This nursery is exceptional and received an 'outstanding' Ofsted accreditation in February 2023. Located on the Tyne Metropolitan College site Tynemouth Nursery at Battle Hill offers care to all parents in the area as well as the staff and students of the college for 0 to 5 year olds.

Working with Tyne Metropolitan College the nursery is able to provide flexible care to enable parents to return to further education with the peace of mind that their children are receiving quality and high-level child care. All parents/carers can receive their 15/30 hours free childcare, if applicable, at this nursery.

The nursery is proud to have the prestigious Millies's Mark accreditation awarded in 2018, having this award demonstrates the nursery's commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe.

All staff working directly with children not only hold a paediatric first aid certificate but are also competent in how to apply this in practice.

Couldn't thank all the staff enough for how caring and attentive they are to my child and myself! They are absolute superstars. My daughter is thriving in her speech and development, I couldn't fault the whole team. Thank yous so much for being the best teachers to my daughter, wouldn't want her placed
anywhere else. I trust all the staff so highly! The food and activities are always to a high standard - 5 stars from me!

Couldn't wish for a better nursery for my two sons to attend. Staff are very pleasant and very engaging with all the children.
Information is shared very quickly and precise with regards to what my children has been up to throughout the day.

Both of my children attend this nursery and I cannot give enough praise to all the staff. They are attentive, caring and passionate about their jobs.
Management is very approachable and supportive and that is nice to have. I know most staff on individual basis now and each one has their own strengths
and are fantastic at their jobs. Thank you for all you guys do!

My son attends this nursery and I cannot recommend it enough, the staff are amazing and thanks to them he is thriving. The activities offered are brilliant and it's lovely to receive photos and updates throughout the day with regular observations to track his development. The children are encouraged
to do what makes them happiest, I love arriving for pick up to see him playing and dancing with friends and staff or in a fancy dress outfit that he has chosen to wear. The menu is brilliant and the chef makes sure she gets to know your child's likes, dislikes and dietary needs and is always free for a chat if things change. The manager is always so welcoming and makes sure she updates parents regularly via the app as well as answering messages quickly. The room sizes are great for the age ranges within them and are always clean and safe for the children, there are lots of toys for the children to play freely with between activities.

The best thing I could have done is send my children to this nursery. Both my children loved it and not only settled but thrived! The staff are brilliant, kind caring, in-tune with the children's needs creating a home from home environment, which puts you at ease sending them in, as you know they are
well cared for and will receive ample updates.

We brought our 10 month old daughter at Battle Hill nursery after we saw around 6 other nurseries.


The staff is friendly, kind and most importantly, patient with our daughter, helping her to settle in.


We receive daily notifications of our daughter's progress. Our questions via the app are answered

promptly during the day.


There is a detailed itinerary provided in the app, but the lovely staff always tell us in person at pick up, how the day went.


Our daughter eats well so far so shout out to the chef. Food has variety and there are a lot of fruit snacks offered during the day.


Sun cream is also provided by the nursery which is a nice bonus.


So far we are happy with everything but especially the staff !

Tynemouth nursery have been amazing with my son (and my other 2 children in the past) warm welcome, friendly staff who listen and do great hand overs at drop off and collection. Lots of different activities and always looking for new and fun ways to encourage fun play and learning. Outdoor area has
lots to engage with. Great communications via the app. You can tell the staff really care about the children and build a great relationship with them. I drop my son off and feel at ease when I drop him off and he goes in very happy and excited which is a credit to them. They have been very helpful with offering advice when asked. A lovely nursery in a lovely setting would highly recommend.

My son and I really like this place. There is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, staff is very friendly and professional. My son didn't know English language before he started to attend this nursery, but now he is able to sing nursery rhymes, speak a little bit of English and understand English speech.
I'm so happy that my son has an opportunity to attend this wonderful place and I really appreciate all things that staff do for him.

My little boy has been coming to this nursery since he was 4 month old, he has just turned 2. The staff helped settle my little one in as well as settle me, they are great with adapting to his needs and my many wishes. My little boy has created amazing bonds with the staff, always shouting for them
at home as well as saying bye to them numerous times whilst on the car journey home. The app they use is great to see a little insight into his day whilst he's there seeing how much fun he is having! I love reading the termly reports to see how he is progressing as well as his observations, it really puts my mind at ease, knowing he's in outstanding care! I think all the extracurricular activities whilst he's at nursery are amazing, such as hartbeeps, baby ballet and other extra activities. I can't thank them enough for all their help and how well my little boy has progressed and developed since starting. They've really helped shape him into the funny, adventurous little boy he is today!

My children visit the Tynemouth Nursery at Battle Hill. It's a cozy, but really nice place. The girls who work there are always friendly, and kind and they treat all of the children like their own.

My son has attended the nursery for just over a year and he absolutely loves it. Staff are amazing with him and really take the time to understand his likes and dislikes. Staff are always chatty and friendly when dropping off and picking up. The managers are great and just as involved with all the children.
The food always has a good varied choice throughout the week and my son is much less fussy and more willing to try new things because of it.
From the second we went for our viewing of the nursery to the present I absolutely love this nursery and its staff. Staff have always very helpful and have been so understanding. The nursery is a lovely size and the activities they put on for the children are great. The sign on the door says 'a home away from home' and without a doubt, I believe the staff here have worked so hard to achieve this. My partner and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this nursery.

Staff are super friendly, answer any concerns I have. My two children enjoy going, no complaints.
Food options are great. Children could get out more/provide more outfoor trips/walks in woodland areas/libraries. Excellent for communication.

Shirley is Level 3 qualified and has over 36 years of experience in childcare. She began her career as a volunteer before qualifying as a full-time practitioner, progressing through roles as Deputy Manager and finally Nursery Manager.


She has worked in childcare settings across both North Tyneside and Cumbria and has been part of the TNG family for over seven years.


Shirley is a mum to three grown-up children and a nana to four. She truly lives and breathes childcare and is passionate about delivering outstanding care alongside a dedicated team who consistently go above and beyond for every child and their family.
