Your Co-op Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-school Charlton supports the transition to school as they have a link to Sherrington Primary School meaning their children have direct access to the school grounds. They make regular supervised visits to the classrooms, use the assembly halls and see the bigger children in their environment.
They are big on happy children. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world. The nursery holds the prestigious Green Flag Status Award (the highest possible), an Eco-school programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.
They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained and they have 5 Little Pioneers who help share their core values with the children, such as encouraging them to be independent to making a difference in the world.
They also have a ParentZone app that keeps mums and dads informed about life at nursery which includes photos from their day, meals eaten, assessments and even toilet training progress!
Each age group 0-2 and 2-5 years have their own rooms which they have personalised to create their own areas they can enjoy. The nursery has a luxurious balcony for the over twos which has a roof canopy allowing the children to extend their play in an outdoor environment.
Babies have a separate soft surface garden area with artificial grass, giving them varied textures to begin to explore the outside world in play. There are musical toys and mirrors attached to the walls to provide stimulating play.

About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 52 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
- This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 52 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 21.9 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

My son has been in Butterflies now for 5 months and in that time he has grown in confidence in his manner and speech. He has a strong bond with the carers there, in fact, he wants to go back when I pick him up at lunchtime. The food and activities have been a success and seem focused in direction e.g. shapes, sizes, numbers, painting and other play. The relationship with the parent is also appropriate with informal updates at the nursery daily via the app and formally through the newsletters and parent/teacher meeting - so as a family we are happy.

Everyone has been incredibly supportive and accommodating of this. I love the community vibe the nursery has and my son loves going here.
Staff and management do an excellent job!

I had a terrible experience with a different nursery in Charlton and was really worried about trying another nursery setting (I had used childminders successfully in the past), but I am so glad I chose to put my trust in the manager and the team. My son has blossomed under their care and I would not hesitate to recommend the nursery to every single parent!
My son loves being in the nursery and that makes me very happy. The staff are brilliant, helpful and professional.

My son has been with The Co-operative Childcare Charlton Nursery since he was 2 years old and he is turning 4 in the summer. He settled in really well and the staff have always been helpful and supportive whenever we have any queries or concerns. They care for and communicate with the children very well. We are always kept up to date with how they are progressing in accordance with their age and what is expected and they allow lots of room for learning through play. My son has become very confident and happy and his communication has developed very well. All the staff are amazing and there are very clean areas and great outdoor space for the children to play.
My child took a long time to settle but staff have been patient and understanding. The parents evening was helpful and informative. We felt like the staff knew our child. We are especially impressed with the learning activities. The expectations are high.

The staff at the Co-operative Charlton are simply wonderful. I feel confident and happy to leave my 2 little ones with them. They are professional and friendly and I know if there was ever a concern, I could talk to them. The manager is running a great team and is passionate about the kids and the...
I love that they play with loads of materials. They bake and they sing and I'm always hearing a new nursery song on the way home. They are elated to see me at hometime but they love their time at nursery, I can see it and they have come along way. Both my children have homework and I encourage it. It gives me time to spend doing something educational with them and introduces me to how else I can help their progress. A wonderful idea introduced was fruit at pick up time. It's a small gesture but a wonderful one. Keep up the great ideas and wonderful work!

Provides a great variety of food and caters for different dietary requirements as well as being healthy. Plenty of fruit and veg. Allows time them to have a nap should they need one. The staff always keeps us updated with the children's development and works with them if there are any areas where may not be progressing as well. Management easily accessible and also helps out with the children everyone knows who everyone is we love them.
The little break off groups to participate in certain activities helps to ensure they get more attention.
Lovely, caring, friendly but firm carers.

I am very happy with my son’s care at nursery. He only does two half days a week but is always very happy going in and always tells us that he’s had a great time. He enjoys a range of activities and we love hearing about how he is doing and what he is playing with from his key worker. The communication from the key worker was initially a bit sketchy following the switch from written day sheets to the use of ParentZone, but after I addressed this with the management things improved immediately. I always find that raising issues with the management is immediately effective. I feel listened to and understood and I am made to feel that my child is important to them.
The team is fantastic. They are looking after our little boy very well. They are caring and helpful even when he feels sick.

Our Daughter's creativity with drawing, confidence, sharing with Others and vocabulary has greatly improved giving us the confidence that we indeed made the right nursery choice.
Communication from Management and Our Daughter's Key person is extremely good, in that we are able to share ideas on how as Parents can support our Daughters development at the same time keeping us informed on current and future events at the School. This makes us feel Valued as key partners.

Management is excellent all round and keen to take on any comments and suggestions on board. The Manager has worked extremely hard to achieve and maintain the excellent standards.
The facilities and environment have improved so much since my eldest child attended (my third child is currently there). I would highly recommend this nursery and wouldn't hesitate to send my fourth child there.
Would recommend. Staff are very good and caring.

We are very happy and would like to recommend this nursery to friends!
We chose this nursery for its extended opening hours which made a huge difference when commuting into London and having to rely on trains. The extra 30 mins at each end gave us a buffer in case there were any delays. We also chose it for the lovely and spacious outdoor area in both rooms. I loved...
The staff are all amazing and I would definitely recommend this nursery.

The staff are great, they really care about the children being happy and learning, perhaps because of its a not for profit organisation but I have never got the feeling that they are rushed and doing the bare minimum like a lot of profit making enterprises.
We are often asked if there is anything that we are not happy about an encouraged to say so if there was anything, I have never had any comment to make but when minor things are picked up they are always quick to do whatever is needed to address any issue
