We looked at quite a few nurseries in both the city centre and in South Liverpool but I knew before finishing my viewing for Holyrood Day Nursery Princes Dock that my little boy would be going there. It offers something a bit different to the other places we had seen. The resources are beautiful and encourage creativity and curiosity for early years learning. The group spaces are super spacious with lots of room and a light feel. The staff are lovely and its really refreshing to see a diverse, representative workforce which includes quite a few male care givers. My little boy loves it there.
Staff so helpful. Always there if you need something /have a question. The manager is doing great in her new role and she has progressed so much in the past 2 years. Some lovely staff members that are there for a while now and make this nursery one of the best from Liverpool.
Can't say enough how great this nursery and staff are. My daughter struggled with shyness after this year of being anti socialised due to covid. Since she started a month ago the difference in her confidence is amazing and lovely to see and she has developed so much within that short amount of time. The staff are always so warm and friendly and it's nice to feel completely at ease leaving her with them all.
I just want to comment on how great the nursery has been over the last few months. The communication over the pandemic has been brilliant. We were always updated throughout and they were very accommodating with any changes we had to make.
What a nursery. My boy has been there for just over a year and I couldn’t be happier with his progress. He is happy to go in everyday and always smiling when I collect him. The staff have been wonderful from day one. The staff in the baby room know my son inside out and always make him feel comfortable. The explorers' room he is in now where his key worker helps him to shine. But, all the staff know the kids inside out and my son is always learning new things from different carers. I also love that they have male nursery staff as I think that it's important for a child growing up to have different role models to look up to.
Holyrood nursery is an excellent, active and healthy environment for young babies and children. We are delighted with the care our daughter receives.
Amazing nursery! I could not be happier with the help and support we have received from Holyrood for our son. His development has come on leaps and bounds with the help of the staff and if I have ever had any questions or needed help and advice, they have been great in this aspect! Could not recommend them highly enough.
Fantastic nursery, always lots going on, lovely staff. My daughter loves coming here, she especially loves the soft play area, it’s hard to get her home most evenings.
Well done everyone!
My daughter has been attending this nursery since she was 12 months old and is now two and a half. She adores nursery, it has been lovely to watch her grow, develop confidence, skills and friendships with the support of nursery staff. Every key worker she has had has been fantastic, nothing is ever too much trouble whether it be specific dietary requirements, potty training support or medical care.
Regarding the specific ratings, I have rated management good rather than excellent, because I think there are instances where communication could be more proactive/consistent. For example, some updates are via text message or email and some are just on posters in the nursery, so it can be easy to miss things when you’re in a rush at drop off time. This is only a small thing and we do get phone calls when we need to be advised directly of something e.g a bump on the head at playtime. When my younger child is ready for nursery, I will be 100% confident in enrolling her at Holyrood too.
Thank you.
My daughter has attended Holyrood Princes Dock since April and the staff team have been amazing. Knowing how anxious I was about leaving my daughter, they really did put me at ease and make the whole transition enjoyable for myself and my daughter. I couldn't recommend the nursery enough!
I have nothing but praise for all of the staff here. Every key worker my little boy has had have been amazing, I cannot fault them at all.
He has progressed so much, loves to learn and enjoys playing with all of his little friends.
The nursery has been really supportive with the transitions from room to room and also helping him with his toilet training, which has helped us immensely.
From day 1, I have felt comfortable leaving my boy in the care of the staff there and nothing was too much trouble when I used to call up to check on how he was doing (in baby rooms).
I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone.
This nursery is by far the best! Amazing staff and excellent facilities! My son loves coming and I know he’s in great hands there! All the staff are a credit to the company!
I thanks so much to the managers, key workers and staff in general.
Very happy with the nursery, I’ll recommend anytime.
I chose to put my daughter into this nursery when she was 9 months old and as a parent, I was extremely cautious as which nursery would suit me and my daughter. Holyrood staff were warm and welcoming and put me at ease straight away when it came to actually have to leave my daughter with total strangers for the first time. now my daughter is three and has blossomed within the nursery. they have taken on her difficulties of a morning when she is screaming after mama as she wants to be with me brilliantly guaranteed within five minutes of a tantrum the staff have my daughter settled and playing with all the other kids. I cannot thank every single person enough for helping. Every single person in the nursery knows my daughter's name and will always give a good welcome every time we walk through the door. The nursery has brought my daughter on in leaps and bounds and has made her more confident. The nursery I would highly recommend to anyone.
The staff are friendly, lovely atmosphere, the nursery clean, clean food and healthy foods, they respect all the religions.
Great nursery. Really approachable warm and friendly. I have always felt safe leaving my child here and haven’t had any complaints for the two and a half years he has attended. His key workers have been brilliant with him and I have established great relationships with them and I would feel comfortable talking to them should any issues arise.
Both my sons attend and love the nursery, great location and friendly staff. All round good nursery. Very secure environment and plenty of activities for all ages.
I’m extremely happy when I put my son in this nursery because he learned many things and now he can speak a little English. I want to thank everyone who contributed to the development of my son.

Meet the Team (2)
'Hello, my name is Lynne Billington, and I am delighted to start as nursery manager, working alongside the fabulous team you already have.
I have over 20 years of Early Years experience, as well as being an Early Years Specialist holding a senior role in my last position. I have experience working at Princess Dock many years ago, and I am thrilled to be coming back. Education-wise, I have a BA QTS EYPS. My previous setting has achieved an Outstanding Ofsted grade, as have other settings I have supported.
I have a true passion for making a difference in your little ones' lives and look forward to working alongside you, watching them grow into confident learners.
Personally, I am a mother of 3 grown-up children and a nanny to 3 wonderful grandchildren who keep me on my toes. I have been married for 35 years this year, and my husband is a paramedic who works in the Liverpool area.
Hayley works hard to create a wonderful nursery environment where children can flourish and thrive.
