Set within the Welbeck Estate, just outside Worksop, Child First Nursery offers children an unusually spacious environment in which to learn, explore and spend time in nature. With access to the wider 5,500-acre estate, the setting makes the most of its surroundings to provide experiences that extend well beyond the traditional nursery environment.

Facilities include a music cave, sensory room, outdoor art room, allotment, fire pit and covered outdoor sleeping area. The nursery even has its own rare-breed chickens, giving children further opportunities to learn about animals and the natural environment.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces have been designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and active learning. The extensive grounds of the Welbeck Estate provide additional scope for children to experience the outdoors and develop an appreciation of the world around them.
Food is freshly prepared by an on-site chef, with locally sourced produce used wherever possible. Mealtimes form part of the nursery experience, complementing children's opportunities to learn about food, cooking and nutrition.
Child First places particular emphasis on its team of specialist practitioners and chooses to staff the nursery above the minimum legal requirements. During the settling-in period, each child is given the time and support they need to become comfortable and confident in their new surroundings, with their individual happiness and wellbeing remaining the priority.
The nursery is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and offers free parking for families. While its estate location may mean travelling a little further for some parents, Child First aims to make that journey worthwhile through the breadth of space, experiences and opportunities available to children.

My daughter has been with this nursery since turning 6 months old. The staff are amazing, they have not only been fantastic educators to my daughter but have been a great support network for my self and my partner, due to my daughter having complications at birth I found it extremely difficult to separate from my daughter. The support the staff have given has been beyond compare. My daughter is now nearly 2 and I would not take her anywhere else, she comes home so happy and loves being in this setting. The staff are not just educators they are comforters, protectors, and help these children grow in confidence every day.
My daughter's development has improved an increasing amount due to these amazing people and I am extremely grateful for the love and care they show my daughter whilst I'm at work I know she's safe and happy! So thank you from H Mum x

My son has been here since he was 7 months old. He is so advanced and absolutely thrives here. It's so reassuring dropping him off every morning and see his willingness to go enjoy his day without any tears. The staff are fantastic and really take care to keep you informed at pick ups and really give you the time of day. We're so grateful to the team here for helping our boy grow in to the sociable, happy, caring little boy he is. The grounds are unbelievable. They are outdoor focused which we absolutely love. Cruz always wants to be outdoors now, even at home. You couldn't ask for anything more. The children have so many facilities for their journey including animals!!
Thank you Child first team. We're lucky to be part of such a wonderful establishment. We certainly made the right choice for our son and will never look back.

Child First is an outstanding nursery. My son has been attending for two years now and it's wonderful to see him thrive in such beautiful surroundings and with people who really care about him. The nursery itself is quite tucked away, in the beautiful grounds of Welbeck estate, away from busy roads and lots of foot traffic. Our son loves nature and the outdoors and this couldn't be anymore perfect a surrounding. With lots of fresh air, messy play and great activities. Not only do I feel my son is genuinely cared for, the staff are incredibly empathetic towards us as parents. They actively work with us to support our values and ambition for ours sons development rather than attending to their own agenda. Communication is always excellent with us informed of our sons daily activities, development milestones and informed promptly of any (extremely rare) bumps and scrapes.
Id like to make a special thanks to the management team, chef and practitioners for their wonderful support.

The environment is bright, clean, and full of engaging activities that support learning through play. Our child has grown so much in confidence, communication, and independence since starting here. Every day is filled with fun, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. We love that they're outdoor based as our son just loves being outside, the garden has plenty for them to do and is beautiful! Thank you to the wonderful team at Child First Nursery for creating such a safe, nurturing, and inspiring place for children to thrive. My little girl started a year ago and we absolutely love this nursery. She spent a month in a different nursery at first and really did not settle at all - she came here and has flourished. She's now just started in her third space and the staff in each have been absolutely fantastic. Regular updates on the app, amazing communication on pick up and drop off, everyone is so friendly and happy! It's so different to any other setting I've been in; the space is just perfect. We are so grateful and feel so lucky our little girl is able to come here.

Over-all, a lovely nursery with friendly and caring staff, ran by someone who genuinely cares for your child and I would recommend this place any parent!

Very caring and nurturing environment. We have seen our daughter develop so much whilst in your care. Initially our daughter took a bit of time to settle in when we first left her at drop off, but the staff were so reassuring and kept us posted with photos and messages to show us she was settled and happy within minutes of us leaving. She loves being outside exploring and getting involved with all the activities and learning. She is always excited and happy to go in when we drop her off now in the morning and is always welcomed with a smile, cuddle (and a lovely breakfast). We love hearing about her day when we collect her. They know her so well and she has a lovely bond with them.

Without a doubt the best part about this nursery, apart from its beautiful setting and the fact that the children are learning and playing outdoors a large amount of the day, is its staff. They are kind and considerate and really care about the wellbeing of all the children under their care!

We are so glad that we chose this nursery for our little boy. We don't have any local immediate family so he had spent the first year of his life with either myself or my husband so I was worried with how easily he'd settle into nursery. The staff have all been so supportive of both him and us and despite initial tears on drop offs he clearly now absolutely loves his nursery days by the fact he doesn't want to leave when we collect him! He is really flourishing at Child First Webeck and gaining in confidence all the time. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending the nursery, the fantastic team and amazing outdoor spaces in a beautiful setting to anyone.

I cannot imagine leaving my daughter anywhere other than Child First Welbeck. From the moment I found their website, I knew it's where she had to go. I have never once hesitated in dropping her off there, in the 2 years she has been going. She has always been so happy at drop off and pick up, which says it all. The emphasis on nature is fantastic, and my daughter gets to enjoy loads of outdoor fun including berry picking and feeding the chickens. In a world so scary regarding children's development, I feel so happy that my daughter is starting her life somewhere rooted in the earth and that strips everything back to imagination, outdoors and good old fashioned messy play! The team are fantastic, amazingly attuned to each child, and always do their best to accommodate special requests.

I began my career whilst studying at university and worked as a 1:1 with a 4-year-old boy with autism; this sparked an interest in how the mind works, especially in children. I then worked in a mother and baby unit, supporting young mums and their children and teaching them about life skills, how to care for their children, and how to look after themselves. I worked for Nottingham City Council for 10 years as a senior residential social care worker with children ranging from 4 years to 19 years, with learning disabilities, autism, and mental and physical disabilities. I love weekends away with my family, very spicy food, live concerts and long walks with my dog.
