Little Houghton Day Nursery

Little Houghton day nursery is such a wonderful environment for my daughter to learn, play and be supported. The staff are excellent providing great activities and encouraging my daughters interests. The food is also very good and we get a lot of information about how my daughter is getting on.

Our son started nursery in January, first for only two sessions a week now he's going four day a week and we're so pleased with the nursery. Ladies are always helpful and they take good care of my son. He still having tears when staying there but when we're picking him up he's over the moon with his time there. Ladies always checking not only with him but also asking about us. We can see how he developed through these few weeks and we're really happy with the outcome.

I have to agree with the review re the menu since the takeover, but this is completely out of the staff's hands and they must feel equally frustrated and disappointed compared to what was on offer before. That being said, my son has tried and seemingly enjoyed some of the more random combinations to all our surprise.

I am blown away by how brilliant this Nursery is. Their care for my two children (one year old and a three year old) has been absolutely fantastic. The key workers they both have are absolutely amazing. The food they have, the activities that they participate in and the care and attention they receive is just wonderful. All of the staff are great with all the children and I can’t thank them all enough.

We love the nursery and the staff are brilliant. But since being taken over by The Old Station Nursery things have not been the same. The meals are not great and my child comes home hungry after refusing to eat the new meals, we had an additional surcharge added per day that is for meals/nappies/wipes that had always been included in the session prices. They raved how they hadn’t increased charges per session but for some households, their bills have gone up nearly £200 a month which is not covered by the free hour's childcare! And flexibility is now nonexistent. I understand this is not the staff's fault and coming from head office. It’s such a shame the merge has impacted parents in this way.

What a wonderful setting Little Houghton Day nursery is! My son goes two afternoons a week and they care for him as if he never leaves! He had some time off with an illness and the girls in the Ducks room always messaged/called to check on him! The girls are such lovely people and genuinely look after the children as their own!

I will always use this setting and would not put my son anywhere else.

I would highly recommend this kind, caring and friendly nursery! My daughter has been there since she was twelve months old and she absolutely loves it she has really settled which is all down to the nursery nurses! The nursery is very safe and secure. All staff members are friendly and helpful and always have smiles on their faces. They make transitions when the children are moving rooms smoothly, they offer a fantastic menu during the week.

My daughter attends here and she absolutely loves it! She is currently in the bears' room and the staff know her well and know her quirks and personality. She’s thriving and coming on really well! From starting nearly a year ago and attending almost full time she had built some beautiful friendships. I was so worried about her making friends due to being a lockdown baby but her confidence is sky high! Can’t thank the team enough for the care she is given.

Now my youngest is soon to go to school and as expected he is happy and excited. Confidently writing his name, counting endlessly and recognising letters. After a shaky start (he started late due to COVID-19) he is now happy to attend and always asks whether tomorrow is his nursery day. The staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and experienced, many of whom have been there for a number of years, which fills me with confidence. Nothing is too much, no question is silly. They really care about the kids and my son's key person just seems to get him. He’s a bit tricky sometimes, but they get on like a house on fire and she has helped him settle down and blossom. Cannot recommend it enough. Thank you everyone.

My daughter has been going to this nursery since she was seven months old and she loves it! The staff have become more like part of the family than staff and are so friendly and helpful, highly recommend this nursery for your little ones.

Can't rate this nursery enough. The staff are caring and get to know the children really well. They support the children in play, learning and make the atmosphere a lovely place to be. Both my children have attended this nursery and I have never had a complaint, my son barely looks back to say goodbye now and can't wait to leave on mornings he goes to nursery which is a testament in itself. My daughter left last year and because of the care and setup of the nursery, she settled into school with ease. It really is a lovely place!

The staff in preschool went over and above to encourage my son to start eating again after he went through a fussy phase. They persevered with him and were determined not to give up. Very happy with the care.

I highly recommend this nursery to my family and friends. Staff here are very friendly and caring. I have used it for my son for 4 years and currently, my daughter attends here and never had any complaint. They offer different activities and playtime and lovely food for children. An excellent early years setting, the staff and facilities are great! We have had no issues and both of our children have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Little Houghton Day Nursery. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. Well done to all involved.

The support our son has received from his key member in the bears has been more than we could have imagined. Not only do they support, encourage and love our son for who he is, but they are also a huge support to us as parents of a child with a disability. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and to see our son thrive is the best feeling in the world. Our son absolutely loves going to nursery and has made a lot of progress since being there. We feel they listen and understand us and the care and love they show our son is genuine, kind and something we are immensely grateful for. We talk about our nursery to all our friends and family and would recommend any child attending this nursery. Thank you to all of you!

Fantastic nursery, highly committed staff and a wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere. A lovely place for little children to have fun and explore. I’m always very impressed with the activities on offer and the excellent menu and food options for the children. I definitely recommend this nursery to everyone I know!

My daughter has been attending for 2 1/2 years now and has got on very well here. The staff have been very caring, professional and I particularly like the attention to detail in providing a well-rounded menu - my daughter enjoys her food! Weather-permitting, the staff try and have the kids outside fairly often, while the front space is slightly limited, the kids are taken on local walks and to the local park. As importantly, of course, is the focus on the Early Years Foundation Stage as well as playtime. Well recommended!

Most of all, my children are happy and love going to nursery - and I am happy knowing that they are in such a brilliant environment.

My daughter LOVES this nursery. I had to move her from a smaller setting when it closed down and was worried about her settling into a larger setting. The staff were amazing and took the time to help her settle in. They were also very good at reassuring me too! She has now come on in leaps and bounds. The activities are fun and educational too. They provide "share at home" bags which allow us to do activities at home that feed into what they are covering at nursery. I get daily updates verbally and regular updates via their online progress monitoring system. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Caring, friendly, knowledgeable staff.
