Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school

My children have been attending this nursery for years and they have always enjoyed their time there. The staff are brilliant with them. The improvements that are ongoing will be a great addition to the setting.

Ashington has an excellent manager who clearly leads by example, with kindness and passion for making this nursery the wonderful place it is for all children.

She is getting amazing care - certainly the best decision to send both my children to Ashington Nursery.

My daughter started in the baby den almost a year ago. I was so impressed with the staff; their patience and reassurance that my little one would be well cared for. I was given a number of settling-in sessions which supported my little one move from my primary care, into nursery some of the week. The nursery use an app that let's parents know about nappies, food, sleep and general daily activities. It is so lovely to get updates during the day, especially some photos. Communication is very good and I always feel welcome to ask any questions or just share general anxieties. My little one formed a lovely bond with her keyworker, as well as several others in the den. The children all have lovely home-cooked food prepared by the chef. It has been a wonderful experience seeing my baby flourish in the nursery and develop her social skills.

She is excited to start school, but speaks often of her time at Nursery and will miss coming in!

Our little boy started at Ashington nursery when he was nearly 2. Before that, he'd been with a wonderful childminder who we loved but she stopped childminding, leaving us with 6 weeks to find alternative childcare. We were apprehensive about transitioning from a childminder to nursery, but we needn't have worried. Everyone was so helpful from day one, from the admin staff at head office to the nursery staff who showed us around. The building isn't as flashy as some nurseries but the staff are engaged, kind, fun, and really care about the children. They come up with all sorts of inventive activities for the kids to do and they're allowed to get a bit messy and have fun. They're always accommodating and tell you the good and the bad bits of your child's day - I think this is important as I'd rather know if they've had a bit of a tough day rather than the staff gloss over it. Overall I'd highly recommend Ashington.

I put my daughter into this nursery when she was just 5 months old and ever since the nursery have been fantastic. They’ve supported me and provided advice (as this was my first child) from the moment I dropped my daughter off. I can see real progress in my daughter’s speech and social skills in the year and a half she has been with the nursery. They helped wean her when she reached the right age and now she’s nearing potty training age, they are involved in how we can keep the home routine alive at nursery. As a parent you can’t ask for much more than care from the staff and an interest in helping your child develop and I cannot speak highly enough of them all. A special shout-out to the staff who have been with my daughter since her first day and who when she comes home she can’t wait to go back and see the next day. Thank you, Ashington Nursery.

Overall, I highly recommend Ashington Nursery & Pre-School for the outstanding care and attention my daughter has received. The staff are amazing, developing a genuine bond with the children. It's heartwarming to see, and nothing is too much trouble. A heartfelt thank you for everything.

My little one has been here since the baby room and goes up to preschool next week. I don’t have a bad word to say - he loves it there and always has. The staff are just wonderful - both to him and me. Great facilities, lots of outdoor time, great food, and lots of other very sweet and polite children from other families.

I’ve become quite attached to the nursery myself through seeing how happy my children are there, and I think each and every one of the staff is an absolute credit to the nursery family.

They take their time to build a bond with each and every child who attends.

Super impressed with the nursery! My son joined the preschool room in December after a turbulent closure at his previous nursery. It's always been a struggle getting my son to go to nursery as he struggles with separating from me and usually once he's in, he has a great day, but the change I've seen in him here at Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school is amazing! Now, he gets excited about going in, runs in, in the morning, hangs up his coat on the peg, and says goodbye! The team have always been so reassuring and I now leave him feeling happy he's going to have the best day! His confidence, vocabulary, and skills have noticeably improved too. Overall, couldn't be happier and would like to also mention the amazing chef who has set the standards very high for us at home!

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school. My little boy has genuinely flourished here in such a short space of time, moving him to a new preschool was a daunting experience but we have been overwhelmed by how quickly he settled. We have gone from having tears at the door every morning at his previous childcare to him looking forward to going in every day. All the staff show a genuine interest in him and his interests and the regular updates on the parent app are fantastic. Thank you to the manager and her amazing team!

My son recently started at preschool here after his current nursery closing unexpectedly. He is nearly 3 and I was very anxious about him starting a new preschool - however, my experience has been excellent at Ashington. The manager and her team have gone above and beyond to reassure us as parents and settle my son so he feels comfortable quickly. Within one day he was so so happy and hasn't stopped talking about his new nursery. They have been wonderful and supported and cared for him so well on his transition in such a short space of time. I am so grateful to them - they are all amazing.

I would have removed my child but they were happy and nearly going to school so didn't want to upset things.

My daughter has been attending Ashington Day Nursery in the baby room since January 2022 and absolutely loves it. The staff are so warm, friendly, and caring that we always feel extremely happy when we leave our daughter for the day and confident that she will have the best day developing her skills. She in fact loves it so much that she barely looks at us as we drop her off - she wants to be in the room playing as quickly as possible! The food that the on-site chef prepares is varied and healthy. We receive daily updates on what our daughter has eaten during the day and how much, which is great. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Ashington Day Nursery and we should say a special thank you to our daughter’s key worker who takes such good care of our daughter, giving us detailed updates on her day. Our daughter absolutely adores her and we know she is in very safe hands.
