With six base rooms for the children along with an imaginary room and large outdoor play area Tynemouth Nursery, recently refurbished and re-equipped in 2018, offers a catalyst of activities to enable children to learn through play and fulfil potential.

Both of our daughters have attended Tynemouth Nursery and have enjoyed every day. They have a range of activities to keep the kids entertained and educated. As a parent, I always feel informed of any changes and improvements being made to the nursery. The staff are very caring and have shown real affection
to our children and really care about their wellbeing. As a result, our children have both formed lovely relationships with their key workers. All the staff are very friendly and I feel very confident that my children are safe at Tynemouth nursery and have so much fun.

After our very first taster session, I was sure this would be a perfect fit for my son. The staff were so wonderful with him, he instantly warmed to them despite being a little shy generally around strangers. He looks forward to going every week and loves to tell me about his day and what he's been
up to. I really enjoy reading the diary updates whilst he's there, it gives me peace of mind knowing he's having such a great time, looking at the photos and checking how much he has had to eat and drink etc. The staff are always very welcoming and always take the time to update me on how everything has been that day. I would 100% recommend this nursery and we are looking forward to many more wonderful months with them.

Tynemouth Nursery has been absolutely fantastic for my son. Even though he’s in 4 days per week, each day is filled with different activities and sometimes external providers also come in to provide wonderful enrichment sessions. He seems relaxed and confident going in each day, as if it’s a home from
home. All the staff seem to know all the children which makes it a really friendly environment and his key worker is always on hand to provide information about his day.

Our son attends Tynemouth Nursery at North Shields. All of the staff are really friendly, extremely helpful and obviously interested in his care and development. We are so pleased with his progress, and much of this is down to the efforts of the staff at Tynemouth Nursery. Even though our son is still
quite young, he is always excited to go to nursery, and he obviously enjoys his time there so much. We always look forward to hearing what he has been up to when we pick him up, the staff always provide detailed handovers about his day and seeing him full of smiles is all the reassurance we need! We would not hesitate to recommend Tynemouth Nursery to anyone considering using them for their child.

My son has thrived since starting Tynemouth Nursery six months ago. He loves the wide range of activities and has formed great relationships with the staff. I’m kept well informed on how he’s getting on, his progress, and love seeing pictures and videos of him at nursery.

Tynemouth Nursery has always been excellent in my opinion, even from my daughter going there March 2016 - August 2018, and now my son absolutely loves it. Friendly, encouraging staff, warm, inviting, homely setting. Would highly recommend to anyone to send their children here.

Our daughter has attended Tynemouth Nursery since she was 17-months-old. Only two and a half days a week, and she is absolutely thriving. The staff are so friendly, and my daughter skips in there for each session. I was initially hesitant to leave her, but now am totally at ease as she enjoys it so
much. The photo learning diary with progression updates is a real plus, and at the end of each session, a comprehensive breakdown of your child’s session is given, which makes you realise the staffs super attention to detail. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this nursery.

Both our children have attended this nursery, and my youngest is still currently there. We are very happy with the care and provision she is given. Our boy loves Tynemouth Nursery! As do we as parents! The staff are excellent and always feedback on the day’s activities on pick up.
They regularly have weekly focused, for eg story week, (stickman) family tree, burns night, games, thanksgiving etc.
They cover literacy and numeracy, shape and
movement, colour wheel, letter formation, taking turns, talking about feelings, as well as outdoor learning.

My daughter has been attending Tynemouth Nursery for roughly a year and a half. The building itself is welcoming and warm. It reminds me of a home rather than a nursery. The rooms are big and bright and welcoming. The staff who work there are kind, caring and funny. My daughter loves going to nursery.
She has so much fun. She feels secure and safe and that is the most important thing for a mother, that they feel their baby is in safe hands and the baby themselves feels safe. There is a great, healthy variety of food. The outdoor space is big and has a little sunshade and a mini climbing frame and slide. There are also mud kitchen spaces. The extra activities are brilliant - from football to French. There is so much art and crafts and music. We feel lucky to have found this nursery.

My first little boy who is now 5 and had the best start to his education at Tynemouth Nursery. He is now at school, extremely sociable and friendly which I put down to the relationships he built with both staff and children at Tynemouth Nursery.
My other little boy is 2 and attends Tynemouth Nursery
full time. He is also really settled at nursery and one of the best choices I have made is to send him to Tynemouth Nursery.

My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery at TN (Tynemouth Nursery). She is looked after by well qualified, kind and happy staff. The staff know her very well and I believe she is challenged, cared for and nurtured as she should be in a nursery setting. My daughter has flourished here and the staff
are always on hand to support her when needed. The activities provided during the day are well thought through, carefully structured and always have fun at the centre. I would wholeheartedly, and have actively, recommended Tynemouth Nursery to friends.

My first child attended since she was one and stayed all the way until Pre-school. She has started school with no issues, and that is down to the staff at Tynemouth getting her so prepared for the transition. The staff were immediately welcoming and supportive of both her and my needs. They take a genuine
interest in the children and their wider life and family. My daughter flourished and soon became a confident, independent and social child. She had many differing experiences, and I never doubted that she was being well looked after and more importantly having fun and learning. The building is so homely with excellent facilities, garden great for little explorers and outside agencies brought in for further development ( tennis/French/football/jitterbugs). Food is all fresh, healthy and varied ( better than I get). My 2nd child starts very soon and already feels part of the Tynemouth family. I did not hesitate to put her in Tynemouth as nowhere compares. Amazing staff and service.

This is a great nursery. They are always looking for ways to improve and new things to do with the children. All the staff are really caring, and I feel very happy about leaving my children with them. I know they are having a lovely day and are very well looked after. They do loads of lovely activities
including football, yoga, sing and sign plus trips out. They let them play outside as much as possible in the fantastic outdoor space which my children love. The staff are keen to help if you have any queries or concerns. All in all, we are very happy with Tynemouth Nursery.

Joanne Gallagher

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2018

My childcare journey began in 2018 as supply staff, before becoming a full-time practitioner and then a room leader in 2019. In 2022, I joined Tynemouth Nursery Group as Preschool Room Leader, progressing to Deputy Manager in 2023 and now Nursery Manager.


The most rewarding part of my role is seeing children grow in confidence and independence every day. I’m passionate about creating a nurturing environment and supporting families throughout their journey with us.


I recently completed Mental Health First Aid training, recognising its importance for children, staff, and parents alike. Outside of nursery life, I love spending time with my little boy and enjoying weekends with family or at the gym.
