I moved locality and changed my children nursery, which was a hard transition, but the staff at Children 1st have done all they could to make it easier, supporting the children to settle and also reassuring me as a mother.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, the staff always work hard to work alongside
the parents and deliver the best possible care.
Only moved a year ago and already feel part of the family.

Absolutely brilliant nursery. Lovely, lovely staff and great communication.
My little boy loves it and there's plenty of activities to keep him occupied and stimulated. I am really impressed and would certainly recommend.

My son started at the nursery in April 2022. Since he’s been there we’ve had a diagnosis of ASD. The nursery has been so supportive of us, as a family.
They’ve understood my son, made his journey a happy, interesting and safe one. They really have that inclusive family feeling there, I’d recommend
anyone to use the nursery, I only have positive things to say and will remember my son’s time there with great fondness.
Reply from David Hancock, Chief Executive at Children 1st Hathern Nursery SchoolIt's so lovely to hear how much the nursery has supported both your son and you, as a family. It's wonderful to know that you will remember your experience with us and I am sure the nursery will miss having your little one around. Thank you, Rebecca, for sharing this review.

My son has been attending for roughly two years and spent most of it pretty nonverbal but his needs were always met and he’s come on loads lately, ready to start school. Staff are lovely although the only negative I would have is at one point in the year staff turnover was quite high which perhaps didn’t
help with my son's shyness but other than that, I cannot fault the place. I’d happily send my child here.
Reply from David Hancock, Chief Executive at Children 1st Hathern Nursery SchoolDear Kayleigh, thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review. It really is great to hear that our amazing colleagues at the Hathern nursery have helped your son and that he continues to progress – they will be thrilled to know how happy you are. Staff recruitment in the nursery sector just now is a real challenge but I am very happy with the progress we are making to attract some wonderfully talented practitioners and educators.

Our son has been attending Children 1st @ Hathern for 19 months now and recently they have supported us with the transition of rooms and supported us through the difficulty my son is experiencing with his lack of speech. All members of staff have been amazing, not only for my son but with us as parents
also.

Since my daughter started coming to the nursery in August 2020 I feel like my daughter has rapidly grown and gained valuable personal skills. I strongly believe if my daughter had not come to this nursery then she would not be as developed as she currently is. My daughter likes coming to the nursery
and has made lots of friends since coming here. The staff have made myself and my partner feel at ease since day one with regular end of day handovers and daily updates on what my daughter has been doing throughout the day.

My 10-month-old baby has recently started nursery at Children 1st @ Hathern following my return to work from maternity leave. The whole process was stress-free and has made me feel confident that my little boy will be in safe caring hands. The staff who look after him are just lovely and I can tell
that they have a true passion for what they do and a real interest in the children they look after. My little boy has settled in so well and is happy for me to leave him in the mornings which is a huge relief when I have to rush off to work. The nursery itself is really well set out with rooms for each age group and lovely gardens too, especially the big garden which I'm sure he will love to explore as he gets older. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and dedication.

Under the new management of the nursery, my child has come on leaps and bounds.
Both his socialising with other children and his communication with us as parents have improved.
We could not ask for a more friendly or professional team to assist and take care of our child.

My 2-year-old is the most shy little girl going, she really is my shadow. She joined this nursery in March after relocating and she absolutely loves it. No tears at drop-off, my heart is so full. I'm so happy with the choice we made. My son also went to another Children 1st nursery and he absolutely
loved that too. Thank you.

Since my child has been going to Children 1st Day Nursery, I believe they have been happily encouraged to become much more independent and have grown immensely throughout, they have also grown much more confident around new people and other children, staff are always very friendly and helpful and I’m
always confident and happy with the care provided. I also love to see the different activities they do to help children learn and play that differ from activities at home.

My son started in the Peter Rabbit's room just after Christmas and is absolutely loving it. He’s always got a smile and a happy face for all of the girls working there and they are easy to chat to and liaise with. We’ve had all different childcare provisions with other children and I wish I had considered
Children 1st @ Hathern first before for my eldest it's easily become my recommended place for locals asking.

My daughter attended Children 1st Hathern just after she turned 1. She has loved it every day after. We had a short break due to Covid, so going back when she was 3 worried me. But the staff all remembered her, remembered the name of her bunny that she still takes everywhere with her, and now it's like
she's never been away. The staff are caring, the setting is well kept. They mix learning and play. When your daughter wakes up excited to see her teachers and friends you know it's a great place to be. Thanks all you are brilliant.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.202)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.202) out of 10 for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.866 for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.866
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.336 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 number of registered child places is 19.6. 11 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.6 = 0.561
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
