Set within a stunning Victorian property in the peaceful Barbourne area, Shooting Stars Nursery & Preschool, Worcester offers a warm and inspiring environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. The nursery is arranged into five age-specific rooms, each carefully designed with premium Community Play furnishings and a rich selection of educational resources. As children grow, their learning spaces evolve to introduce more structure, helping them transition smoothly and confidently toward school readiness.

The teaching approach blends child-led exploration with adult-guided learning, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS framework. This balanced method encourages independence, creativity, and curiosity while supporting children through key developmental stages.

My two-year-old son has been attending for a year now, and thoroughly enjoys it. The staff are friendly, confident, skilled and supportive. We benefit hugely from the full days - 8 am to 6 pm - including school holidays which for working parents is essential.
My son has made lots of friends, his speech
and language have improved, he has formed lovely relationships with staff members, and the overall development he has made in all areas since attending has been amazing.
I have an older child (she attends school now) with complex needs and disabilities, and from my observations, the nursery seems inclusive, person-centred and needs-led, which is so refreshing for children with SEN.
I really can’t recommend Shooting Stars Nurseries at Worcester enough!

Shooting Stars is fantastic with our little boy. We were a little nervous as he had only been with the two of us prior to starting, but we could not be happier with how well the whole team welcomed him and us. Everyone is so lovely and professional. Our little boy has settled in fantastically, is always
happy to go in and even wants to stay and play when it’s pick up time! There is a large selection of toys and activities that are alternated, activities are clearly planned and a lot of love is put into what they do. The pre-toddler team are amazing, caring and exactly the kind of people you want to leave your child with. Thank you so much to two particular members of staff; you are so wonderful. The toddler room is fantastic too - lots to climb and explore. They are very thorough when working with children who have allergies, which alleviated a lot of my worries. Starting nursery in lockdown and being left for the first time with effectively a stranger, my son struggled to say goodbye, but the staff have always been really kind, caring and patient with him, ensuring he went straight to his favoured toy or activity, which really helped him get used to the new
experience. 15-months later, my son now sometimes asks if he’s going to nursery on weekends and also doesn’t want to leave! All the staff are amazing and really look out for his interests and activities to help him develop. I’m so grateful to have a safe, loving environment for him to grow in whilst I’m at work.

My son has been going to Shooting Stars since February 2020, and we have always had such a wonderful experience. They were really fantastic throughout the whole pandemic and have always been great with communication giving my son the most 'normal' experience possible.
The staff have always gone above
and beyond. I am really grateful to so many individuals for the care they give him. He's always so happy and has such a great community of little friends. The structure has meant he'll keep these friends as he heads into pre-school, which I am pleased about. My son is sugar-free, and they always make sure he doesn't miss out, the food is really excellent.
There seems to be a lot of thought that goes into the way the nursery is run - it's organised, but still fun, they learn but it isn't overly 'school' like - they play all day and just seem to have the best time. All the children seem so happy, I couldn't recommend it enough.

Since moving to Worcester in August last year, we could not be happier with the childcare provided by Shooting Stars. Both my children settled there so quickly, formed really strong bonds and just love every day they spend there. I mostly put that down to the incredible people who work there, but also

My little boy started at the Shooting Stars Nursery Worcester at the age of 2.5. He is now 4 and the next few months will be his last ones at the Nursery, he will be going to school in September. He attended the toddler class and now the pre-school. I cannot thank enough all of the staff for taking
great care of him. We follow a respectful parenting style at home and Shooting Stars Nursery provides a very similar - respectful, kind, caring & child-led environment. The pre-school team staff are very creative, they do go the extra mile to produce fun & educational play areas. And they are all so friendly to speak to. The gentle, caring manners can be felt throughout the Nursery. From the management all the way to the kitchen staff. I must mention their fantastic garden & forest school type area, too. Just love that space! As a first time mum, having the CCTV option was also very reassuring - to be able to see my son while he is there. I highly recommend this lovely Nursery.

Our first daughter has attended Shooting Stars for a year and a half, and we have always been very happy with how well she has been cared for. She is always keen to go to nursery and is clearly very happy there - this has always been the case, whichever room she has been in and whoever has been looking
after her, as the whole team has the same positive attitude. Our second daughter started this month, and our experience has been equally positive. The settling in sessions have been really positive, and the team in the baby room are incredibly reassuring and knowledgeable. We trust Shooting Stars to look after our children, and we can see how well they are developing in the setting. We recommend Shooting Stars to anyone without any hesitation.

We love Shooting Stars Barbourne! My little boy has been going here since he was one and started in the first wave of the pandemic. As a first time mum, you always worried about leaving your baby, but I can honestly say sending him here has made it so easy for us both. He has always been so excited
for nursery days and doesn’t even wave us goodbye. The children spend lots of time learning outside, which is something that was important to us, and I am sure that it is because of the love and dedication of all the staff here that my little one is thriving. Every member of staff we have ever dealt with have been wonderful and supportive to us as a family, and are well-loved by my little one. We can’t praise Shooting Stars Worcester highly enough. When I drop my daughter off first thing, she doesn’t even look back at me as she runs through the pre-toddler’s door! She has a packed day of learning through play, and the progress she has made is excellent.
The team are always warm and friendly
to us as parents, and our daughter clearly adores all the staff. They know all her quirks and qualities, demonstrating she’s valued as an individual by the team.
Our daughter was very poorly last year, ending up in hospital on a ventilator. The team sent us several messages, and the pre-toddler room sent her cards and messages of support. We were overwhelmed. It was very difficult for us to send her back to nursery after this scare, but once again, the staff surpassed expectations making her return safe, considerate and reassuring us as parents.
A wonderful environment where children are seen as individuals and nurtured to become the best versions of themselves they can be.

We are really thrilled with the standard of care our daughter receives at nursery. The staff are consistently professional, friendly and helpful. Absolutely lovely nursery, very accommodating and open. My son went to preschool there and was really happy. Staff is warm and fun and engaged.
The only thing I can in hindsight criticise is that at school the kids are grouped according to the knowledge of the phonics and numbers and then taught accordingly
throughout. My son does not seem to have been taught any significant amount of phonics so all he knew was the letters in his name. Even though he is a clever cookie this placed him in a much lower group than he would have been in had he been taught phonics at preschool. I am not a fan of teaching kids already at the preschool level but in order to give them the best chance at school, it seems to be of advantage if they are made aware of letters to some level (in a playful way).

We have been so pleased with how well our daughter settled into Nursery since September. There is a real caring and nurturing atmosphere. Staff established where our daughter is in her development, which really put our minds at rest about where we can support her further. We love the regular updates
about her progress and we even get to see things which she does during the day using their app, as nursery staff take photos and videos of things that she does. It was wonderful to see my daughter learn to walk in a different setting, she has become so confident and she is always encouraged by nursery staff. It is wonderful to see her now run up to the staff at the door and not give one thought about leaving us when we drop her off. I have nothing but praise for the team and would recommend this nursery to anyone!

Our daughter has recently started with the nursery and as parents, we were very apprehensive but the team at Shooting Stars have really made her feel welcome and have helped her to settle in brilliantly. The nursery is great indoor and out and the equipment they have for the children is excellent. We
look forward to dropping her off knowing she’s going to have a fun day and be well cared for. There are loads of nurseries to choose from in the area, but Shooting Stars met all of our requirements:
- Takes children before they are 2 (many don’t)
- Option for term time only (husband is a teacher)
- Registered with tax-free childcare/gov. free hours
- Good quality and varied hot meals prepared
onsite
- Plenty of outdoor play space
- Use of app for updates (meals, nappies, sleep, etc)
The NurseryCam was a bonus - it’s lovely to be able to see what they are getting up to at various points throughout the day. The staff we have met have been lovely and we have been really impressed with the professional way they have managed the COVID safety measures. Would highly recommend.

We are extremely happy with the care and attention that the team at Shooting Stars have given to our little boy since he started in the Baby Room in January 2020.
In particular, I would like to highlight the Baby Room Leader, who has been fantastic and understanding in her approach with us as parents
(nervous first-timers!), and obviously our son, whose transition from home to nursery was seamless thanks to her and her team's effort. Dropping off and picking up a happy little boy is all we hoped for when we embarked upon the nursery decision making process. That being said we have been amazed by his development in all areas, including coordination and speech which is improving on a week by week basis.

Starting her career as a practitioner, Emma has progressed through various leadership roles, including Deputy Manager and Supporting Manager, and has spent the past 12 years successfully managing several nursery settings.


As a mum to an 11-year-old daughter, Emma understands the high expectations parents have when choosing childcare. Her personal and professional experiences shape her vision for delivering high-quality care and early learning. Emma is passionate about creating a happy, relaxed, and stimulating environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn.


Emma is committed to working closely with families and her team to ensure every child receives the care and education they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

Tracy Hedges

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2011

I joined Shooting Stars in 2011 when we had just one nursery setting. I was originally employed in the role of Deputy Manager at our Stourbridge Nursery, then in 2013 I began the role of Nursery Manager, moving into the role of Area Manager in 2015. I’ve worked in Early Years for 28 years.


Prior to joining Shooting Stars, as well as working in a range of practitioner roles, leadership roles, and senior leadership roles within day nursery settings, I have worked as part of a specialist support team with children who were paralysed through spinal cord injury, and I began my career as a nanny. It is safe to say I have been part of the team at Shooting Stars long enough now that it is as much a part of me as I am a part of it!


I am really passionate about creating magical childhoods that grow excited, curious children and provide the best foundations for successful lives. I have a keen interest in well-being and believe that securing high levels of emotional well-being for children in our care underpins their capacity to thrive in all other ways. After lots of years being a practitioner creating secure and emotionally enabling environments for children first-hand, I now love nothing more than supporting the understanding and development of this throughout our teams, ensuring it is fostered deeply in our culture.

Kully Dhillon

Job Title: Strategic Development Manager Joined: 2014

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.


Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.


Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.


A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Wellbeing is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.


At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.


Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
