Children 1st Grantham Nursery School is situated close to the town centre, with easy access to local bus routes and the train station. The nursery is rated as 'Good' by Ofsted (May 2022).

The environment has been refurbished throughout with bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, early years and out-of-school children aged up to 12-years-old.

Friendly, experienced and well-qualified staff are available to give children and parents the support they need.

Staff to children ratios are even better than Ofsted recommend and the nursery offers funded places for eligible children 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.   

Outside there is a garden with age-specific equipment. Children are encouraged to choose their own activities with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside

My son has been going to Grantham Children 1st since Dec 2020 and from the day he has started he has loved every minute. He started not knowing many words at all and was behind in a lot of development phases but the staff at Children 1st have supported him leaps and bounds, and we couldn't thank them
enough. My son adores his teachers and his classmates and gets excited just seeing the school building when we drive past. He comes home every time saying something new or doing something new and we are extremely proud of him and thankful we found a nursery like Children 1st. I can't thank the staff enough for all they do.

All 3 of my children have attended Children’s 1st and the feedback, observations, and activities they have done/do are amazing and I couldn’t ask for more. All of the staff are extremely welcoming and have always got a smile on their face. I wouldn’t send my children anywhere else!

Very lovely staff and very helpful, my daughter loves it here and wants to take her teacher with her to big school. I would highly recommend it to anyone. They go above and beyond for you. Always friendly and clean.

This nursery has been brilliant for my daughter over the past two years, she is a very quiet shy little girl but she has really grown in confidence since being here, and has built strong bonds with both staff and classmates, they have prepared her perfectly for her next big step to big school! I absolutely love this nursery, I am always recommending it to everyone I know, they have helped me so much since my little boy started. He loves it there and has an amazing bond with the staff. They have been fantastic throughout lockdown and COVID. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better nursery

This is an absolutely fantastic nursery. I have two children who have been at this setting. One is currently in the baby room at the moment and is extremely happy. The room is full of sensory resources and the staff are all lovely and friendly. They treat the children as if they were their own and are
so caring. My son left the nursery in September to start school. He moved to Children 1st @ Grantham from another nursery which we weren't happy with and was an extremely shy little boy with little confidence. The staff at Children 1st @ Grantham went above and beyond to support him and he left in August a confident child who is now thriving at school. I believe this was due to the dedication and hard work of the staff. They worked hard to improve his confidence and prepare him for his next challenge at school. Staff work hard to get to know all of the children as individuals. This is a well deserved Ofsted outstanding nursery.

This nursery is the best nursery, all my children have been here and currently my youngest is there. They have been amazing, they are all like family here and I am so happy with how well my children have been here as well. The staff are amazing, I can never fault them at all which always really amazes
me. I will always try and get people to go to this nursery cause it’s the best nursery ever. I will miss the nursery once my youngest leaves but I can’t fault anything with this nursery at all. Thank you for being the best nursery guys, keep it up.

My little one had to go to nursery when she was ten months and after visiting three different nurseries the decision was pretty easy, Children’s 1st @ Grantham! The staff was very friendly, the building was excellent, not an adapted old house and the NHS discount really helps. Every single morning when
I drop my princess off and in the evening when I pick her up, I know it was definitely the right decision, she loves it! It’s a peace of mind knowing she’s well looked after and loved. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff, everyone is always helpful and caring. Since she started nine months ago, her development is amazing. Even considering when she started nursery during a pandemic, I always feel safe leaving her there. I don’t think I would trust anyone else to look after my precious girl. Thanks very much every single member of staff who contributes for her happiness and well-being at Children’s 1st @ Grantham.

My son loves this place! I go to work feeling comfortable that he is being left in good hands. Three members of staff in particular are so lovely. All equipment is new, clean and safe. All activities are engaging and great for development! Communication between nursery and home is fantastic and is so
reassuring if you feel nervous about leaving your little one. The on-site cook always prepares varied and nutritious meals. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Good place for children to go. The staff are so helpful , I would recommend to anyone. My children learnt a lot going to Children 1st @ Grantham and would rate them one thousand percent, any child would be happy there, that's my own opinion.

An amazing nursery. I would one hundred percent recommend. The staff are absolutely amazing, friendly and so reliable, always there to offer support to not only the children but to the parents whenever necessary. Children’s 1st @ Grantham is an outstanding nursery, I have one son who is at this nursery and doing amazing with the help and support in The Peter Rabbits Room. One member of staff is so lovely and fantastic at her job in every way, I can’t thank her enough and my son loves her a lot. The nursery has
excellent outside areas for each room, that the children can explore and have lots of fun in. My other son came here years ago too, so this is my second child at this amazing nursery. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the nursery is rated outstanding with Ofsted. Highly recommend.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough, as a first time Mam I was so nervous at the thought of leaving my daughter but I can honestly say I made the best decision picking Children 1st @ Grantham. My little girls confidence has grown so much since attending nursery, she comes home happy, smiling and
telling me all about her day. The staff, each and everyone I have met and spoken to are a gift to the nursery as they are so friendly and you can tell they all want to be there and the children are at the centre of their mind.

This nursery is amazing. I would 100% recommend this nursery. The staff are all so lovely and genuinely caring for my girls. They go above and beyond. One of the staff there helped me walk with the girls when I was struggling on my own to meet their dad, as he was running behind picking up the other
kids from school. They have been amazing to our two girls. They have also helped my daughter thrive as she has additional needs. They have accommodated all her ways as she struggles with change. She has also made wonderful relationships with nursery teachers and their bond is so sweet. I just can’t recommend this nursery enough. I'm very protective of my girls and I feel so at ease when they're at nursery knowing their safe, cared for and so well looked after. They always come home with the biggest smiles on their faces. They are truly outstanding.

My two boys started at the beginning if September and I was so worried as my eldest 16-months when started as was a real mummy's boy and hate change. My youngest was 16-weeks. Paula Bunn

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Hello, I'm Paula Bunn, Manager at Children 1st @ Grantham.
I have over 20 years childcare experience in different settings and roles. I have the level 3 NNEB qualification, an NVQ in Team Leading and an NVQ in Management.
I started working at the Grantham nursery 3 years ago as a Senior Nursery Nurse in the under 2s unit and was promoted to Deputy Manager overseeing the under 3s unit in January 2014, also supporting our EYT and Manager with the day to day running of the Early Years unit and Nursery as a whole.
I am really enjoying my new role as manager at our Outstanding nursery.
I am extremely passionate about the nursery I work in as I was born nearby and get tremendous job satisfaction seeing the wonderful children we look after learn and develop in a happy, safe and stimulating environment. I am also very proud to work for Children 1st, working with the staff at every level to be `The Best`.
