Acorns House is located close to Cardiff City Centre in Park Grove. The nursery is made of three Victorian buildings, carefully renovated to provide a warm, light and airy environment where all children can learn, develop and grow.

Children have access to a range of facilities, including creative, messy construction, playrooms and peaceful cot rooms.

The nursery staff works to ensure each child has a fun, memorable time at the nursery. During their time, children can benefit from home-cooked meals within a glass roofed dining room, overlooking the garden area.

Staff offer children a wide range of play options, including sensory play, holistic and heuristic play, soft play, music and movement, role play, art and sand and water.

Now open from 7am to 6pm.

I moved both my boys to Acorns from a different nursery and wish I had done it earlier, the older one was 3, and the younger 1 when they started, just the younger boy remains. They both love Acorns and the staff there, always coming home and telling me what they had been up to that day and showing me
the pictures or food they had made, and speaking of the friends played with. The staff couldn't be more helpful, the manager knows each child and their parents by name and makes this such a welcoming and personal approach. I couldn't be happier with the way my children have been cared for and recommend Acorns to anyone who will listen.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Lovely staff. My child goes in a couple of days a week and is always looking forward to these 2 days. He does not even look back to wave goodbye when we drop him in the morning. I would recommend this nursery to all my friends.

My great-niece attends the Park Grove Acorns and absolutely loves it! The staff are so friendly and professional. My niece has come on leaps and bounds in every way since attending. Highly recommended.

My little girl started nursery in challenging times and she has settled right in. The staff have been so welcoming, she doesn't even look back when she goes in. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

My son is two and a half and has been at Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre) since he was eight months old and it is like a second home to him. I have been so, so impressed with them, not only in the way they look after the children but for what they teach and how they really get to know
each and every child. His speech and social skills are a reflection of how well they teach the kids to play and learn there and I am forever grateful for the things they do with the children on a day to day basis. This past year they have been a Godsend with Covid-19 and how they have gone about looking after and protecting the kids has been amazing. I would recommend Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre) to anyone looking for a nursery.

We chose Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre) for our son as we’d heard fantastic reviews from friends and as soon as I visited the nursery I knew it would be the right environment for him to develop and grow as a toddler. The staff are ten steps ahead at all times and I have complete faith
in their knowledge and capabilities. Their warm welcome each morning is a delight and my son never wants to leave at pick-up, what a great sign! I can’t thank them enough for all they do for us as a family.

Absolutely love sending my little girl to Acorns House in Park Grove, she always comes out with the best smile and telling us how much fun she has had there, also the activities that they do! Our youngest daughter attended this nursery between the ages of one to three and we were really happy with the care she received. Staff always made a fuss of her on arrival, provided a wide range of activities and really cared about her. She loved going in every day right up until she left to start
school. We were also delighted with the care and attention they gave our eldest daughter last summer while her school was closed, making her incredibly welcome. They even involved her in the graduation ceremony despite her being there for just the summer. Thanks from my wife and I to all the staff for everything they did for the our girls!

I would recommend this nursery over and over again. They take the best care of our precious son and have done so much towards his development over the years. He loves going here and all the staff are so caring. Special mention to one member of staff who has been such a big part of our sons life and

My daughter joined Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre) at the age of ten months. I will never forget my first visit to Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre). The manager welcomed me with a warmth that set me at ease immediately. The selling point for me was the way the children reacted
to the manager and the key workers, with excitement and hugs. In my view children don’t lie and so seeing this was the best review I could have ever received. The guidance and support we have had from Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre) has been outstanding. My daughter not only loved her time there but development wise, I would see her taking huge strides each week. For anyone worried about handing their most precious thing over, you can’t go wrong with Acorns House (Park Grove, Cardiff City Centre), they’re incredible.

My child has developed so well both cognitively and emotionally since being at Acorns. All of the nurses are so attentive, caring and amazing with children, my daughter loves them all. There are regular activities where my child can practice and learn skills. The same routine is followed each day with
different activities each day which is great for the children’s sense of stability. I also really enjoy the monthly emails which get sent to all parents with the activities for the month as well as the menu which is really useful to see what the children are doing and eating. Overall this is a fantastic nursery, with a fantastic staff and ethos!

Our son has attended Acorns House nursery for over 3.5 years and we are extremely satisfied with the nursery, staff and care he has received. The facilities at Acorns House are wonderful and the staff are excellent. The high level of personal service is extended beyond that to the children who attend,
but to the parents as well. We are very happy with the communications that we receive - from our son’s key carers every day, from management and the company directors. Staff are always on hand to discuss any queries and are very supportive. The nursery should be commended on their handling of the covid-19 situation and all the steps and precautions that they have put in place. We are very grateful that nursery continues to open during this time and the level of care and education our son receives continues to be high. Our son enjoys going to nursery and always chats happily about what he’s been up to that day. Many thanks to all at Acorns House.

As mums, I think it is natural to second guess decisions that we make when it comes to our children. I can wholeheartedly say that this is one decision I have never questioned! Both of my children attend Acorns House and are absolutely thriving there. The staff put so much effort into getting to know
each child, every day is full of fun and engaging activities, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. There is no better feeling than leaving your children with people that you know will treat them as if they are their own!

Joanne Perkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1999

I started working for Acorns nurseries in 1999 as a Nursery Nurse, progressing to an Assistant Manager then a Nursery Manager.


I have managed Acorns St Mellons, Acorns Oakfield Street and Acorns House since September 2022.


I love being a hands on manager interacting with staff and children, I love art and crafts, seeing what wonderful masterpieces the children can create!
