My daughter loves the staff at Rothwell Stepping Stones. One of my favourite things about this nursery is the fact they focus on the positive feedback on handover, any incidents or challenging behaviour are mentioned but are not made to be the focus. And challenging behaviour or areas to focus on are shared with a view to support parents in any way they can, and often remind parents that this is completely normal, and not a cause for concern.
Lovely, small, homely nursery. The small team do make it feel like a family and they get know the families well. They go on weekly outings locally into the community, whatever the weather, and they get children involved in tactile activities, such as pizza-making and baking. The indoor rooms have been updated recently and we're excited to see the new garden design, when it's updated, so the space will be even better. Both my children have been very happy here and they well prepared my eldest for primary school.
My youngest son is just about to finish at Stepping Stones to start school in September and has been there since he was 10 months old. He is really going to miss everyone there. All the staff are very welcoming and understanding and keep you updated with what your child has been up to on a day to day basis. Since COVID they have arranged days out for the children which my son has particularly enjoyed going on the bus on numerous occasions!
The team at Stepping Stones Rothwell are fantastic. They found a place for us at short notice when we were left without childcare very suddenly last year. Since attending Stepping Stones my daughter has grown in confidence and has flourished. I can't thank the team enough for their efforts. They are such a friendly team who are fantastic with the children.
There are good resources and plenty for children to explore. There are always planned activities to support the children's development, which are impressive and creative! We personally love how much they use the outside space and use community resources for trips out to support the children's learning. We moved areas last year but choose to continue with Stepping Stones rather than using a closer childcare option due to how much we and our child love it.
The nursery is great. They're willing to offer a flexible space around our work needs. The staff are friendly and care about getting to know our son. They are supportive and happy to give advice. Our son is developing great from the wide range of activities that they do which are all fun and involve learning. They love spending time outside and playing with friends.
An amazing setting with wonderful staff who make you feel so welcome. It is like a home from home. I can't recommend them highly enough!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about our nursery!

Meet the Team (2)
Hello!
I'm Emily, the nursery manager here at Rothwell. I began working at Stepping Stones in March 2015 as a Nursery Practitioner, after a brief time away from the company to manage at another setting, I returned to Stepping Stones Rothwell in May 2021.
I hold a BTEC Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development as well as a Certificate of Higher Education in Childhood Studies meaning I am level 4 qualified. I have certificates in Paediatric First Aid and I am also the named Designated Safeguarding Lead.
I am so passionate about the Nursery and want to ensure all the things we do and provide for the children make every single day amazing as I find it fascinating that we could be caring for a future Astronaut, Teacher, Doctor or Singer. I believe that every child should be given the best start in life and we are one of the stepping stones to help them on their way!
Hi,
I’m Megan, the Acting Nursery Manager at Stepping Stones Rothwell.
I’ve been part of the Stepping Stones family for over nine years, starting my journey as an apprentice and working my way through roles including Nursery Practitioner, Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, and now Acting Nursery Manager.
I hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification, and I am also the Designated Safeguarding Lead with a Paediatric First Aid qualification. Supporting children as they reach new milestones is one of the best parts of my job — being able to celebrate those moments with them at nursery is truly special.
