The staff focus on the children's physical and mental development, as well as protecting the general health, hygiene and nutrition of children, who they respect as developing individuals. The nursery has its own music room, a creative studio and a soft play area, with family events also regular occurrences.

I love this nursery! My two kids go and I will be really sad when the first one leaves for school in September. She has been there since she was 1. The staff are amazing and it is extremely well run by the manager! I have been so impressed by their flexible approach and how committed they are (staying
open all through the snow!) and the staff clearly love the kids. It’s like home from home but they’re allowed to be a lot more messy!

This is a brilliant nursery run by a wonderful manager. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and always interacting with all children even if they are not in their group. Facilities simply cannot be faulted. Very clean and always organised. The food is healthy and always varied. I simply love this nursery
and wouldn't send my kids anywhere else.

My daughter loves coming to nursery. The range of activities she gets to try is far more than we can do at home. Her motor skills and language skills are coming on great thanks to the interaction she gets with all the wonderful staff.

Our 2 and 1/2-year-old daughter has been attending Kids 1st Hexham for the last 18months. The manager and her team are incredible! They are all enthusiastic and cheerful. Nothing ever seems too much trouble. They actively engage with us as a family to meet our Daughters needs. The food is home cooked
and nutritious. The outdoor space and facilities are brilliant.
Our Daughter has the most fantastic time while there and that to us as parents is priceless. We cannot thank the team enough.

My 28-month-old son has been attending this nursery for 20 months now and is very happy here. The staff are always friendly and approachable. My son often has some separation anxiety when I leave him, as we spend a lot of time just the two of us, but the staff are kind and patient with him. If I have
any concerns I am happy that the staff listen to them and if necessary take appropriate action. My son has also recently transitioned from 3 mornings to one full day, and he has found this hard. I thank the staff for their patience with him and me when I phone to check on him.

As a relatively nervous first time mother - taking my son to a nursery was a rather daunting experience. Everyone at Kids First made me feel at ease, reassuring me of how happy he was there and ultimately dissolving any anxiety I had about leaving him - not only at the nursery but with anyone else.
The amount he has grown socially and independently in such a short amount of time is astonishing and I only have the nursery to thank.

My son loves nursery. He is using the physical room with a parachute, painting, drawing, play day, discos and all else that is offered. Especially the love that is given by staff. My son loves a cuddle and I know whilst I am not able, he will get them!

The care that my little boy gets at Kids 1st is excellent. He loves going there and I feel happy and confident leaving him there. The staff are fantastic and really care for the kids they look after. I couldn't be more happy with the care my son gets.

Since my two children have started nursery (summer 2016) I have had a very good experience altogether. My children (daughter 14 months and son 3 years old) are very happy to be here. They love coming in, the staff, the food and all the activities that are organised. Lots of cuddles and love in the baby
room and the environment is quite relaxed. Outside time and interesting activities (like French, Dance etc) in the preschool room. My children are happy here and so am I.

Eleanor Borrowdale

Job Title: Centre Director

My name is Eleanor Borrowdale I have worked in childcare all my adult life. I Qualified as a level 3 (NNEB) and then completed a degree in Childcare studies.


I have worked at Kids1st Hexham since May 22 and I have enjoyed developing rooms and promoting curiosity play and natural resources. I am a SENCO and enjoy working with outside agencies to ensure all children reach their full potential.


I am proud of the success I have achieved over the last few years, and I hope to continue with this in the future.
