Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Surbiton, Maple Road

My daughter loves going to nursery in the morning and is always happy which is the most important factor for me. The nursery staff truly love the kids and take an active interest in their development.

Our daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her time at Dicky Birds and we find she has learnt greatly from her experiences at the "nest". The team and her key person, in particular, seem universally pleased to see her and she talks every evening about all the things she has done and the staff and other children that she has played with. She regularly seems to go out for walks and activities. As the location is quite central in Surbiton it is quite constrained for outdoor space but they have certainly made the most of what outdoor space is available. The food is varied and our daughter always seems to eat double portions of lunch and/or dinner. As such we would recommend to other parents without question.

We moved to Dicky Birds Claremont Hall in January 2021 after moving house and are really pleased with it. My eighteen month old is really happy to go in every day and seems to be doing all sorts of activities. When we sing new songs, they seem to know all the actions already and are learning lots of new words and animal sounds. My four year old is really happy and engaged with their group and really enjoys interactions with staff and the other children, as well as walks, sports and forest school days. They seem to spend loads of time outside and are clearly kept very busy with lots of activities indoors and out. My two enjoy all the food, apart from a few preferences. The staff and communications are brilliant, a weekly update with photos of what everyone has been up to, as well as menus and any other news. The team are very responsive, any questions or queries are directed to the right person and dealt with really quickly.

I would highly recommend this nursery to everyone. Just one concern, I would like to see a bit of change in pick-ups and drops of our chicks, as it’s currently not being managed in the best possible way.

My only two criticisms were the limited daily, general feedback and the lack of artwork and crafts received, which were made while at nursery, particularly on special occasions. We, unfortunately, didn't receive anything for valentines day and mothers day, and only received one painted artwork for Christmas. It would have been special memorabilia to have had especially while they are so little and growing and developing so quickly.

Extremely well organised, lovely staff and a really healthy environment. Our son (nearly three) has developed really well there and he loves going. There are numerous fun and educational activities and the menu is healthy and varied.

The organisation of the nursery is superb and overall I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and safe environment for their children.

My daughter has been part of Claremont Hall, Surbiton since September 2019. She enjoys the experience and I'm always particularly pleased with the communication, overall experience and how happy she is to be at nursery.

After viewing many nurseries in the Surbiton & Hinchley Wood area we can honestly say Dicky Birds is by far the best in the area. My daughter is extremely happy and I know every day we drop her off she’s in a safe, happy, kind and caring environment. Dicky Birds communication with parents is outstanding with daily reports and phone calls to inform us of anything needed during the day. They are well organised and run the nursery extremely efficiently. There is a lot of imaginary play and time spent outdoors whether it be in the garden, trips in the “party bus” down to the river, or to the park. Thank you for being such a great nursery!

My daughter has been attending Dicky Birds nursery in Claremont Hall for just over 2 years now, and I couldn't be happier with the service provided. Communication from the nursery is brilliant, especially during the COVID19 pandemic. The nursery is well managed and the safety of the children taken very seriously. Accidents/Incidents are very rare but when they occur, parents are informed in a timely manner. Staff are polite and professional. My daughter really enjoys attending nursery.

Thank you Dicky Birds for looking after both my kids over the years with such kindness and care and big smiles on their faces each day. Incredibly well-run nursery, regular parent communication and low staff turnover. Very impressed with communication and updating of health and safety procedures throughout the covid year. So reassuring as a busy working parent to be able to put 100% trust in your team (since my eldest started in 2016)! It means so much thank you.

Lovely staff who clearly enjoy their job. Our son adores his nursery room, Ducklings, and he is always happy to be dropped off and picked up. They tire him out brilliantly and he forever sleeps through the night! As a dairy-free baby, they have catered really well to him too.

The staff are excellent! My boys are always smiling when I mention the names of the other kids and staff in their room.
