Children 1st Birstall Nursery School

Great nursery. Staff are all very friendly and approachable. Excellent service and loved by my child.

I have sent both of my children to Children 1st @ Birstall since they were 10/11 months old and it was one of the best parenting decisions I have made. Not only are the nursery facilities fantastic but the pricing is competitive and the staff care for the children as if they were their own. Our kids have developed so well physically and mentally and look forward to nursery every day they go in. The team are always so accommodating and do everything they can to make nursery the children's 2nd home.

Love the new refurb and car park floor, great job, feels more safe and secure. All the staff are friendly and my son enjoys his time at nursery and we find that our son is learning good and bad habits but that's kids. The nursery app is another good attribute to understand what he is doing and learning. Thank you.

This is a great nursery for any child, my little boy loves it here and comes back happy from his days here. The staff are all lovely and my little boy can't speak more highly about them. There are a few things that could be improved, for example, they eat the same food every week, some more variety would be nice. They have also invoked a new rule where children have to keep their shoes on in their rooms, to encourage indoor and outdoor play. This wouldn't be a problem in summer, however, in winter the kid's shoes are dirty and muddy, causing the carpet to be filthy. Considering that the kids usually play on the carpet all day, it's not very hygienic. I am all for outdoor play but I think there should be a rule, that it's below 5 degrees the kids should not be forced outside. Often when I pick my son up he is outside, even when everything is wet as its been raining earlier in the day and his hands are freezing cold.

I am very happy with the care my child receives at Children's 1st Birstall, he enjoys going two mornings a week and playing with his friends. The rooms and resources are excellent and they have a big variety of activities/games/toys/garden to keep the children entertained and stimulated. I find that the food they have for lunches can be a bit repetitive and a bit bland (lentil bake for example) which my child isn't keen on so comes home from nursery still quite hungry sometimes, would be nice if they introduced some different menu choices every few months. Also regarding activities, the staff do with the children, I find that my child doesn't very often come home with any arts/crafts work which I would like to see more of now he is getting older.

The staff look after my little one as best they can. Some days are busier than others, so they can get a little rushed, however, they are mostly on top form. All staff and management are very friendly and willing to help. They take things on board and support where possible. Not only did they initially support my little one to settle in, they reassured me as well, which is what I needed as a parent returning to work after leave. The only issue I do have is the entrance to the nursery and parking space. It can get extremely difficult to get in and out and there is very little space when entering the grounds.

This nursery is a beautiful nursery! Staff are great and the children are all having fun as they learn which is the most important part of early years!

My son joined Children 1st @ Birstall when he was one year old and has been full time for almost a year. My son has experienced two different rooms within the nursery and I have never had any problems or felt any guilt in leaving him. The girls in both rooms are professional and caring. My son bonded straight away with his first key worker and so I was concerned when he moved to the next room, but once again he has built close relationships with all the staff. I feel like I can speak very openly with the staff about my wants and needs for my son and have never had any issues regarding his allergies. The meals served at the nursery are balanced, varied and plentiful, which is important to me with my son being full time. The regular use of Early Years Log by staff, especially in the baby room, is particularly great for being kept in the loop as a busy mum. The indoor and outside space is what sold the nursery to me initially and my son really loves being in the garden, even in the winter.

My child loves nursery. The staff are so kind, friendly and welcoming. The management is always so helpful. Very happy that my child attends here.

Looking forward to another 4 years.

My son feels safe, happy and confident at this nursery. He is treated as an individual and the carers have got to know him so well. I can't fault the management and feel I am kept up to date with news and information. Great nursery!

My daughter loves attending Children 1st. She looks forward to going and when I drop her off she runs through the gate. Since starting nursery I have found my daughter is more independent and is eating better and I think Children 1st has aided her development. All the staff at Children 1st are professional and friendly and have obviously built good relationships with the children. The nursery itself has also been beautifully decorated and provides a great environment.

I have seen a massive improvement in my son since he started in January 2019. Extremely happy with his progress so far.

My daughter loves Children 1st. She enjoys playing there, learning different skills and learning and different cultures. She adores the staff and I feel confident that she excels in the environment they provide.

As a parent, I find the preschool, particularly in a nursery setting, provides the best preparation for attending school.

My little boy loves it here and gets excited in the morning when I tell him it’s nursery day. He’s recently moved here from a different nursery and has settled in straight the way and he often comes home singing nursery rhymes and saying new words that he’s learnt. The staff are lovely and very approachable. When picking him up I get told what his day's been about and how much fun they’ve had which is always nice to hear and also get photos through to my phone occasionally. Overall I’m very happy with how the nursery’s run.

Can not fault Children 1st, happy mummy.

Staff make me feel my little one is safe and very well loved. She has learnt a lot and the staff are always very enthusiastic to teach, cuddle and help her thrive.

Staff who do not have direct care to my daughter know her name and say hello and bye every time. The chef also remembers and accommodates my daughters fussy eating habits!

The nursery is very clean, great layout, with lots of activities, planned to keep the children busy and entertained. The nursery promotes charity events in which parents can get involved in and special days where the children have opportunities for dress up and learn about their surroundings, different religions etc, broadening the child’s knowledge and perspective of the world.

My child really enjoys going, I look forward to my other child attending, I will feel at ease that they are in good hands when I return to work.

This is a good nursery. My son has fitted in really well and enjoys coming to this nursery. The staff are friendly and the management are really good and helpful. The staff make you feel welcome.
