Children 1st Leicester Nursery School is located close to the city centre with easy access from the university, royal infirmary and local bus routes. The nursery has been refurbished throughout to offer bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, pre-school aged children, as well as those in after-school club.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and experienced to provide a stimulating learning environment for each child.

The nursery features a spacious garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, with carefully chosen, age-specific equipment. All children are encouraged to choose their own activities both indoors and out to promote independent learning.

The nursery also offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

My son was in a different nursery and it wasn't as good as this which he is now. I really like this nursery because staff is very nice. My son has learnt loads since he started coming here.

The nursery and it's staff have an amazing ethos. I have been using their service for the last 5 years now with both my children attending since they were one. I have loved seeing how my babies have thrived throughout each specific specialised room which has helped them to grow, develop and learn and
become more independent. The staff have been amazing in each area, providing the attention to my children every step if the way, they have all been like 2nd mothers when I myself cannot be there - thank you to each and everyone there, they are an amazing set of people with huge hearts. When advice has been needed, the nursery have always helped, for example with potty training and eating habits. They have always taken on any feedback with positive commitment and the management and day to day running is thanks to the fantastic management team on site, great work :)

We can honestly say this is an excellent nursery for your child. My son has attended for over 6 months and he has flourished in the care of the excellent members of staff. Just before Christmas, we moved house and our son was to start a new nursery. He did settling in sessions at his new nursery and
attended 2 days there before we realised how poor the new nursery was in comparison. We were able to return to the nursery quickly and with little-added disruption to our son's schedule. He settled back in instantly.


At Children 1st @ Leicester, all the team have a genuine interest in getting to know and care for your child. The meals have a wide variety and the routines of the day allow the children to settle well. I can not speak highly enough about the staff and managers at this nursery. We would use again for any future children. Highly recommended.

Childrens 1st @ Leicester is a great environment for my son. He always enjoys being there. Childrens 1st @ Leicester always endeavour to suit our son's needs which is fantastic as some nurseries are not as accommodating. I would definitely recommend Childrens 1st @ Leicester.

My daughter has been going to Riverside since she was eight months old, she’s now 21 months old. She’s really happy there, the staff are brilliant. They know all the children well as individuals and treat them with kindness. They have a great range of activities. They communicate with us really well,
so we always know how she’s doing. I would recommend the nursery to anyone.

Everything in Children 1st is oriented and made for children, targeted at their level and empowering them to do things themselves. I love the fact that adults are made to adapt themselves to the world of the children who are really the centre of the nursery. Most of all though I love the staff. The
team is fantastic throughout all the rooms, including management and other members of staff like cleaners and cooks. Every time our daughter had to change a room I was scared the staff would not be as nice in the next room, but they have been. Everyone is caring and truly involved with the children, which has made us all feel so at home.

Children 1st offer lots of opportunities with all latest toys encouraging my son all the time. Healthy food - he loves to eat there. His key worker is just amazing, I couldn't have chosen a better place to send him.

The fact that my child likes to come to nursery and doesn't cry when I drop him shows me that he enjoys. The nursery is clean and smart. My child shows improvements, He can count 1-10, he likes us to read to him at home, he can sing a lot of nursery rhymes. He can eat independently well. The nursery
staff communicate well with me. The nursery is very reliable and I feel safe to leave my child there. Will you please consider to review paying even if the child doesn't attend nursery or if the child is poorly.

Our daughter has been attending since she was 6 months old and is now 3. We all love the nursery from the care they show, the development, range of activities and the friendships she has built with staff and other children. It will be a shame when she has to go to school later this year. I would recommend

My daughter went here from age 2 - 4yrs and she enjoyed it
Then I put my younger daughter in from 9 months and she is coming on very well.

My child has been going to this nursery since 2015 November when she was 2.5 years old. I first tried sending her for 3 weeks to another nursery nearby where she would never adjust. Whereas the staff at Children 1st assured me that she would be fine and like they promised, she got settled within very
less time and since been going there. Her habits, speech and behaviour have definitely improved and the credit goes to the team at Children 1st Leicester. She even enjoys the fresh food served there. Will surely recommend to anyone living nearby.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Hello, my name is Danielle and I am the Nursery Manager here at Children 1st @ Leicester.
I began my journey in childcare in 2013 as an apprentice and have worked my way through each position with Children 1st. Having had the experience of each role within the nursery has given me the confidence and the breadth of experience to guide and support the staff where needed.
I love being the Nursery Manager as I am able to share my expertise and expectations with the staff alongside supporting parents when their little one first starts nursery and then progresses through each stage. We have currently undergone a beautiful refurbishment and look forward to sharing this with yourselves too!
