The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for Children 1st @ Hathern is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Children 1st @ Hathern in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.75 for Children 1st @ Hathern is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.652 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Children 1st @ Hathern is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 13.8 positive Reviews (69 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 13.8 Target = 0.652

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Our son attended Children 1st @ Hathern since June 2016 until March 2018. For this time we had no issues about nursery work at all. Staff provided significant support in speech development and potty training. They also always followed our dier requirements which was quite important for us. Nurses build friendly relationships with kids and take care about kid's development and their personalities.

Thank you Children's 1st @ Hathern staff, well done and good luck.

Our daughter has been attending the nursery full time for around a year. The nursery has a very friendly atmosphere and staff who actively support and encourage the children. All of the rooms provide a good combination of directed and independent learning opportunities, as appropriate to the ages of the children. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities that the children are actively encouraged to explore. Detailed daily feedback is provided on the progress of the children, helping to build links between the nursery and home. We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery.

The team at Children 1st @ Hathern are lovely and very attentive to the children. They always call promptly should there be anything to be aware of ahead of pick up time (bumps and bruises!). There is also an informative newsletter that is circulated which I appreciate as I am able to see the themes they are focusing on and show us what teaching to reinforce at home. The progress book is also well completed with nappy changes, and information on food, activities and sleep.

My son has attended this nursery since it opened. He has been in every room from baby through to pre-school. The staff are fantastic and very helpful. My son has issues with food and staff have encouraged him to try new foods. I am an overprotective parent but felt this nursery was safe and I have not looked back. My son has a great relationship with each member of staff and it is always difficult at home time as he never wants to leave. He has learnt a lot of new things which he shares with us at home.
A typical boy, he loves all of the outside areas to play in. Great feedback to parents from staff. 100% recommended.

My son goes to after school club at the nursery and the staff have done a really great job of settling him in. He was very upset for the first few weeks of starting school as he didn’t go to this nursery before and he was very unsettled by the change.
It was a very upsetting time for all of us but the staff at Moors Farm were fantastic.
They reassured both me and my little boy that all was ok and gently encouraged him to join in and make friends.
I would definitely recommend the after school club as a great place for your children if like me you Work and cannot pick your children up from school - no matter how much they would like you too!

Excellent staff.

The only comment is lighting on the path near the nursery could be fixed.

Food could be improved so more fruit and veg is used.

I’m very grateful I found this nursery and chose to send my youngest child here, I’ve used a few nurseries and childminders over the years as my older two were growing up and this is without a doubt the best. The staff are amazing, the whole environment feels like a home away from home and they always put the well-being of the children above all else, as well as being there and supporting the rest of the family as well. My older two love coming with me to pick the youngest up because they love seeing all the staff as well. Excellent in every way, I couldn’t ask for better people to be looking after my child.

The nursery has a lovely warm, welcoming feeling as you walk through the door. The staff are amazing! All the staff know my child's name whether they are in his room or not, they are so informative and positive. A wonderful nursery that I highly recommend.

My child has settled very well at nursery, which is saying something for how mardy she is! She seems to enjoy nursery very much, I've never had any problems booking extra sessions and my older son even attends during the school holidays and although shy on arrival, he also enjoys attending.
All staff I have met have been very friendly and professional. My only niggle would be that in the past, I feel that staff working in my child's room changed quite regularly in the first few months, I had no idea who her key worker was, but I believe that can be put down to general changes that have taken place over the nursery in recent months. I know now who her key worker is but it would have been helpful if I was notified or made aware at the time of any changes because at times, it was confusing. In saying that, my mum picks up so I'm only there on a Thursday and Friday morning which is not the best for communicating!
Overall, I love the nursery and my children seem to have lots of fun.
