Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Surbiton, Maple Road

Our little one loves everyone in the flamingos! The staff are amazing and very caring! They are very accommodating and we can see how much they care and love for the children in the class. The deputy managers are also amazing!

I have a 2-year-old in the nursery now who has been there since she was 8 months old, and a 6-year-old who has grown up here through all the rooms. I can't say enough about how much they both love and loved this nursery. It has allowed them both to thrive which is everything you hope for as a full-time working parent entrusting your precious children to a village. The most important factor is the staff. They care so much about the kids and the care they give. The way they come up with different imaginative activities every day and prepare the tables for them continues to astonish me. All the practical life skills they try to teach - like putting on their own sun cream and cleaning - are not just admirable but the pictures are absolutely adorable.

Some of the amazing staff like the lady in Sparrow's room have been there a long time and set very high standards. Some long-standing support staff like the Forrest School teacher deserve special recognition as well.

Our daughter joined Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Surbiton, Maple Road at the beginning of 2024 and we are very happy. The settling-in sessions helped her adjust to the new environment before starting. The weekly round-up and pictures are so lovely to see each week. The staff are kind and our daughter’s confidence is growing day by day.

I only have great things to say about this nursery. My son went here and now my daughter does and just like he did she absolutely loves it. The staff are warm and professional and my daughter is always very happy at drop-offs and pick-ups. Highly recommend.

Both our daughters were very happy at Dicky Birds Maple Road from 2020 to 2023. The staff in the room are lovely and took excellent care of them. I think management’s communication style with parents wasn’t always great but the children were happy, safe and well looked after and that is what really matters.

Couldn't be happier with the care our daughter receives at Dicky Birds Maple Road. She's so happy to go in and is always warmly greeted by staff. She loves the fun activities, the interaction with staff and other children, and she's learned so much from there. We are leaving the area soon and are pretty heartbroken to have to take her away from the nursery she loves!

The team is amazing and gave great support to my baby’s settling. Space is nice with outdoor garden and food menu seems delicious and balanced. I wish the report with pictures of child’s activities could be daily and individually, rather than a weekly round-up of the whole room. It’s a bit cruel for a mom to wait a week to see some pictures of her child at the nursery and sometimes there aren’t any.

Our baby is thriving every day and so happy to be in the nursery. The manager and her team provide exceptional care for our baby including various activities and outings. I admire their dedication and passion.

We are very happy with Maple Road Dicky Birds. My daughter's speech has improved significantly since she started here. In 3 months she is able to talk, sing, count in English. The only improvement I'll suggest is the room needs more light or maybe different lighting to help the kids get more daylight feeling in the room. Also the balcony section needs some improvement. Lastly, the room needs refurbishing as it has old furnishing. Maybe with new decor and lighting it will look so much more exciting for the kids.

Our son joined this nursery last year when he was 11 months old and we couldn't be happier. There were lots of settling-in sessions which really helped before his first day, and so much care taken to maintain his feeding and sleeping routines and preferences. His key worker is absolutely lovely and very caring for him and his development. There are different seasonal play activities, outdoor time when possible and catered to what your child enjoys the most. The food menu is impressive and my son nearly always eats everything given to him. It's wonderful to have a weekly roundup of the activities and fun they've had in the week, and lots of photos of the children playing together. I would recommend this nursery to others without a doubt.

We’re so happy with the care our child receives at Maple Road. His individuality is celebrated and, with constant nurturing from the nursery team, he’s coming on leaps and bounds with his learning and social skills. We are really pleased with the nursery environment and impressed with how this continues to grow and evolve. Every adult that we interact with, and our child interacts with, is helpful, passionate and caring and has our best interests as a family at heart.

We couldn’t be happier with the Dicky Birds team. They’re all fantastic with our daughter, and the ducklings room team have been been incredibly supportive in settling her in! Appreciate all the updates in the app throughout the day!

My daughter joined in the flamingo's room and is absolutely loving it. She is always exploring with messy play, and they follow her routine at home, which helps so much. Nothing is too big to ask. I was very anxious leaving my little one for the first time, but the team were really reassuring, and nothing was too big of an ask. The management team have children at the nursery themselves which is also reassuring for me, and they respond in a timely manner to all my questions and queries. I highly recommend Claremont Hall as a nursery - we are very happy there.

Highly recommend sending your little one there!

We would recommend you look to another nursery, not the Dicky Birds/Grandir/Kidi Caru group (who have several locations nationally).

We absolutely love Dicky Birds Maple Road. The staff are all absolutely amazing, and the way they care for the children is next level. They go out of their way for the children, and my daughter has adored all the workers in every room she’s been in. The activities, opportunities and learning they do is first-class. I like how they take the children on daily walks, which other local nurseries do not do. My daughter also does weekly play sessions there every Tuesday. We couldn’t be happier and will be sad when my daughter gets too big to stay on. Lastly, the food and weekly menus are second to none thanks to their incredible chef, who makes delicious and nutritious meals.

We couldn’t be happier sending our son to Dicky Birds. The staff are all so kind and caring and make a huge effort to make each day fun and engaging for the children through the wide range of activities that they offer. We love to see the pictures and weekly round ups every Friday of what the children got up to and their smiling faces say it all!

Sincerely appreciate the atmosphere of fun and learning that the caring staff at Dicky Birds encourage. My daughter has been attending since she was eleven months old and she enjoys it immensely, has made so many lovely friends and is confident, creative and curious as a result of the curriculum.

Both of our boys attend Dicky Birds Maple Road and have done so for nearly a year. Our youngest (now almost 2) began his nursery journey there at 10 months and we loved it so much that we transferred our eldest when he was nearly 3 after he had had 18 months elsewhere.

Everyone is kind and welcoming. They teach the children in a fun, playful, messy (!), joyful way and they love them and protect them exactly how you want your children nurtured when they are away from you. They encourage individuality but also communal respect. They stress fresh air and the outdoors and they give children the space to be themselves. We love it.

We cannot say enough good things about the staff and the programme at Dicky Birds Maple Road and are happy that we chose it.

We’ve been generally happy with the staff across the multiple classes our child has now been through. They get to know your child and provide personalised care. They’re often able to answer questions about the day or latest behaviour and are supportive through phases and transitions. We’ve been impressed with the diverse activities and curriculum. Economies of scale ensure that your child gets to experience things they might not when at home. The facility is well organised and equipped.
