This nursery is exceptional and received an 'outstanding' Ofsted accreditation in May 2018.

Situated at Whitley Lodge in the grounds of Whitley Lodge First School the purpose-built stand-alone nursery is well resourced and offers outstanding quality care for babies and children aged one year to four years in Whitley Bay.

Open plan rooms with a well-organised layout provide the children with free access to a wide and stimulating range of activities, whilst keeping the company ethos of creating a home from home environment.

The nursery also offers a breakfast club, after school and wrap around care with the school together with a holiday club for all.

The nursery is proud to have the prestigious Millies's Mark accreditation awarded in 2018, having this award demonstrates the nursery's commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe.

All staff working directly with children not only hold a paediatric first aid certificate but are also competent in how to apply this in practice.

Both of my children have attended Zone4kids and now my youngest has started school, we continue to use the after school care here. All of the staff are lovely and make great relationships with the children. There's a great range of activities available and a great outdoor space, to play in. We also,
use the school holiday club. there are varied activities from day to day and my children always enjoy it. The food is varied and sounds delicious. We would not hesitate to recommend Zone4kids to anyone.

Absolutely outstanding level of support and care provided to my son, over the last couple of years. The staff are brilliant and always ensure, I have a full understanding of the daily activities my child is involved in. It is clear to me, that the staff are very dedicated and caring professionals. They
are an asset, not only to the nursery but the organisation as a whole.

The staff are very friendly and caring. My daughter loves to spend time there. There is a good mix of fun and learning activities. Being located at the school she will attend in the future is very handy.

My son is four years old now and he has been going to Zone4Kids since he was 11 months old. He has been looked after very well in a very warm and friendly environment. He has thrived and developed great friendships and relationships with the kids and the team. They have advised me and helped me with
potty training, getting my little one to eat (which is not an easy task). I have had gorgeous ‘artwork’ and the out of school club during school holidays has great kids entertainment and something different every day so you know they aren’t bored.
The team are super flexible too. My schedule has changed several times and the team will try their very best to accommodate what I need. The facilities are clean and spacious with a homely feel. The outside space is great with the use of the school running track, which my boy loves. The food is excellent. I wouldn’t mind an invitation to lunch one day. But above all, they keep my boy safe and educated and he loves it and so do I. 5 stars.

My son has attended the nursery for three years and will continue to do so for a time yet!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. My son’s emotional and learning needs are met in the most caring and professional environment. I have found every staff member to be highly skilled and my son thoroughly enjoys
his days at Zone.
It’s been the best investment my husband and I could have made in our son’s early years.

We have used this nursery for both children. The staff are extremely good and have taken time to bond and form great relationships with our kids. Like any parent, we just want our children to feel safe, be happy, make friends and to learn/develop. Zone4kids ticks all of the above and I would strongly
recommend this nursery to all our friends or any other parents considering this.

Both my children love it. They are always new and fun activities for them each week. All of the staff are super friendly and always very helpful with any requests or questions. They really do go above and beyond.

My children have been at Zone4Kids for many years now and we couldn't be happier with the care they have received. They are nurtured and supported in a caring environment, where they are respected as an individual and they learn at their own pace.
They have thrived there and the staff constantly
go out of their way to make sure that they are supported effectively. The key worker relationship ensures they have a strong bond with an individual and my boys have both adored these staff members.
We love to follow their progress on the online learning journal and it is lovely to chat with them about what they have done. This supports them in sharing activities with us.
The variety of activities on offer engage them in learning and they love the access they have to outdoor learning. We would recommend Zone4Kids to all.

Jayne Turnbull

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2003

Jayne has been the Manager of Zone4Kids for over 20 years and brings more than 35 years of experience in childcare. Her career includes working as a nanny for local families, roles within a first school, and running a breakfast and after-school club.


Jayne completed her Early Years degree in 2010 while working at Zone4Kids. She has proudly supported and developed the staff team, helping to achieve two Ofsted Outstanding judgements in 2018 and again in 2024. Jayne strongly values the importance of promoting the very best opportunities and experiences, ensuring children at Zone4Kids receive the strongest possible start in their early years education.


In her spare time, Jayne enjoys going to the gym, walking her dog, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
