Number 9 The Nursery is an award-winning day nursery caring for children aged from three months to five years.

The nursery has been thoughtfully designed to give children an excellent beginning in their early years by nurturing them in a beautiful and welcoming environment, and by recognising the unique value of each child.

Its goal is to offer childcare of a high standard whilst maintaining home-from-home care where children are free to explore and engage their imaginations.

The nursery strives to provide a safe, fun and welcoming environment to ensure children reach their full potential whilst being nurtured both socially and emotionally. They are proud to hold the Millie's Mark for their commitment to safety and all of the practitioners are paediatric first aid trained.

Children attending the nursery have wonderful opportunities to participate in Baby Ballet, Pro-Stars, Petit Rendezvous French, and Sing and Sign - all at no extra cost.

Food is cooked on site using the freshest, high quality ingredients in the 5-Star Hygiene Rated kitchen. Their menus are Advanced Accredited by the Early Years Alliance Nutrition Partnership to ensure they meet all nutritional requirements.

Our son has thrived since being at Number 9 The Nursery. He started off on the baby floor and has recently joined the three year old's floor. He is always happy when we drop him off and excited for the day and is the same when we pick him up. We receive regular updates on the app so we can see what
activities he is taking part in.

I can’t express how much I love Number 9 The Nursery. My daughter will be leaving this year and she’s been at Number 9 The Nursery for two years. My three sons also came to Number 9 The Nursery and the support we have been given has been amazing, especially over the last year. I waited some time for
my youngest two children to get a place as they were full and I’m so happy I did. The staff in the two year old room were amazing with my daughter and when she moved up to the preschool room I was really nervous that she wouldn’t settle because she loved her previous room but she has really grown and has been fully supported. I can’t recommend Number 9 The Nursery enough.

My daughter has been attending Number 9 for a number of years now. In terms of the nursery, in my opinion, it is a league above all other nurseries in the area. They have a lovely big garden with lots of activities. All the rooms within the nursery are well equipped and look great. They are always investing
in improving areas of the nursery. They have many indoor activities my daughter just loves and talks about when she gets home. They also have an app that they post regular photos to, which is nice to see. The staff that I interact with are all very informative and helpful. They always inform me of what my child has been up to. This is my 2nd child that has attended here and the management have always been very helpful and caring. I appreciate all the help they have provided. Thank you!

We absolutely love sending our 1.5-year-old to Number 9. They have been so supportive in settling our son, then supporting us from a distance during the lockdown, to then reintroducing him back to the nursery setting once safe to do so. Communication is always of a high standard, paying invoices is
transparent and easy. The app which parents have access to is by far the best I've seen, and my friends with children at other nurseries are jealous of how good it is. The management clearly invest in the building, services and their staff.
Logistics aside it is a fun, educational environment for our son. His speech has come along leaps and bounds and the activities they schedule daily and weekly themes are fantastically creative and enjoyable.

We were fortunate enough to have a family to look after our son until he was 2, but soon the time came that he needed to go to the nursery to interact with other children and prepare for starting school. A quick search for outstanding nurseries in Croydon soon brought up Number 9. From my first enquiry,
the manager and assistant manager calmed my nerves and did everything they could to get him a space to suit my working hours. He started in March and settled well thanks to the excellent settling in routine but 2 weeks later came lockdown! The nursery froze fees and kept us informed of everything throughout such a stressful time for them. Then in June, after discussion with the assistant manager, we decided to put him back in and now, he runs in without a second look back and asks to go on the weekends! The staff are so caring and seem to look after their parents almost as much as the children! The communication is excellent with photos on an app each week. I’m so pleased we found Number 9.

Number 9 is a fantastic nursery. Our son has thrived there. Their approach to child development, play and learning are brilliant. Every day is filled with activity, painting, playing with water, messy play, and there is a great garden. The way he interacts and has bonded with all the workers as if they
are an extended family, and the clear pleasure he takes in going there is testimony to the high standard. The staff are responsive and inclusive to us as parents. We decided to go here even though it is further away from home, we don’t regret the decision.

When we first looked at nurseries, we were looking for somewhere with outdoor space, a big baby room and lots of facilities which this nursery has. Number 9 has a great sensory room which my daughter seems to love. She settled fairly quickly and enjoys being there. The staff seem invested in all the
children and any concerns we have had have been dealt with efficiently. Communication between parents and the nursery is great with regular updates throughout the day on the app. The staff know my daughter really well and all her needs. From being at the nursery - it has made a real difference in her development. I would recommend this nursery.

When we looked around Number 9 back in June 2019 when I was still pregnant, we loved it so much we decided to send our daughter here on the spot. All the children looked happy and fulfilled, the staff were all lovely and the building and facilities were brilliant.


Our daughter took a couple of weeks

to settle when we sent her at 9 months old but ever since she has loved it, grins and willingly goes to the staff in the morning and even gets impatient with us to hurry up in the morning to get her there! Her social skills improved immediately and we can see how much she is learning there every day as she comes home with new skills, words or noises.


Every single member of staff we meet is lovely, knowledgable and cares about our daughter.


Couldn't be happier and would highly recommend to anyone.

When we first looked at nurseries, we found it a really stressful process. As all parents do, we were thinking about how easy it would be for our son to settle in, will he like it, will they look after him and more to the point, how will we feel dropping him off there each day.
It's safe to say that
when my wife came back from visiting Number9, she refused to look at any others. She got a great feeling the second she walked into the baby room and saw the setup and level of care. She also saw how happy the children looked, and that was enough for us to entrust Number9 with the most precious thing in our world.
Safe to say when he left this summer to go to Primary School, we were really sad to say goodbye to Number9. They made him feel like he was one of the family from day one. They accommodated our requests with diet and sleep and made sure we were fully aware of every key development milestone he went through. We noticed a huge change in him within weeks of being there.

Our daughter really excelled at Number 9. We moved her from another preschool because she was bored and really did not like going. Every day was a battle to get her to go! After she moved to Number 9 she was excited to go every day and loved the different learning challenges. The staff are fantastic
and really interested in her well being and development. They give a thorough account of her day and don’t just tell us “she had a good day”. They update us on her development and where and how we can help her. The space they have for the preschoolers is also great. The garden is such a large fabulous area for the children to enjoy come rain or shine which makes it such a nice environment. The only thing my daughter wasn’t a fan of towards the end was the uniform but we loved it. Made getting ready in the morning pretty easy! The staff genuinely care. They have been especially great during the pandemic which has been really reassuring for us.

A great and warm environment with a large garden space. Some staff members are better than others and more patient and involved. The staff are preparing the children for school and giving them routines. There is lots to learn and lots to do on a daily basis. There is a good choice of food and snacks
for the day. Excellent potty/toilet training. Good communication between the child and their assigned key worker.

I think Number 9 is excellent. I can see when I have my granddaughter for the day, that even at the young age of one, she knows how to share, she sits nicely and observes what is going on around her. She loves trying new activities and is interested in everything. I am sure this is due to the care,

I have been extremely impressed by the dexterity and ethos which Number 9 The Nursery adheres to, with the key developmental stages of the children perused on the Baby Floor.
Reflecting on the solidarity and cooperation from all members of staff when issues emerged with experiences of my child change
of behaviours "Terrible two's" - I was made to be better equipped which allowed me to be prepared to use suggested techniques on how best to deal with incidents. Maintaining structure in and outside nursery has eased a lot of stresses that could have easily become out of control without this much-needed guidance, as a first time Mother. I wish to thank the team graciously for their endeavours.

My child has attended Number 9 since 10 months old. It has become a second home and she loves the idea of meeting her friends every day. The staff are very professional and most importantly they listen to your views and concerns relating to the welfare of all children at the nursery. Upon arrival, the
atmosphere is playful and fun with the emphasis on learning. I cannot underestimate how my child has developed in her language and social skills
since the start. We love the one to one every term with the staff discussing progress and highlighting areas they have of concern. The play areas are superb and are designed to encourage play without jeopardising individual freedom of expression. Toys are shared and time is given for one to one tuition in writing and simple maths, particularly in preschool. The nursery deserve their "outstanding" rating from Ofsted, justifying what parents and guardians already know about this wonderful nursery. Quite simply it's a perfect place for children.

We couldn’t be happier with Number 9. The standard of care, staff and facilities are all excellent.
My child loves the huge outdoor area, the extra activities like ballet and pro stars and most of all adores their keyworker.
Since starting preschool my child has learnt so much. The focus on helping
the kids prepare for school is excellent.

Number 9 is a fantastic nursery. Our son has been there for a year and absolutely loves it. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The care, support and learning provided to the children is brilliant and there are always new activities to try. We were worried about how our son would settle in
but after a very short time, we could see how much he enjoyed going and how much fun he would have there.
I would highly recommend this nursery. Thank you to all staff for being so great!

Alison Wilcock

Job Title: Founder, Owner and Managing Director

Alison has a wealth of experience in childcare and has been working with children all her life.


She was once a Head Teacher and understands the need to get children ready for starting school by creating a stimulating learning environment.


Alison is passionate about the Early Years and is an Early Childhood Graduate who knows the values of good foundations.


She has her own family and completely understands the pressure of a working family, Alison is passionate to support families in Croydon and enjoys nothing more than seeing the children fully engaged and happy.

Job Title: Manager and SENCO Joined: 2015

Our Manager Denise has many years experience of working with children and holds an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare.
Denise works closely with families and children with Special Educational Needs to ensure they get the right support and really enjoys seeing children with additional needs achieve new milestones.


Denise heads up the SENCo Role and is Paediatric First Aid Qualified.

Job Title: Assistant Manager Baby Room Leader Joined: 2015

Our Assistant Manager and Baby Floor leader Georgina is an Early Years Childhood degree graduate and is Paediatric First Aid Qualified.

Rosie heads up our 2-Year-Old team with passion and energy. She has been part of our team for eight years and is a Level 3 qualified practitioner with Paediatric First Aid Training. She joined us as an apprentice and is now our Assistant Manager!


She is amazing at supporting our 2-year-olds to become independent and works amazingly well with parents supporting them with milestones such as potty training.


Rosie has fun leading her team, and laughter and enjoyment for the children are her passions.

Britany joined Number 9 The Nursery as an apprentice. She has completed her Level 3 in Childcare, and she is Paediatric First Aid Trained.


Britany is full of enthusiasm and has a very caring nature and she will go above and beyond to ensure that all children settle into the nursery. She helps support our children with additional needs as our Deputy SENCo, and has qualified as our nursery PANCo as well!


She supports the 2-year-olds in gaining their independence and providing creative and fun activities for the children.

Alice has been with us since 2018 and is our Pre-School Leader. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Studies.


The children love Alice's sense of fun, and she is always creating fantastic activities for them to do.

Heather joined the Nursery in 2019 following a successful career in journalism. She helps support the Managing Director and oversees the administrative functions of Number 9 The Nursery. This is an important role within the nursery to ensure systems run smoothly.


A Mum herself to two children, she knows the demands of raising a young family alongside work commitments.
