With six base rooms for the children along with an imaginary room and large outdoor play area Tynemouth Nursery, recently refurbished and re-equipped in 2018, offers a catalyst of activities to enable children to learn through play and fulfil potential.

The nursery is proud to have the prestigious Millies's Mark accreditation awarded in 2018, having this award demonstrates the nursery's commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe.

All staff working directly with children not only hold a paediatric first aid certificate but are also competent in how to apply this in practice.

The staff provide a safe, nurturing environment at Tynemouth nursery. They go above and beyond organising a wide range of activities for the children. My daughter has thrived and some of this is down to the excellent support, care, and education given at nursery. For over 3 years, Tynemouth Nursery
has been an extension of our family.
The catering is great, the menu is changed at varying times throughout the year and it is excellent.
Overall keep doing what you do, you are great.

Tynemouth Nursery has been absolutely wonderful for our daughter.
Every day she would wake up asking for her teachers and little friends. She goes in happy and leaves with a big smile on her face, after a day full of adventures.
Couldn't have wished for more. The food is homecooked and super delicious.

My child has settled in very well to the nursery and we feel very reassured that he is cared for and is happy within the setting. His key worker and all staff always greet us with a smile and are very responsive to both the wellbeing of my child and any questions we may have. A great nursery all round.

My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her first few months at Tynemouth Nursery. The staff are friendly, welcoming and patient and it is clear our daughter has a strong bond with them as she looks forward to going in each morning. Communication, both in-person and via the app, have been excellent and we
can see the development in our daughter during her time with the nursery. The catering on offer for the children is exceptional and helps them maintain and healthy balanced diet.

We have had such a lovely experince whilst our son has been at the nursery. All the staff are friendly and approachable and very accommodating with last-minute changes and dietary requirements. My son has attended Tynemouth Nursery (Preston Village) for almost a year now and neither I nor his father could be any happier with the nursery as a whole.
They’re extremely attentive to our son in every single way. He’s well cared for, his development has come on in strides and he really has excelled
into an amazing little boy with the help of everyone at the nursery.
Any key worker assigned to our son has been amazing and has always worked alongside the other nursery staff to make sure he gets the best from every day.
The activities are fantastic, every day is extremely well-planned and thought-through. Nothing is ever too much to ask for and every single member of staff from the office to the nursery staff themselves are entirely 100% approachable and as helpful as they possibly can be with all queries. We really could not recommend this nursery enough and it’ll be a truly sad day when our son leaves to attend school next year!

Such a great nursery! My son and daughter have both attended Tynemouth Nursery at Preston Avenue, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. The staff are amazing. They are always so caring and nurturing with the children and the management team are always so accommodating and helpful.

Attending this nursery has helped our son's development in so many ways. His gross motor skills, social interactions and language are all thriving and I feel coming to Tynemouth Nursery, even just once a week has contributed massively to this. Fantastic response to our grandson's very specific needs. You always go that bit further to support him and I know he loves coming to Tynemouth Nursery. He has been to two Christmas Fayres now and both have really excited and involved him.
Day tp day dropping off and picking up, like clockwork and
we all feel fully informed about activities and interactions.

My son has loved going to Tynemouth nursery. After having an isolated experience during covid, our son has been hesitant socially but has blossomed in confidence, since starting. He is not only having fun at nursery, but learning too. I could not speak highly enough of the staff and the nearly hourly
updates of my son's day on the app and website put a lot of ease on worries. The best nursery in the North East.

My little girl has been coming to this nursery for almost a year and she loves it. We never have any problems and she often comes home dirty, tired and happy - the sign of a good day! She loves the garden and I love that she gets to spend a lot of time outside. The staff are kind and friendly and the
nursery building provides a great space for learning. The food menu looks great and my daughter seems to eat it all! The app is great and a useful platform for us to communicate with the nursery as well as find out information about what she has been doing in the day, given that she can't yet communicate this herself fully. The nursery celebrates lots of different events and there always seems to be something new and exciting for her to get involved in. The nursery is safe and I feel confident leaving her that she will be happy and fulfilled throughout the day.

I can't recommend this nursery highly enough, my son has attended Tynemouth Nursery since he was 5-months-old (now 21 months) and he absolutely loves it. The nursery provides a great range of activities that meet his developmental needs and ever-growing curiosity. They celebrate a wide range of topics
which promote learning and inclusivity and also use top childrens activities providers. The nursery environment is very welcoming and safe with excellent facilities, the outside play area is amazing with mud kitchens, sandpits, dens, a climbing frame with slide and excellent outdoor toys. They offer a healthy well-balanced food menu, my son will literally eat anything! Aside from all the above the best thing about the nursery is the staff, they are just great and genuinely care about the children. From the first time I visited the nursery, I knew this was the place for my son and have always felt absolutely confident that he is receiving the best care.

Fantastic supportive nursery. Two members of staff, in particular, hugely supported my eldest son with his eating and confidence, now my youngest is receiving the same support from his key nursery staff. The manager is always quick to respond to queries and change sessions.

Joanne Gallagher

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2018

My childcare journey began in 2018 as supply staff, before becoming a full-time practitioner and then a room leader in 2019. In 2022, I joined Tynemouth Nursery Group as Preschool Room Leader, progressing to Deputy Manager in 2023 and now Nursery Manager.


The most rewarding part of my role is seeing children grow in confidence and independence every day. I’m passionate about creating a nurturing environment and supporting families throughout their journey with us.


I recently completed Mental Health First Aid training, recognising its importance for children, staff, and parents alike. Outside of nursery life, I love spending time with my little boy and enjoying weekends with family or at the gym.
