All the nursery staff are fantastic, they are always friendly and helpful. I can see that they have gotten to know my daughter so well and she is always happy to wave goodbye to me in the mornings. She comes home happy and well-fed. They have lots of time outdoors and she comes home with plenty of crafts
for me.

My girls are 21 months and are behind in some areas of their development. The staff are all very helpful and understand my worries and are willing to help them as much as they can. One of the staff members is very helpful and is willing to liaise with the girls' health visitor also so there is input
from all areas.

I can't rate the nursery enough. My daughter has only been in nursery 5 months and I can see how confident she's become and that's clearly down to all the hard work the staff put in. The excitement on her little face when she sees her teacher is adorable and I leave her a happy mother!

Our daughter started at Children 1st @ Hathern in September 2020. After a slightly shaky start on her first day, she has run in everyday since with a smile on her face. I am continually impressed by the variety of activities that she enjoys and can’t say enough good things about the staff! Particularly
the assistant manager who is always smiling and welcomes my daughter into nursery every day. We moved to the area just before I went back to work after maternity leave and didn’t have many options when choosing a nursery, I am honestly so glad that we chose Children 1st @ Hathern, it is the right fit for my daughter.

From the start of the induction process, staff have been very helpful. Communication between nursery and home is excellent. We really enjoy seeing the daily diary updates. The general organisation of the nursery is very good.

Can’t fault the nursery at all, my daughter has been going since around 8 months old! I was immediately set on the nursery after the initial warm welcome when looking around. The staff are always so friendly on drop off and collection and my daughter is always extremely excited when we pull up. All
around great experience and have been great during 2020 and the pandemic.

Since starting nursery just 3 months ago my son's progress has been amazing. He loves his class friends and his teachers. We're now fully potty trained, something we hadn't even tried when he started and he is doing really well with trying new foods which have always been a battle at home. Covid lockdown
had a big impact on him and he became clingy and much more reliant on me than he was at the start of this year. His teachers are great and he often talks about them at home. His keyworker has really taken the time to get to know him and all of his little quirks which makes a massive difference. He absolutely adores her as well as the other staff members. It's so nice to see the outgoing and friendly little boy I had before lockdown getting back to himself and nursery have been essential in that. Thank you.

I cannot rate the nursery highly enough, they have taken such good care of my daughter since she was 11 weeks old and as a result she has flourished into a confident and bright young child. The nursery manager and staff are always willing to answer any questions and I feel like we have an excellent
relationship.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for 22 months and she absolutely loves her time here and all the staff. Every morning she is so excited to be going to nursery often making up songs in the car on the way in about her nursery day. I can honestly say I have not had any trouble dropping her
off in the mornings she always runs in with a big smile on her face. The staff are so friendly caring and supportive and the facilities newly refurbished and a fabulous space to play. The range of activities they do each day is varied and exciting. My daughter has developed so much by attending here. I am so glad I chose this nursery for her.

My son has been so happy since returning to the early years room after the lockdown, he went straight back the first day it opened. The staff have been very enthusiastic and encouraging and have made the situation very normal and enjoyable for the children. He has great friends and the environment is
a great set up for the transition to school.

Children 1st at Hathern is fantastic. The staff have taken time to get to know our child and work in a person-centred way to fit his needs. He has a great relationship with staff and their support in his development is fantastic. He's come on so well since attending Children 1st for the last two years.
The communication between staff and home is excellent and the way the team have managed the pandemic is absolutely commendable. Our son attended throughout the first lockdown and I always felt the precautions in place were safe. Thank you Children 1st for everything you do for our little boy.

The team work so hard to encourage our children to develop and it’s so rewarding to see my children grow and expand their abilities. Both children skip into nursery each morning which fills me with confidence that they really enjoy their time there.

My son started at Hathern nursery when Children 1st very first took on the running of this setting. The nursery has been through a whirlwind of changes since our first visit and has never looked more fantastic. My son loves to tell me about all the things he has learnt and played with and the friends
he has made. His language and understanding is amazing for a 2 and a half year old and I credit the team at Hathern for being part of this. They are great at meeting my son's dietary needs and are sure to tell me about all the adventures he has had. My son is safe, happy and loved by amazing nursery workers. I couldn't ask for more.

My child started here in September and loves it. He has made friends and is becoming so independent. He really enjoys being out in the garden and learning new songs which he then teaches to me when he gets home. The staff are lovely and so welcoming. I feel safe in the knowledge my boy is being well
looked after.

This nursery has done so much for my son. He has made tonnes of friends, participated in a sports day, learnt about (and tried!) world foods, made so many beautiful arts and crafts and eats great meals every day that he is there!
He is learning the alphabet and counting and he is so confident and always
excited to go there. He learns about being kind, taking turns, listening, playing nicely. They’ve got all bases covered.
A well rounded, kind and nurturing environment, perfect for any child.

This is a fabulous nursery and I cannot recommend highly enough. Both of my children have gone/are going through this nursery and have been extremely happy. They say that the staff make a company, and this is spot on here. The staff are excellent who are always willing to chat about your children's
needs and are accommodating to parents needs also. They provide good feedback when you pick up your children, they have an abundance of resources to help with education and learning, and my children have learnt a lot here.

My daughter has just progressed to Early Years and has adjusted really quickly to the bigger class and new routine. This is because of the amazing staff and lovely atmosphere here. Everybody is warm, friendly and helpful, and my little girl feels really at home there. I had no qualms about sending her
back after the initial lockdown ended as I know the children’s health and well-being is of paramount importance. I highly recommend this nursery!

We've been using Children 1st at Hathern since our little one was 6 months old, it's been such a pleasure, the whole way through. He started off with a milk allergy and they dealt with this brilliantly, even helping us gradually modify the diet to build up a tolerance and now he's fine. They can't do
more to care for the children and all the staff are lovely. I'd recommend Children 1st to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.202)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.202) out of 10 for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.866 for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.866
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.336 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 number of registered child places is 19.6. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.6 = 0.561
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
