Children 1st Newark Centre Nursery School is housed in a spacious and well resourced Georgian building in Newark-on-Trent.

The nursery provides the perfect opportunity for children to learn in small groups in a variety of indoor and outdoor learning environments, including a large garden.

Highly trained early years teachers care for children from birth to five years all year round, including student families and all other local families.

Staff ensure the children leave the nursery as confident individuals with a real enthusiasm for their next stage of development.

I've found this nursery has done my son a world of good. He's much more confident in himself. I like the way the nursery runs and deals with any situation that may occur. Would recommend to anyone.

My child loved going to Newark Town nursery! He has learnt so much while being there, and the environment and atmosphere was good. All staff were friendly and so welcoming and I knew my child was in good hands. I always got a good feedback at the end of the day and he always brought some kind of art
work home which I loved. The meals were great what was cooked at the setting and a good verity of snacks to take home. I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone, and often do brilliant setting and an amazing team.

Our daughter has been attending nursery now for about one year. She has loved coming and really settled in well thanks to all the staff. She has grown in confidence and become a very sociable and independent little girl who always loves going to nursery. As there is always so much for her to do and

My son attended this nursery for 4 1/2 months and during this time I feel that he was provided with quality care by his key worker and other members of staff. I had a good relationship with the staff and was kept well informed of his progress each day. Children 1st have taught him so many things that
I thought was impossible to learn or do at his age and for these reasons, I am truly grateful. We miss all of you and wish we were still a part of this nursery.

The nursery was very welcoming. Everyone was cheerful and polite. All areas were clean and tidy and lovely activities throughout my daughter's session. Lovely rooms and interesting displays. All staff very well presented. Menu and snacking area clear for all to see. My daughter always enjoyed her time.
Fresh food daily and a very good follower of cultural events within mealtimes and snacks eg Chinese New Year and Thanksgiving etc etc.

When picking up from Children 1st @ Newark Town, all the staff were welcoming and the environment and atmosphere was amazing. My godchild did not want to come home. The activities were really good and always bringing artwork home to show. I would highly recommend to others. Brilliant nursery.

My grandson loves his days at nursery. He is Always learning new and exciting skills.
The meals are very nutritional and of a good varied menu.
All the staff are very helpful, and very dedicated. Everyone is supported by an excellent management team.

Staff are all so so friendly and go out of their way to help.

I and my partner were very sceptical with putting our daughter into nursery after viewing a couple and we weren't impressed. We came to Children 1st @ Newark Town and we were so impressed with how professional and welcoming the staff are here. From the moment we came here, (I never leave reviews for
anybody) I must give credit where credit is due. I would recommend this nursery to anyone that asks, our daughter has learnt so much since being here and gained a lot of confidence. A big thank you to all the staff that work here.

Recommended by a friend. I moved my daughter from the village nursery - She loves it! If it wasn’t for the need for local links to prepare for school I’d move her completely.
The food is good and I’m impressed by her progress.

Such an amazing nursery! My daughter totally loves it there! Very friendly, happy, great food choices, and a good mix of both education and fun! I always recommend Children 1st nurseries if asked and I'll be very sad when we need to stop going. Such amazing staff and it's great having peace of mind

Children 1st at Newark Town has always provided great care and a wonderful environment. My child really enjoys his time at nursery and has made great friends with other children and staff. Learning and development for older children are great and we love that the children are given lots of different

My child always loves going there - you know that when he doesn't turn around when I drop him off or when it takes ages for him to come when we pick him up. He also mentions the carers' and his friends' names on the days when he is not at nursery.
There are also lots of outdoors activities for the
kids to do.
We can't recommend this nursery enough!

I can't fault this nursery. My child is so happy to go, has so much fun and learns so many new things each time he goes.
The staff are so friendly and understanding.
Having anxiety myself is an issue but I'm never anxious to bring him because I know how well he's being looked after and I know he's
safe.
I recommend this place to all friends because of how well my niece and son both came along after weeks of being there and they never stopped!
It's such a caring, friendly place and seems the staff are like a little family which is always a good thing!

From the moment we first looked around Children 1st @ Newark Town, we knew that it was the right nursery for our child. Calm and welcoming with a lovely big garden, it felt like a home from home with the discipline and organisation of a little school. It is the right mix for us.


We also loved the

individual rooms for each age group. Our child loves coming to nursery to play with the trucks and Playdough. He has made some little friends and is very attached to the key workers who look after him. He loves the food on offer and sometimes has seconds - always a good sign! He looks forward to coming to nursery and is always smiling when we come to collect him.


We also sent our older child to the holiday club at Children 1st @ Newark Town and she really enjoyed herself and has asked to go back during her next school holidays.

I would definitely recommend Newark Town children first to Parents. I feel very reassured when my daughter is there. The staff are all very friendly and professional and remember my daughter's name every time. I know that while she is there she is having fun and being well cared for.

Amazing nursery. The care my son receives is really above and beyond. Lots of varied activities and he has made loads of little friends and loves the company of the children and nursery staff. Couldn't be happier with the nursery.

Katie Firth

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2023

Hello, my name is Katie Firth and I joined Children 1st in May 2023. I have been the Manager of Newark Town for the past two years and have also supported as Acting Manager at Newark Nursery while the Manager was on maternity leave. In 2024, I was proud to be named Nursery Manager of the Year and have completed my Level 3 SEN training.


I absolutely love my team; they are fun, passionate, and feel like a little family. I also adore working with the children — it’s such a wonderful feeling watching them grow, develop, and being part of some of the biggest milestones in their early years.


I am especially passionate about creating inclusive environments. I’ve been extremely lucky to support multiple children with additional needs and find it truly inspiring to see how every child learns, grows, and thrives in their own unique way.
