Children 1st Leicester Nursery School is located close to the city centre with easy access from the university, royal infirmary and local bus routes. The nursery has been refurbished throughout to offer bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, pre-school aged children, as well as those in after-school club.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and experienced to provide a stimulating learning environment for each child.

The nursery features a spacious garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, with carefully chosen, age-specific equipment. All children are encouraged to choose their own activities both indoors and out to promote independent learning.

The nursery also offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

We visited many local nurseries before deciding to go with Children 1st @ Leicester. The staff are amazing and the service and care that we have received has been truly outstanding. Our child loves going to nursery and has developed so much since attending.
The cost is very high in my opinion but this
reflects in the service that is delivered by all staff.
My recommendations would be to increase the size of the outside pram storage building as it is currently not big enough for the amount of prams being stored in there. This results in your child's pram/buggy getting bruised and battered by others who are trying to get their pram/buggy out of the storage building.
I would also recommend that they bring back the healthy snacks that they use to leave out every day for the children for the journey home. This used to be fresh fruit or dried fruit but in the last six months we have noticed that on many days there is nothing left out? We are not sure why this is.

Knowing that this nursery has an outstanding rate and after paying my daughter’s nonreturnable (save a place fee) and the high price list compared to other nurseries in town, I am honestly very disappointed. I feel really bad whenever I remember my time in there. First, as a mum, I have never been given
the support and sympathy of being new to leaving my daughter. The manager and most of the staff I met there were all rushing to do paperwork and finish the duties of their job. I didn’t feel that there is genuine affection towards working with kids. When raising a situation, I witnessed a little boy who was crying for quite a long period with no one to approach him to kind of assure him. I felt terrible especially as there was one member of staff who had a kid with her and was sitting just watching. The manager told me about tough love. The nursery’s room was packed with children, the area is small compared with the number of children which doesn't allow the kids freedom.

We spent considerable time looking for our daughter's first nursery. Having chosen Children 1st @ Leicester we could not have been happier. Our child was taken under their wing and soon settled. She has learnt far more than we expected at an early age and they have looked after her on a one to one basis
when required. She has grown very fond of the staff there. Thank you to Children 1st @ Leicester and all of the staff for looking after our little girl.

Satisfactory but I had no problem with taking my child out. There could be improvements on presentation of rooms and relationship with parents. Feedback about my child's day could be filled in properly. Some aspects of it were good and some staff were nice. My child just didn't seem to settle well

Amazing staff, all of them are so friendly.
My daughter was just 6 months when started going there and she got used to everyone there after the first week which we did not expect to happen so quickly, now she does love it and enjoys her time there.

Best nursery I've sent my kids to. After only moving last summer it was very stressful starting uni again, finding work for my husband and also finding a good nursery for my two. All the different funding also took a while to sort out and the nursery have been amazing. They've helped me with all my
forms and given advice when I've needed it and have been so patient with us so can't thank them enough.

My daughter started at Children 1st age 14 months. She hadn't started walking and didn't spend much time around other children before this. I am so pleased that I made the decision for her to attend nursery despite my apprehensions. She has developed in confidence, is walking, developed her speech and
even her table manners! The staff at the nursery are all very lovely and give me a rundown of my daughter's day every time I go to pick her up. The nursery itself is lovely and bright, with windows on all the classrooms so it is very open.
I don't have anything negative to say about Children 1st.

My daughter's speech, confidence and overall development have improved since she started this nursery. I also noticed children are always engaged and not left by themselves and the nursery workers are friendly, caring and very supportive. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone.

A fantastic nursery that has really helped to progress my daughter's development at lightning speed. She has been there since February 2017 and she loves going to nursery. The staff are all very friendly and always happy to help and guide us. Would thoroughly recommend this nursery.

The nursery is generally good as are the staff and the managers. The environment is clean at all times. The children love to go to nursery. The nursery is situated near the town where you are able to connect to different areas easily. There is a good car park at the site. The nursery offers excellent
care and services. The toilets are always smart and clean. The manager is available when you need her and she can respond to matters arising (she is very good). Children are encouraged to eat 5 a day, they provide different fruit every day and fresh water to encourage the children to drink water.

Our eldest child attended the nursery and enjoyed it very much, we felt it gave her a great start in life. Especially in terms of social interaction, play and learning. We are now back with our second child! It’s great that so many of the team that looked after our first child are still here, it’s nice
to see familiar faces. They do a very good job and provide so much more than basic childcare. We really like seeing the daily activities on the app. We’re very happy we chose this nursery and would recommend it to others.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Hello, my name is Danielle and I am the Nursery Manager here at Children 1st @ Leicester.
I began my journey in childcare in 2013 as an apprentice and have worked my way through each position with Children 1st. Having had the experience of each role within the nursery has given me the confidence and the breadth of experience to guide and support the staff where needed.
I love being the Nursery Manager as I am able to share my expertise and expectations with the staff alongside supporting parents when their little one first starts nursery and then progresses through each stage. We have currently undergone a beautiful refurbishment and look forward to sharing this with yourselves too!
