Children 1st Derby Road Nursery School

Children 1st, Derby Road is a fantastic nursery, I have had two children attend and they have both loved their time there. They've made lots of friends and they talk about how great their teachers are.

Fantastic nursery, staff are amazing friendly, and caring. The nursery is always lovely and the clean food smells amazing would 100% recommend the nursery my son went to a few years back and after the renovation, I think it's even better my daughter now comes.

We are very pleased with the nursery. A great environment, and always find the staff very positive and supportive. I am confident my daughter is very well looked after and feel she has developed a lot there.

The nursery is beautifully decorated and the gardens/play areas are great.

The team is always super helpful and very friendly, been a pleasure to know them over the past few years with both our children attending Derby Road. Kate, Millie, and Aimee are all excellent at what they do, very knowledgeable, and will go above and beyond to assist you with anything you bring to them. Rosie has been amazing as well. The kids ' areas are great, lots to do. I would and have recommended this nursery to many people.

My son has been going to Children’s 1st since he was 11 months old and is now in one of the older rooms. My son loves going and is always so happy on pick up which goes to show how amazing and caring the staff members are. The activities are all thought out to ensure the children are learning and developing through play. My son has learnt a lot and we’re pleased we found such a great nursery.

My little boy has been with Children 1st for over a year and I cannot recommend them enough. Great facilities, lovely fresh home-cooked food, excellent communication, and the most important factor for me is the warm and welcoming staff, they genuinely care about your children and my son loves them all which says a lot! I visited a few nurseries prior to choosing this setting and they were by far the best. I go to work in confidence knowing that my little boy is very happy there and that he is being well looked after.

I cannot praise and thank Children 1st @ Derby Road enough. They look after our little boy 5 days a week and we don’t know what we would do without them. From day 1, every single member of staff has been welcoming, professional and always child-centred. They take care to get to know the children and their families and the attention to detail in everything they do is so reassuring. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery.

Always been impressed with Children's 1st – Derby Road Nursery since my son joined them in 2021, 4 days per week. Always receiving regular updates and great to see how they have created a stimulating, welcoming and friendly learning environment now preparing him for full-time education. Could not be happier and recommend it to anybody looking for a nursery.

A very large nursery setting. Our child suffered an injury that resulted in surgery under general anaesthetic. The nursery was unable to reassure us that our child would be safe to return to nursery.

Great nursery. I have had a previous child attend and this is why I went for this nursery. Staff are polite and professional. My child seems happy and progressing well, my child wakes up every morning asking are we going to nursery today. So I am happy with Children 1st.

A great nursery where the staff really engage with you in regards to your child and work with you. My child has some development delays and the staff have really worked with me and supported with forms, speech therapists and the best ways to support them going forward.

Our older child went to a different nursery when younger so with experience we can say Children 1st Derby Road is an absolutely brilliant nursery. Our previous nursery was absolutely fine, as we knew no different at the time. However, the team here are phenomenal. They are kind, friendly and professional. Nothing is ever too much trouble and we are always met with smiling enthusiastic faces from the moment we enter reception. It's not just 'daycare', they all have vast knowledge and a genuine interest in each child's development. They are keen to understand each child's interests, dislikes and 'quirks' so they can best support them and their parents. We have loved the regular observation updates to know where they/we can help our child develop next. Our child has had so much fun under the safe care of the Derby Road team and they have made some lovely friends also. We have loved watching them grow and thrive under the care of this great team. My daughter loves going to nursery. She enjoys playing with her friends and joining in the activities. She adores her keyworker and the staff who look after her. The staff are always so friendly and supportive. The management team are great and the staff member on reception is always so welcoming. A fantastic nursery.

My son loves coming to nursery. He’s come on so much in the time he’s been going. The staff are amazing and very attentive and really care about the children. He’s also improving at mealtimes since he’s started having dinners at nursery.

I think the main thing they get right is the tone which permeates everything else. You can see and feel that they put child safety first, staff enjoy their work and genuinely care deeply about our children. I would not qualify for a job there. I have a lot of trust in their suggestions and observations. I can't thank them enough for allowing my wife and I to continue our careers knowing our son is in great hands.

When my baby first started at nursery he struggled with being away from his mummy, separation anxiety and was quite emotional and ‘angry’. Also prior to starting nursery he would only sleep in the day if breastfed, walked in buggy or car journey. The staff have been brilliant, so caring and really supportive of his needs. Within a couple of months, he was sleeping happily in his little bed at nursery and now he is such a happy little boy, loves going to nursery and walks in really smiley. He has been transitioning into the next class which has been going brilliantly and he is very excited to be moving up to the next room. He has really grown in confidence over the past month and has built up lovely relationships with staff. I am so pleased with the great care and support that my son gets and would like to say a huge thank you for really looking after him!

My son has been at the nursery for nearly 3 years and he has come on leaps and bounds. He loves going and has a great relationship with the nursery nurses. They are kind, friendly, sensitive and all-around brilliant. The ladies at reception are amazing, super friendly and informative. Everyone knows my son's name which makes it an even better experience.

From the initial enquiry to now three months into his nursery journey, all the ladies have been amazing. Such a lovely environment and always happy. The key workers in my son's room are fantastic, positive and encouraging. They really are lovely and provide such reassurance that it’s the perfect place for development.
