Ashington is a happy, kind nursery with dedicated loyal staff who have improved this nursery in a short space of time into a place where my son thrives, and where he’s built special relationships with other children and staff. The communication with parents is open, good and consistent. This includes a board of staff, activities and meals for the day ahead. The nursery goes that bit further with ideas including cookery time, acting out story books, themed activities and creating crafts for special dates of the year to send home. The new garden is a lovely space for exploring, and children are encouraged to spend time outside every day. The nursery has an excellent chef with fresh food every day.
Ashington has an excellent manager who clearly leads by example, with kindness and passion for making this nursery the wonderful place it is for all children.

Good morning, thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave such a lovely review and wonderful comments; the nursery team will be overjoyed to see them. We really love our new garden, outdoor play is so important, and we firmly believe that children thrive whilst in nature! I love the food too, whenever I visit the nurseries I always make sure to arrive at lunchtime so I can have a little plate! We put a lot of work into our menu, working with a nutritionist to make sure that every meal is both delicious and nutritious! My daughter has been attending since October 2023. We did lots of settling sessions as she was very clingy with me and she quickly formed bonds with the lovely ladies in the baby room.
She is thriving at the nursery and she is very happy to be going to see the lovely ladies and the other children...
My daughter has been attending since October 2023. We did lots of settling sessions as she was very clingy with me and she quickly formed bonds with the lovely ladies in the baby room. She is thriving at the nursery and she is very happy to be going to see the lovely ladies and the other children in the baby room each week. She eats a wide variety of food all cooked on site by the amazing chef. There is a lot of outdoor play in the garden and always doing activities inside. All the lovely staff treat both my children with so much love.
She is getting amazing care - certainly the best decision to send both my children to Ashington Nursery.

The team at the nursery are so wonderful, and I too get that warm and cosy feeling when I visit! My son started in Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school in September 2023. He settled in very quickly and that is due to the care, love and empathy shown by everyone that works there. The staff have always been amazing with him and I’ve always been given daily updates and pictures of his time in the nursery. He enjoys his time there and has learnt so much in the past few months.

My daughter started in the baby den almost a year ago. I was so impressed with the staff; their patience and reassurance that my little one would be well cared for. I was given a number of settling-in sessions which supported my little one move from my primary care, into nursery some of the week. The nursery use an app that let's parents know about nappies, food, sleep and general daily activities. It is so lovely to get updates during the day, especially some photos. Communication is very good and I always feel welcome to ask any questions or just share general anxieties. My little one formed a lovely bond with her keyworker, as well as several others in the den. The children all have lovely home-cooked food prepared by the chef. It has been a wonderful experience seeing my baby flourish in the nursery and develop her social skills.

Communication and maintaining the nursery and parent relationship are so important to us, so it is great to hear that the use of our app is so effective. My daughter arrived at Ashington Day Nursery at the start of the year, after her previous setting closed. She initially settled well, but then had a wobble. The staff were so reassuring to her and myself, which really helped her to regain confidence in her new nursery and she soon found her feet and absolutely loved her time there. She made lots of friends and loved all the staff. The food prepared by the chef always smelt amazing when I dropped off in the mornings, and my daughter started to try different food she wouldn't normally have given a second look!
She is excited to start school, but speaks often of her time at Nursery and will miss coming in!

My daughter has been attending the nursery since January 2023, we had to move her due to the sudden closure of her previous nursery. I was so worried about her changing to a new setting and we really didn’t need to be worried at all. The whole team were so understanding of the situation and made every effort to ensure that our daughter settled easily. Communication at the end of the day is great with a detailed rundown of the day. My daughter is so excited to tell us all about what she did each day. The learning aspects are brilliant, they have taught her so much that we are amazed when she shows us her new skills (such as writing her name and reciting the alphabet.) The chef is really good, we have been navigating the milk ladder (dairy allergy) and the communication to check on each stage and checking ingredients has been so reassuring for us.
We can’t fault the team at Ashington! Thank you.

Our little boy started at Ashington nursery when he was nearly 2. Before that, he'd been with a wonderful childminder who we loved but she stopped childminding, leaving us with 6 weeks to find alternative childcare. We were apprehensive about transitioning from a childminder to nursery, but we needn't have worried. Everyone was so helpful from day one, from the admin staff at head office to the nursery staff who showed us around. The building isn't as flashy as some nurseries but the staff are engaged, kind, fun, and really care about the children. They come up with all sorts of inventive activities for the kids to do and they're allowed to get a bit messy and have fun. They're always accommodating and tell you the good and the bad bits of your child's day - I think this is important as I'd rather know if they've had a bit of a tough day rather than the staff gloss over it. Overall I'd highly recommend Ashington.

I put my daughter into this nursery when she was just 5 months old and ever since the nursery have been fantastic. They’ve supported me and provided advice (as this was my first child) from the moment I dropped my daughter off. I can see real progress in my daughter’s speech and social skills in the year and a half she has been with the nursery. They helped wean her when she reached the right age and now she’s nearing potty training age, they are involved in how we can keep the home routine alive at nursery. As a parent you can’t ask for much more than care from the staff and an interest in helping your child develop and I cannot speak highly enough of them all. A special shout-out to the staff who have been with my daughter since her first day and who when she comes home she can’t wait to go back and see the next day. Thank you, Ashington Nursery.

We are thrilled and impressed with Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-School. My daughter joined the preschool room in January after the sudden closure of her previous nursery. The manager and staff went above and beyond to ensure my daughter settled well. Nothing was too much to ask for. Since then, my daughter has flourished. The parent app provides regular updates, which are wonderful. The staff show a genuine interest in the children. Recently, they participated in the village festival day, and the children created masterpieces and paraded together around the village. A truly wonderful experience. I must mention the chef, my daughter loves the food he prepares-she has even asked if he can make her dinners at home.
Overall, I highly recommend Ashington Nursery & Pre-School for the outstanding care and attention my daughter has received. The staff are amazing, developing a genuine bond with the children. It's heartwarming to see, and nothing is too much trouble. A heartfelt thank you for everything.

I cannot rate this nursery highly enough. The staff are all so wonderful and great with the kids. My children have become very attached to them, and it’s not hard to see why. The children all have a great amount of learning/play each day, and I love to hear the different things they’ve learned when they come home. We, as parents, are kept well informed of daily activities via a handy little app where I am sent pictures of my children throughout the day!
I’ve become quite attached to the nursery myself through seeing how happy my children are there, and I think each and every one of the staff is an absolute credit to the nursery family.

This nursery is the best nursery. My daughter started in 2020, and she has grown so much in her social skills and her speech and language. The staff are amazing, and my daughter has bonded with all of them. I couldn’t recommend this nursery enough.

Super impressed with the nursery! My son joined the preschool room in December after a turbulent closure at his previous nursery. It's always been a struggle getting my son to go to nursery as he struggles with separating from me and usually once he's in, he has a great day, but the change I've seen in him here at Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school is amazing! Now, he gets excited about going in, runs in, in the morning, hangs up his coat on the peg, and says goodbye! The team have always been so reassuring and I now leave him feeling happy he's going to have the best day! His confidence, vocabulary, and skills have noticeably improved too. Overall, couldn't be happier and would like to also mention the amazing chef who has set the standards very high for us at home!

The team really do work hard to make sure that our newest family members feel safe and comfortable at nursery, which was especially important in your case due to the unusually quick transition, so I really am overjoyed to read this. We are so proud of our menu, which was put together by our team of talented chefs, in conjunction with a nutritionist - I do hope that you have received copies of our cookbooks which contain the secrets of our kitchens! If not, please ask your nursery manager for a copy, they are great!

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Ashington Day Nursery & Pre-school. My little boy has genuinely flourished here in such a short space of time, moving him to a new preschool was a daunting experience but we have been overwhelmed by how quickly he settled. We have gone from having tears at the door every morning at his previous childcare to him looking forward to going in every day. All the staff show a genuine interest in him and his interests and the regular updates on the parent app are fantastic. Thank you to the manager and her amazing team!

My son recently started at preschool here after his current nursery closing unexpectedly. He is nearly 3 and I was very anxious about him starting a new preschool - however, my experience has been excellent at Ashington. The manager and her team have gone above and beyond to reassure us as parents and settle my son so he feels comfortable quickly. Within one day he was so so happy and hasn't stopped talking about his new nursery. They have been wonderful and supported and cared for him so well on his transition in such a short space of time. I am so grateful to them - they are all amazing.

My child has recently left Ashington nursery which progressively went downhill since the beginning of the year.
Frequent changes of staff with lack of interest in the children. Poor feedback about what they'd done or eaten. 4 photos of my child in 2 years, no Christmas decorations, Mother's Day...
My child has recently left Ashington nursery which progressively went downhill since the beginning of the year. Frequent changes of staff with lack of interest in the children. Poor feedback about what they'd done or eaten. 4 photos of my child in 2 years, no Christmas decorations, Mother's Day cards, etc or work brought home. Things that were asked to be worked on weren't such as ensuring my child visited the toilet and writing. Graduation was a last-minute thing that many couldn't make as they had already left or were on holiday. The final day went without any sort of send-off or recognition of it being the last day which was sad for me.
I would have removed my child but they were happy and nearly going to school so didn't want to upset things.

I am very dismayed to read your comments and feel they completely misrepresent the actual series of events you refer to. You and I exchanged several emails earlier this year on a couple of points which were resolved, so I am bewildered why you would take to a public forum to lambast the very people you happily entrusted to care for your child for the rest of the year. Our team commit all of their time to meet the needs of every child - this is a highly challenging and complex task; especially when some children simply do not want to make Christmas decorations or Mother's Day cards. Our educators find that when this happens better results are achieved by not pressuring the child; although their job is only made more difficult if the child feels pressured by its parents.
My team found your behaviour thoroughly demotivating and exhausting and your review is in stark contrast to those of other very happy parents.

My daughter has been attending Ashington Day Nursery in the baby room since January 2022 and absolutely loves it. The staff are so warm, friendly, and caring that we always feel extremely happy when we leave our daughter for the day and confident that she will have the best day developing her skills. She in fact loves it so much that she barely looks at us as we drop her off - she wants to be in the room playing as quickly as possible! The food that the on-site chef prepares is varied and healthy. We receive daily updates on what our daughter has eaten during the day and how much, which is great. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with Ashington Day Nursery and we should say a special thank you to our daughter’s key worker who takes such good care of our daughter, giving us detailed updates on her day. Our daughter absolutely adores her and we know she is in very safe hands.
