Set within a stunning Victorian property in the peaceful Barbourne area, Shooting Stars Nursery & Preschool, Worcester offers a warm and inspiring environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. The nursery’s location provides easy access to major transport links, making it ideal for commuting families.

The nursery is arranged into five age-specific rooms, each carefully designed with premium Community Play furnishings and a rich selection of educational resources. As children grow, their learning spaces evolve to introduce more structure, helping them transition smoothly and confidently toward school readiness.

The teaching approach blends child-led exploration with adult-guided learning, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS framework. This balanced method encourages independence, creativity, and curiosity while supporting children through key developmental stages.

To help parents stay connected and reassured, the nursery offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that provides live access to their child’s day. The nursery app complements this by sharing daily updates, photos, and insights, fostering strong communication and a collaborative relationship between home and nursery.

Outdoor play is a cherished part of the daily routine. Shooting Stars Worcester features separate garden areas for under twos and over twos, as well as a woodland forest garden that promotes imaginative play, sensory exploration, and a love of nature.
All meals are freshly prepared on-site, with a varied and nutritious menu designed to support healthy eating habits and overall wellbeing from an early age.

Shooting Stars is a lovely nursery. The staff are fantastic, always friendly, attentive and clearly committed to providing high-quality care. The refurbished building is great, with light and spacious rooms and lots of fun activity stations for the children. I am extremely pleased with my choice and
my daughter loves attending.

My little boy struggled to settle in initially but since moving up into the next group he has developed a really lovely bond with his current key worker and has come on in leaps and bounds! The nursery interior is great since the renovation with lots of toys and areas for them to access and learn in.
He does different activities every day and always is happy when we come to collect him! I feel like the staff care about him and have got to understand his personality which makes me really happy and confident with his care. Would recommend this nursery. Will be even better when the garden is updated too.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.507) out of 10 for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Worcester is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.968 for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Worcester is calculated as follows: ( (151 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.968
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.539 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shooting Stars Nurseries at Worcester is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 91 number of registered child places is 18.2. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.2 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Tracy Hedges

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2011

I joined Shooting Stars in 2011 when we had just one nursery setting. I was originally employed in the role of Deputy Manager at our Stourbridge Nursery, then in 2013 I began the role of Nursery Manager, moving into the role of Area Manager in 2015. I’ve worked in Early Years for 28 years.

Prior to joining Shooting Stars, as well as working in a range of practitioner roles, leadership roles, and senior leadership roles within day nursery settings, I have worked as part of a specialist support team with children who were paralysed through spinal cord injury, and I began my career as a nanny. It is safe to say I have been part of the team at Shooting Stars long enough now that it is as much a part of me as I am a part of it!

I am really passionate about creating magical childhoods that grow excited, curious children and provide the best foundations for successful lives. I have a keen interest in well-being and believe that securing high levels of emotional well-being for children in our care underpins their capacity to thrive in all other ways. After lots of years being a practitioner creating secure and emotionally enabling environments for children first-hand, I now love nothing more than supporting the understanding and development of this throughout our teams, ensuring it is fostered deeply in our culture.

Job Title: Strategic Development Manager Joined: 2014

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.

Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.

Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.

A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce.
