My son has been going to stepping stones since he was around 7 months old. He has grown and developed a whole lot since being in nursery. He has made lots of friends and although he still struggles at times going to nursery and leaving mum and dad, he enjoys his days at nursery and has lots of fun, he is settled quickly the majority of the time by staff and gets on with his day. The garden has recently had an upgrade and it looks great and the children seem to love it when looking through the weekly pictures! My son enjoys the little walks to see local shops, and parks and see the horse fields too.
They do a great job with all the activities and learning they do in the nursery and the trips out they do to the park and farm, which my granddaughter loves, seeing and feeding the animals. She has learnt so much from being at the nursery and I would definitely recommend them.
Stepping Stones (Rothwell) provide outstanding care. My little boy has been there since he was four months old and has made incredible progress in their care, particularly in his emotional development. The staff develop the whole child and show a great deal of care. Their detailed daily handovers allow me to rest assured that he is well cared for and happy at nursery. They know him so well. I couldn’t recommend them enough!
My daughter absolutely thrived at Stepping Stones. Their support to not only her, but also us as parents, was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had time to chat and catch up. The setting has a very intimate feel to it and very much feels like a home away from home. Our daughter has since moved on to start primary school, but we miss Stepping Stones and the wonderful staff, and would recommend to any parent this setting if they were looking in the area!
Both my children have attended Stepping Stones and they have both thrived there. The preschool room is amazing and they are always doing really creative things in order to enable the children to learn in a fun environment.
She has built good relationships with the staff. The most important thing for me, as a parent, is that I know she is loved and cared for and she absolutely is. I can sense it when I drop her off on a morning, which made the transition for myself going back to work easier.
The nursery is very educational, more so than others, which I looked around. Although it may not seem like an issue, as she’s still quite young, she will become accustomed to this and it will help her along her way to her school years.
I’ve had three of my children attend Stepping Stones Nursery. I find the staff at the nursery are very caring, nurturing and have patience. I always get a detailed handover at the end of the day and I am told about any trips they have been on, such as trips to the farm, museums and bus rides. The staff are friendly, polite and I always feel at ease leaving my children there while I work.
I’m very happy with this nursery. The staff offer a friendly, caring approach to looking after my daughter. The daily activities help to develop my daughter's learning, as well as lots of free play time. My daughter is always happy to be dropped off. You have all been amazing! Your care, nurturing and education at Stepping Stones has been wonderful and she has gained so much from being at your nursery. We are so thankful we chose you to start her school adventure! You have supported her to be herself, and the best of herself.
Friendly and understanding, approachable staff. Amazing care for children. Engaging activities for the children throughout the day and a variety of meals offered every day. Lots of trips out for the children too.
She absolutely adores her teachers and loves the days out. She likes to tell me what she’s been getting up to. Would highly recommended, never had a problem.
Every member of staff is friendly, approachable and shows a real interest in all of the children.
Since my son joined the nursery he has come on leaps and bounds and myself and my husband can't thank the staff enough.
I would highly recommend it!
see as parents that while we work, our child is being so well cared for, exploring the community around him and coming across new experiences all the time.
We are sure like everywhere, there are always improvements to be made such as some outdated facilities and only a small outdoor space.
In the interest of honesty, we have found that the Stepping Stones company itself have not been very accommodating when it has come to the changes in circumstances around money but this is not a direct reflection on the nursery itself. Overall, the nursery is a safe space for our child to grow, learn and develop. The staff are kind and caring, we feel that our child is getting the right support from staff when in the nursery and they continue to thrive outside of the nursery due to that support and learning experiences.
We would happily recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a place for their child.
My daughter attends Stepping Stones. When she first started she wasn’t overly happy about leaving both me and her dad but as time went on she got excited for nursery days. The staff are fantastic, my daughter's confidence has improved. The nursery staff stick to toilet training as we do at home and keeps me updated with her progress, I’m happy with the bonds and relationships she has formed with the staff as well as the other children. She is learning to share with others and take part in activities. The nursery has a nice outdoor area, there is lots to keep her entertained and happy.
We especially love that the children get to go out on trips around the community on a regular basis, this is normally the highlight of her week.
I also like that the food is all made freshly onsite each day.
The staff always makes sure my child is well and is enjoying her day. Always well fed and watered all day. She never had a bad day when at nursery - I can’t fault them at all. All staff are friendly and go above and beyond. My daughter loves the staff at Rothwell Stepping Stones. One of my favourite things about this nursery is the fact they focus on the positive feedback on handover, any incidents or challenging behaviour are mentioned but are not made to be the focus. And challenging behaviour or areas to focus on are shared with a view to support parents in any way they can and often remind parents that this is completely normal and not a cause for concern.
My son has been at nursery since he was 11 months old, I was very nervous at first but the girls made me very welcome and he soon settled creating amazing relationships! Now a year later he is thriving with confidence and talks about nursery, his friends and the nursery ladies at home. He has developed amazing skills within nursery and I am so happy with the service at stepping stones. Thank you everyone, especially the manager who is very helpful and great to speak to when needed.
We have been connected to Stepping Stones since 2017, with two children going through its doors. We are so pleased with our choice of nursery. My youngest attends now and always comes home happy, and exhausted from a busy, active day.
The nursery manager has made some significant improvements in the last two years, which has made the whole nursery a much happier place for its staff. This is then reflected in the wonderful care they give to their job and the children they look after.
The staff produce creative and imaginative activities, which are fun, ability appropriate, and educational for the children.
The children have regular trips out and about in the local area, and enjoy lots of outdoor play.
My son has been at Stepping Stones Day Nursery since around 8 months old and he has come on so well. The staff are truly amazing and help develop your child's skills ready for them to start school. They regularly go on trips out and my son is so happy to go into nursery and tells us all about his teachers and friends when he is at home. He has built up some amazing relationships with both his friends and the staff members and I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone.
Stepping Stones Nursery Rothwell has been an excellent provider to my son. They provide care from all staff working with children across all rooms and have regular updates on how the child is doing and how to support and work together to support the child. They provide a wide range of activities in and out of the setting to engage all children and have the child's interests at heart. They listen to what children would like to do and my son has had stay and play sessions on themes, superhero days etc. They provide meals and encourage healthy eating and keeping healthy and safe with themed activities to engage children. Communication is of great standard via online and personal face-to-face. Updates are given on nursery activities and we have enjoyed attending events. I would highly recommend Stepping Stones Nursery Rothwell and thank them for all they have done.

Hello!
I'm Emily, the nursery manager here at Rothwell. I began working at Stepping Stones in March 2015 as a Nursery Practitioner, after a brief time away from the company to manage at another setting, I returned to Stepping Stones Rothwell in May 2021.
I hold a BTEC Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development as well as a Certificate of Higher Education in Childhood Studies meaning I am level 4 qualified. I have certificates in Paediatric First Aid and I am also the named Designated Safeguarding Lead.
I am so passionate about the Nursery and want to ensure all the things we do and provide for the children make every single day amazing as I find it fascinating that we could be caring for a future Astronaut, Teacher, Doctor or Singer. I believe that every child should be given the best start in life and we are one of the stepping stones to help them on their way!
Hi,
I’m Megan, the Acting Nursery Manager at Stepping Stones Rothwell.
I’ve been part of the Stepping Stones family for over nine years, starting my journey as an apprentice and working my way through roles including Nursery Practitioner, Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, and now Acting Nursery Manager.
I hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification, and I am also the Designated Safeguarding Lead with a Paediatric First Aid qualification. Supporting children as they reach new milestones is one of the best parts of my job — being able to celebrate those moments with them at nursery is truly special.
