Our twin daughters have attended Shooting Stars Nursery since they were 18 months old and are now leaving for school in August. They have both progressed so much during their time there, from learning to walk to becoming confident little girls. Most importantly, they've always loved going to nursery.
One of our daughters has SEN needs, and the support from the staff has been amazing. SENCO has been especially fantastic, helping us through the EHCP process quickly and smoothly. Without her guidance and support, we would have felt completely lost.

The facilities are excellent, clean, well-organised, and full of engaging activities that keep the children learning and having fun. Shay has come on so much since starting, and it's a credit to the environment and the team.
We really appreciate the regular updates at pick-up, where staff take the time to talk through Shay's day. It makes such a difference feeling involved and informed. On top of that, the occasional updates and photos on the app are a lovely touch-it's great to get those little glimpses into what they've been up to during the day.

Our daughter is always excited to go in and talk to the staff and her friends. We have even added on a day just because she loves it so much. We can see a massive difference with her speech (vocabulary mainly) and confidence in herself.
Staff are super friendly and very supportive and mirroring our own routines in nursery. Our daughter is now 99% dry (accidents happen-she is only 2!) after them following our potty training routine.
Her room staff is also very empathetic and comforting (I have seen them giving her a cuddle when she was upset and that's exactly what she needs when she is sad).
Handovers are thorough and we get a daily dairy online to see what she ate and what activity they did that day. Cameras are also available to check on her while she is in nursery. Very useful!

The girls at the Nursery in Hinckley Baby Room since my little girl joined have been nothing but personable, caring and considerate for her needs. Fast forward to September 2024 and our initial impressions were not wrong. Our son was at first very distressed and it took him a while to settle. The staff were so compassionate, reassuring and patient, not to mention persistent! Their hard work paid off and he has now formed an amazing bond with his key worker!
Since September he has developed so well and we've loved seeing him engage in the varied activities. The staff encourage the children to engage with new sensory stimuli and they thoughtfully plan activities to suit their interests. This is timely communicated on the app. The facilities are engaging - my son loves the sensory room! The menu is also incredible, he eats so well each day!

Our first experiences of the nursery since our child started in Sep 24 have all been excellent. We have been impressed by the friendliness of all the staff and our baby's development has been amazing so far. He loves going to nursery and spending time there. We are also impressed by the transparency of the daily updates provided on the app and the ability to check on our child via nursery cam. Shooting Stars at Hinckley are exceptional. Their manner, dedication, support and facilities embody everything you could ever wish for in a childcare provider - and more. They are the fourth nursery I've experienced and by far the highest standard. My child cannot wait to attend, having formed strong bonds with all the staff and being given opportunities to develop in a fun and engaging way. Whether it's messy play, song time, outdoor exploration or meal times, he loves every minute. The staff relationships with parents is also outstanding, always greeting with a smile, personalising interactions and showing that nothing is ever too much trouble. I 100% recommend Shooting Stars.

Being a very nervous parent to twins, one of which has complex health needs, it was really important to find the right nursery for us all!
From the minute I set foot in Shooting Stars for our look around I immediately felt at ease. We had to look at the nursery of two very different children's perspectives. The nursery catered for both above and beyond.
We had our first stay-and-play where we were able to stay and talk to all the practitioners which also put our minds at ease. I told them all about my worries and concerns to which they listened and reassured me. With my daughter, I was concerned about how the other children and about the environment she would be in. I explained my concerns and on my second visit, it was clear that all my concerns had been listened to and they had put fantastic plans into place. The equipment and activities they have for both of my children are fantastic. Would recommend it to everyone.

My daughter has been at Shooting Stars now since she was 9 months old, she’s now 2.4 years old and still loving being at nursery. I feel like Shooting Stars Hinckley really focuses on childhood development and offers great learning opportunities for my daughter. She thoroughly enjoys going to nursery and can’t wait to tell me what she’s got up to at nursery when I pick her up. The large rooms with lots of different resources for my daughter to explore and great garden space offer her plenty of room to run around and enjoy herself outside which she thoroughly loves! The staff are always really happy and polite when we’re around and give great feedback on my daughter’s day which is really reassuring to hear. Highly recommend.

My favourite thing about Shooting Stars is the amazing menu they have for the children. They provide high-quality, nutritious, diverse food every day. They all sit together and eat the same thing which has really helped prevent any picky eating issues. My daughter consistently eats 2-3 plates of every meal - including the veggies! Couldn’t be happier with Shooting Stars and would recommend it in a heartbeat. So grateful for the tireless work all the staff members put in, from the people in the rooms to management, and everyone else who keeps it running smoothly. Thank you for everything you do!

Highly recommend this nursery. I have two children who both attend/attended here and would not go anywhere else. My eldest left preschool in August and my youngest has just started in baby room at 7 months old. The staff are extremely friendly, they really care and look after the children individually, building a very special bond. The rooms are clean and full of so many resources for the children to play with. There is a variety of food and my eldest always loved the food she was given!

Meet the Team (3)
Mel has nearly 18 years of experience in childcare, beginning her career as a childminder before moving into nursery settings as her own children reached preschool age. Her passion for early years education flourished as she progressed into management roles, where she discovered a love for supporting teams to create inspiring environments and encouraging collaborative leadership.
Mel completed her Foundation Degree in 2015 and most recently achieved her National Professional Qualification in Early Years Leadership. She is committed to continuous professional development and is 1 year of her Bachelor of Arts in Early Years Childhood at Northampton University.
With a strong interest in supporting children with additional needs, Mel believes that “what is essential for some is good for all.” She is particularly focused on enhancing communication, language, and social-emotional development through targeted interventions and group work.
Mel has deep ties to the local community, having worked with the Westfield Community Development Association for many years. She is excited to build on these connections and actively participate in events such as the Christmas Tree Festival.
Outside of nursery life, Mel is a proud mum of four boys and enjoys a sporty lifestyle. Recently retired from playing football herself, she now enjoys cheering from the sidelines — especially for Manchester United. She also loves travelling and recently ticked New York off her bucket list!
Steph joined Shooting Stars in 2022, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the Early Years sector. Her journey began in 2008 as an apprentice, and she has since progressed through a wide range of roles, including practitioner, room leader, deputy manager, nursery manager, senior manager, and now area manager. Steph has held leadership positions in Early Years management since 2011, consistently demonstrating a strong focus on quality improvement, staff development, and inspirational leadership.
She is particularly passionate about musicality and supporting strong language development in young children, and she enjoys embedding music and rhythm into daily routines to enhance communication and engagement. Steph also has a keen interest in designing stimulating and inspiring learning environments that nurture curiosity and creativity.
In her current role as area manager, Steph is committed to empowering staff to develop their own individual and visionary leadership skills. She believes in fostering a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous growth across all settings she supports.
Outside of work, Steph enjoys walking, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of holidays—whether relaxing or exploring new destinations.
Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.
Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.
Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.
A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Well-being is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.
At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.
Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
