Stepping Stones at Rothwell opened in 2009 and has excellent transport links with Leeds city centre. Its was awarded Good by Ofsted in January 2023.

The dedicated team care for children from ages six weeks to five years within a home-from-home environment. Each child has a key person who provides comfort and reassurance, forming close relationships with parents.


The large outdoor space is sectioned into appropriate age areas and features everything from mud kitchens and sand pits to vegetable patches and construction sites. It’s used in all weathers, so waterproof clothing is available and there is a canopy for shade on sunny days.

Lovely, small, homely nursery. The small team do make it feel like a family and they get know the families well. They go on weekly outings locally into the community, whatever the weather, and they get children involved in tactile activities, such as pizza-making and baking. The indoor rooms have been
updated recently and we're excited to see the new garden design, when it's updated, so the space will be even better. Both my children have been very happy here and they well prepared my eldest for primary school.

My youngest son is just about to finish at Stepping Stones to start school in September and has been there since he was 10 months old. He is really going to miss everyone there. All the staff are very welcoming and understanding and keep you updated with what your child has been up to on a day to day
basis. Since COVID they have arranged days out for the children which my son has particularly enjoyed going on the bus on numerous occasions!

The team at Stepping Stones Rothwell are fantastic. They found a place for us at short notice when we were left without childcare very suddenly last year. Since attending Stepping Stones my daughter has grown in confidence and has flourished. I can't thank the team enough for their efforts. They are
such a friendly team who are fantastic with the children.

Excellent nursery. Every single member of the team are caring, friendly and approachable. From the moment we joined the nursery, I felt they truly cared for my child. No matter what room they work in, the staff know your child. My child's development in terms of talking came on so much once they started.
They've built some great relationships with the team and it's lovely to see.
There are good resources and plenty for children to explore. There are always planned activities to support the children's development, which are impressive and creative! We personally love how much they use the outside space and use community resources for trips out to support the children's learning. We moved areas last year but choose to continue with Stepping Stones rather than using a closer childcare option due to how much we and our child love it.

The nursery is great. They're willing to offer a flexible space around our work needs. The staff are friendly and care about getting to know our son. They are supportive and happy to give advice. Our son is developing great from the wide range of activities that they do which are all fun and involve
learning. They love spending time outside and playing with friends.

Hello!


I'm Emily, the nursery manager here at Rothwell. I began working at Stepping Stones in March 2015 as a Nursery Practitioner, after a brief time away from the company to manage at another setting, I returned to Stepping Stones Rothwell in May 2021.


I hold a BTEC Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development as well as a Certificate of Higher Education in Childhood Studies meaning I am level 4 qualified. I have certificates in Paediatric First Aid and I am also the named Designated Safeguarding Lead.


I am so passionate about the Nursery and want to ensure all the things we do and provide for the children make every single day amazing as I find it fascinating that we could be caring for a future Astronaut, Teacher, Doctor or Singer. I believe that every child should be given the best start in life and we are one of the stepping stones to help them on their way!

I began working at Stepping Stones in June 2020 and have over 20 years of experience in the Early Years sector. I hold a Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development and attend regular training in Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding. I am also the SEND Co-ordinator of the setting and hold a Level 3 Award for Early Years SEN.


I love being messy and creative and thinking outside of the box for wonderful activities for our children to participate in. I understand that every child is different and should all be treated as individuals to get the most out of their development and their learning journey whilst with us at nursery.
