I absolutely love this nursery, my son started in September and he has come on leaps and bounds.
The teachers are all fantastic, friendly and welcoming. My son's teacher keeps me updated daily with his activities. My son has learnt songs and rhymes and loves to do them and show me.
My son has a dinner
every day and it's varied and has had him trying new things which is brilliant as at home he isn't a great eater. So knowing that he has a well-balanced meal at school is a great achievement.
The nursery is well-lit, bright and feels safe. There are plenty of activities to be done and the children all interact with each other.
I highly recommend the nursery and I really can't fault it.

I couldn't be more grateful to the team here at Children 1st @ Newark Town Day Nursery. Since my son started he has come on in leaps and bounds, the staff are brilliant and my son loves to attend. Couldn't recommend enough. They are fantastic with children that also need that extra support, before attending
my son didn't communicate, now he is improving by the day.
The opening hours are fabulous for parents that work full-time too.

Children 1st @ Newark Town Day Nursery has been amazing for my daughter's development. Her speech and learning have changed completely in such a short space of time. She loves her time there and always comes home telling me all about her day. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

Our little one has attended nursery here since 11 months. We have always felt so happy with the childcare and support provided at Children 1st @ Newark Town Day Nursery. My child has been attending Children 1st @ Newark Town Day Nursery since February after the previous nursery closed. I was so nervous on finding a new nursery, however, the staff from the old nursery highly recommended this one. Upon visiting, it was plain to see how much all the staff cared for the
children. I love that there is an app so you can see everything your child is doing. You are kept well in the loop with what is going on with your child and it's plain to see what a good job they do when your child comes back pretending to be some of the members of staff. They have all been absolutely amazing with my son and I couldn't recommend them more!

My stepson has attended this nursery since he has been 2 years old and now just graduated to start primary school. He loved going to nursery twice a week and with the help of all the staff there, he progressed so well with all skills. Since then, I have also sent my son (9 months when he started) to
this nursery so I could get back to work. I was so worried about sending him at such a young age, as I imagine any parent is, but he absolutely loves it. Smiles going in smiles coming out. I will be upping his hours next month due to starting my uni course and I have no worries that he will be ok. Love this nursery and all the staff there thank you so much for being the best to our children!

My little boy has been attending the setting for six months now from being 3 months old. He absolutely loves going to nursery and exploring the environment. He loves playing outside in the fresh air and has lovely relationships with all the staff. I wouldn't trust any place more.

When looking for a nursery for my child, it was really important to find a nursery that felt like a home for my little boy. Nursery is never a parent's first choice, but for any working parent, it is a necessity, but it needs to be right.
I visited several nursery settings within the area, some of
which were advertised as award-winning. Every single nursery I toured left me feeling really disappointed until I walked into Children 1st @ Newark Town. The outside space is amazing and completely secure. There is a great fob entry system, and the rooms are fun and engaging. My little boy has thrived here, and I have never had an issue. Their handy app allows for constant communication and highlights just how personal this nursery is. They have a range of different meals and are flexible and caring. I cannot rate this nursery highly enough. Thank you to the whole team for taking my mum guilt away and providing a home from home experience.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since she was 8-months-old and is now nearly three. It's hard to leave your child with 'strangers', but the induction process was excellent and transitions/change is managed well. Staff are warm, approachable and are genuinely fond of her. They have an individual,
structured approach to her needs and development, and communication is excellent. She has come on leaps and bounds, particularly in social development with the other children. There are lots of organised activities to stimulate the children and plenty of time in the outdoor areas for fresh air. Additional safety procedures due to the pandemic, helped me to feel confident about her returning when they reopened. They are a little more expensive than some of the other nurseries in town, but having visited a lot of care settings when we were looking, I absolutely think the quality of care justifies the price. They also invest in the continual improvement of the rooms and equipment.

Incredible - my daughter has recently joined, and she has been the happiest little girl every time I drop her off or pick her up. I haven’t been dealt with any crying tantrums or refusing to go inside. So you guys must be doing wonders in there as she’s a picky little thing. So happy with who I chose.

My daughter is attending this nursery, not so long time, just three months, because of moving to another town. But, I can say at this time, that my daughter enjoyed this new place quickly, and is a lovely new place to spend time discovering things with great staff.

Our son joined in September at age 3 for funded hours, and despite us joining during a pandemic, the nursery have been excellent. Drop off at the gate is easy and the staff are always so friendly. They give brilliant feedback at the end of a session. Even though we only do three afternoons a week, my
son settled in so well and they seemed to get to know him so quickly. The staff are always very open and honest about everything and communication has always been brilliant. I'm very impressed at all the activities they do and love their outdoor space. I think they have done an incredible job with bubbles for the kids. They are also flexible and very organised. I would highly recommend this nursery.

The staff have gone out of their way to reassure us and her during her settling in period. They are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble, we are extremely happy with the care she has been given during her time at nursery and she is very happy there.

Our daughter has attended Children 1st since June 2020 and thoroughly enjoys her time. Given the recent difficulties due to the pandemic, the staff have been excellent with communicating any changes and have been fantastic. We feel completely at ease dropping our daughter off knowing how much fun she

My little girl started the nursery September this year, we’ve had nothing but great things to say. My daughter wasn’t a fan of nursery before, since starting here she’s come on leaps. She asks most mornings is today nursery mummy? They have a great online system that keeps me up to date with her daily
activities. Along with the diary they fill in on every visit. Keeping me informed on her day, her meals and even toilet trips. The staff are so friendly and approachable, nothing but good things for us!

My son has been coming to this nursery since he was 11 months old, and I’m very glad it’s the choice we made. The staff talked through any worries and concerns I had before he started, and were very accommodating of a break we had to take until September 2020, offering a settling in session before he
started back.
He is now 27 months and loves going to nursery, always asking me if it’s a nursery day. He especially loves playing outside in the mud kitchen or splashing in puddles with his friends. The staff are all lovely, and most importantly my son is happy in their care.

My little boy has been absolutely loving coming to nursery! He is always happy to go in and is always smiling when I pick him up! He is currently 2 years old and I have noticed how he has progressed even more with his speech since going. I am very happy with the care he is receiving.

Katie Firth

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2023

Hello, my name is Katie Firth and I joined Children 1st in May 2023. I have been the Manager of Newark Town for the past two years and have also supported as Acting Manager at Newark Nursery while the Manager was on maternity leave. In 2024, I was proud to be named Nursery Manager of the Year and have completed my Level 3 SEN training.


I absolutely love my team; they are fun, passionate, and feel like a little family. I also adore working with the children — it’s such a wonderful feeling watching them grow, develop, and being part of some of the biggest milestones in their early years.


I am especially passionate about creating inclusive environments. I’ve been extremely lucky to support multiple children with additional needs and find it truly inspiring to see how every child learns, grows, and thrives in their own unique way.
