Bright Horizons Dorking Day Nursery and preschool is conveniently located close to Dorking train station and provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

With a large garden and in walking distance to a park, the children can take advantage of a variety of resources at the nursery, including an Art Studio and a sensory room for the younger children. The nursery also offers swimming lessons for the preschool children.

My child attends this nursery three days a week. He is excited about going and comes home happy. The staff are happy, caring and fun. The range of activities is fantastic, particularly sport, art and swimming as well as pre-school learning. The management is excellent and quick to deal with any queries.
I would thoroughly recommend this nursery.

I am delighted by the progression my daughter has made in the last 3 months of starting at Active Learning. She has enjoyed learning the months of the year, planet names, counting, letters, as well as the art work, sports, ballet and swimming. The staff are very friendly and caring towards my daughter.
As a mother, I feel very uncomfortable leaving her in nursery 4 days per week. It is a nursery that I would highly recommend.

Both of my sons have had an amazing time at his nursery. The friendliness of the staff immediately puts the children and parents at ease. Substantial effort has been made to provide a range of development activities, with dedicated staff members leading sport, art and pre-school lessons. Special theme
days are also well supported enthusiastically including world book day, mothers day, and charity events such as red nose day. The menu is well balanced and currently well received by my youngest. I would have no problems recommending this nursery to family and friends.

The staff are always happy and friendly, even in the mornings when it seems so busy the girls are looking calm and mutli tasking so many other things but still make time to welcome every child and make the day start smoothly. The rooms are lovely laid out and the work of the children is displayed everywhere.
The team here are lovely and it shows when my daughter comes home happy and with drawings and evidence on her clothes to the day she's had.

My son has developed beautifully over the course of the last year and a half. He loves nursery, his peers and teachers.


It would be nice to have parents sit in more, for example, to watch ballet or sports or even art and French. The staff are amazing and really look after the children.


It would've

great to see more discipline being allowed by the teachers. Timeout is a great tool for unruly children. Children have to learn respect and crave guidance which comes through constructive criticism. Perhaps get suggestions from the type of discipline parents use at home, and use techniques to keep consistency in the discipline at nursery and home.

Great nursery with great staff who are brilliant with the children in all aspects. It's always clean and has a good range of activities for the children throughout the year. My son has been there for nearly 3 years and is so happy there. I would highly recommend it.

My son's both attended Active Learning from about 18 months of age. The warmth and friendliness they were greeted with by every person they came across put me at total ease that this nursery cared for the individual. I have loved seeing the boys grow and develop in this environment. Great teachers,
awesome projects, a fantastic outdoor play area, lovingly prepared food. I couldn't have asked for more!! A highly recommended nursery.

I have been extremely impressed with the level of care William has received since starting at Active Learning. Physically he has developed at a rate of knots, when he started 2 weeks ago he couldn't crawl. Now he is crawling and pulling himself up to standing position. He loves the activities and
interacting with the other babies. He is continuing to develop into a confident, social little boy.

The team at Active Learning have made my son very welcome and the whole process has been smooth and efficient. The reasons I chose Active Learning in Dorking was the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly and welcoming team and most of all the security. One of the other highlights for me is I am
able to watch my son on a webcam. At the beginning, this enabled me to check in on him after I dropped him off upset, only to see 5 minutes later he was happy and being comforted by the team.
The activities are varied for him each day which includes messy play (with sand, paint, water etc), colouring in, singing, dancing and time in a sensory room. The meal plan is healthy and nutritious which is a big plus for me.
The most important above all else is my son is really happy when he is at the nursery and after being there just 4 months, he has made friends.
I have already recommended this nursery to my friends who had concerns about the route to take when going back to work.

Active Learning Dorking provides a safe, fun environment for my daughter. She comes home full of stories about all the day's activities. She loves art and sport and is really enjoying her lessons with the new nursery teacher. She randomly comes out with various French words at home and often shows us
her ballet and yoga!


Last week (Children in Need fundraiser) was fantastic and I have never seen her so keen to get to nursery in her different outfits!


Thank you all for your continuing hard work - I often dash in and out and don't have time to stop and chat but do appreciate everything you are all doing.

Would recommend Active Learning Dorking to anyone. Our son loves going and continues to surprise us with what he has learnt there. Everyone we have dealt with has been friendly, helpful and flexible to our needs. This last point was not something we found at one of the other nurseries in Dorking when
we were looking.

From day one, the team at Active Learning Dorking have been a pillar of support in helping the difficult transition for both us as parents and for our son in beginning nursery. Despite the tears on some occasions, I have never been in any doubt that the staff were on hand to not just 'take care' of
him but give him a cuddle or sing him a song in order to make him feel better. From the great selection of food, to the variation in activities to the great communication about how my child is developing-the team have been superb!

Since gaining my NNEB qualification in 1995 I began my career in Childcare, and have worked within Bright Horizons since 2003 where I have worked in various settings across the regions, starting as a Nursery Nurse and working up to my current role as Nursery Manager since 2013.


I enjoy all aspects of my role and work alongside my team to provide the children in our care with the best opportunities for learning and play.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Paige has been with Bright Horizons since 2016, during which she completed her Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development. Starting as a nursery assistant, she steadily advanced to the position of Deputy Manager. Currently, Paige serves as the nursery’s SENCO (Special Needs Coordinator) and holds a Level 3 Award in Early Years SEN Coordination. At Dorking, the team collaborates to ensure all children under their care receive enriching learning opportunities conducive to their growth and development.


Paige is deeply committed to providing exceptional care and provision to the children, fostering a nurturing, safe, and joyful environment. Witnessing the children's learning, development, and progress within the nursery brings her immense joy and fulfilment.
