Children 1st Grantham Nursery School is situated close to the town centre, with easy access to local bus routes and the train station. The nursery is rated as 'Good' by Ofsted (May 2022).

The environment has been refurbished throughout with bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, early years and out-of-school children aged up to 12-years-old.

Friendly, experienced and well-qualified staff are available to give children and parents the support they need.

Staff to children ratios are even better than Ofsted recommend and the nursery offers funded places for eligible children 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.   

Outside there is a garden with age-specific equipment. Children are encouraged to choose their own activities with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside

I have had two children attend this nursery, one child currently still there in Peter Rabbits and honestly it’s the best nursery I could have ever wished to have my children attend. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, communication is amazing between staff and parents. This nursery and the staff
honestly go above and beyond for any child that attends. If any of my friends ask for recommendations on a nursery for their child I fully recommend Children 1st.

My daughter started here after not being happy at another nursery, her little friend went here so I made the decision to move her and it was the best one I made, me and my daughter didn’t have a easy time with personal issues at home and the support from management, who went out their way to help me
and my daughter, always checking in on us and being part of every meeting I had to attend. My daughter was prepared and ready as much as she could be with COVID and restrictions, they made the transaction from nursery to primary school easy. It was a very emotional goodbye to the girls and team, for helping me bring my little girl up. Updating me every week of her progress, she always left nursery a happy little girl. Thank you again for the 2 years we had with you. It’s got different rooms for different activities, a healthy range of meals and snacks. They followed dietary requirements for my little girl. I would recommend anyone, the nursery is by far the best in the area.

My daughter loves coming to nursery, she's developed so much since coming here. They're all friendly and so welcoming and always available when you need them, all of them. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

Both my children have attended Children 1st @ Grantham from the age of 9 months and I couldn't be happier with the care, support and teaching they have received. My eldest has now left the nursery and has started school happy, confident and independent thanks to the wonderful work of the staff at Children
1st. My youngest is just starting his final year at the nursery and I have no doubt he will have the same amazing experience. Wonderful staff, great facilities, lovely outside areas, bright and stimulating environment and a really welcoming feel whenever we go. Cannot recommend them enough.

My 8-month-old daughter started two weeks ago as I reluctantly returned to work after maternity leave. I felt so anxious about leaving her but Children 1st nursery have done an amazing job in ensuring that my child has had an amazing first few weeks. Staff have listened to routines and surrounded her
with so much love. Particularly staff in the baby room. I can not thank her enough for making sure I receive daily updates and knowing that I leave my baby in safe hands. The environment is bright and clean and the children have a range of activities to choose from and join in with. Every single member of staff is polite and friendly and I am looking forward to our journey with this nursery through to preschool!

Both of my children have now attended this nursery. Both have been very happy with attending.
Excellent staff that are friendly and professional.
A good selection of food is offered to the children.
The nursery is clean and tidy and has plenty of activities for the children.
Staff are always
able to update me on my child's day.

Our daughter has been attending Children 1st for about two months now and she is two years old in the Peter Rabbit group (red). We still have a cry going in but staff always reassure us she is fine (which we can see through the window when we leave). Staff is friendly and will answer any question we
may have. Our daughter has made such amazing progress from counting to ten and knowing colours and shapes to knowing loads of different animals.

Really good nursery, no faults, very clean, my son really likes going. Lovely staff, my son won't go to anyone else but his nursery nurse and I can't fault the experience all the staff have given him. Very sad to see him leave this year as he starts his school.

SMy son had a favourite book, Dig Dig Digging, which he lost somewhere. When the nursery did presents from Santa, my son saw that one of the books was Dig Dig Digging and started reciting it.
So the nursery made sure that my son got a copy from Santa. Best nursery ever.

Excellent nursery, my daughter has been attending since she was two. She’s nearly three and a half and has come so far since attending. The teachers are amazing with her and she has learnt so much and really enjoys going. Really is an amazing nursery.

Excellent nursery that I really recommend as my daughter has attended the nursery since she was two and is now four. She attended a different nursery prior to this and was so shy. She would get upset on drop-offs and then hate going. Since attending Childrens 1st she has come out of her shell, absolutely
loves going to play with all her friends and see all the staff. She will be starting school in September and I cannot thank the staff enough for how well they have prepared her for starting school as she can now write her own name, knows all her single phonics and starting double phonics. Brilliant nursery and staff.

I am very very happy with the care my little girl receives at this nursery. All the staff are fantastic and very friendly. My little one comes home every day very happy. The nursery is always very clean and the activities she does are great - plus it's always great to receive videos and photos of how

My son has attended Children 1st since he was 8 months old, he has thrived and achieved so much already, he is constantly learning new things and has formed such a confident outgoing personality. My son has made lots of friends at nursery that he talks about very often, friendships that will stay with
him due to him and his friends moving into the Peter Rabbits room together and starting their new adventure together. My son loves going to nursery, he physically runs into the room with a beaming smile on his face ready to learn, explore and have fun. The staff at the nursery are always willing to help and offer amazing loving care towards all the children. The nursery provides lots of activities to benefit all children and provide lots of different areas for them to play for them to gain a variety of different play throughout the day.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Hello, I'm Paula Bunn, Manager at Children 1st @ Grantham.
I have over 20 years childcare experience in different settings and roles. I have the level 3 NNEB qualification, an NVQ in Team Leading and an NVQ in Management.
I started working at the Grantham nursery 3 years ago as a Senior Nursery Nurse in the under 2s unit and was promoted to Deputy Manager overseeing the under 3s unit in January 2014, also supporting our EYT and Manager with the day to day running of the Early Years unit and Nursery as a whole.
I am really enjoying my new role as manager at our Outstanding nursery.
I am extremely passionate about the nursery I work in as I was born nearby and get tremendous job satisfaction seeing the wonderful children we look after learn and develop in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. I am also very proud to work for Children 1st, working with the staff at every level to be `The Best`.
