The Orange Tree Day Nursery @ Mickleover

My son started in the nursery at 15 months and is leaving preschool this month. During this time, there have been significant improvements to the facilities, with a lot of money spent on developing both the internal and external environment, including refurbishment of all the units, new toys and resources, and construction of a much larger preschool unit. The facilities are truly first class. However, the standout feature still remains the huge outdoor play area which is well utilised and loved by the kids. The manager is quick to deal with any minor issues that may arise and overall, the staff are lovely and clearly care a lot about the children, their safety, well-being and learning. My only real criticism of the nursery is the staff turnover. A lot of staff (even those who had been working there for a long time) have left in recent months. This is rarely communicated to parents and causes a lack of continuity of care. It also raises some concerns about staff wellbeing and welfare.

Amazing nursery! Both my children love it, I wouldn't send them anywhere else. The outside play area is fantastic for all the children. All the ladies that work here are very friendly! Thanks all for all the help.

I am so pleased to be sending my daughter to Orange Tree in Mickleover. She has loved it for over a year, and is just moving up into the butterfly room, and I feel emotional as her currently key workers have been so amazing. The nursery are accommodating with our need for flexible hours and have, on occasion, allowed last-minute changes, but are always very fair when unable to. My daughter can't wait to get into the building every time and on picking up, all the children look so happy in the environment. Spotlessly clean, child centred, engaging, incredible outdoor area; I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter has been attending Orange Tree Day Nursery for just over a year now and she absolutely loves it! She started in the baby room, she is currently in the Caterpillars and she will very soon be moving up to Butterflies! The staff at the nursery are amazing, they really do care for the children and you can see how much fun they all have. My daughter has progressed so much in her development since starting at Nursery and it is amazing to see how much she enjoys going.

The Orange Tree at Mickleover were my first choice nursery for my two children (both of whom are still there) having looked at many in the Derby area. The nursery practitioners are well-skilled, kind, loving and nurturing in everything that they do. My two children have grown through all the rooms from the baby suite to pre-school and they love going there! The provisions they provide for the children are age appropriate but challenging and my two have thrived there! The outside space is AMAZING and the children are outdoors in all weathers learning through play - active play and with nature. I love that everything they do there is learning through play! They go above and beyond for your child and treat everyone individually according to their needs. My two children also have allergies and they have been brilliant in ensuring that they are safe there with all the activities and food is prepared separately - very reassuring for parents. I cannot rate them highly enough.

Would highly recommend this nursery to anyone whos looking for a nursery in the Derbyshire area

My son is currently in the baby room and my daughter has previously attended the preschool room. I can't begin to say how great this nursery is. The environment is the best I've seen of all the local nurseries, it's new, clean and safe and access to the outdoors is so easy and secure. The baby room is pretty bump-proof with a great nap area. The garden is incredible! The care has also been amazing, my son has been unwell recently and I've been very confident in sending him back to nursery knowing the attentive care he will receive. Even though this nursery adds more time to our commute we decided this was a small sacrifice not to have to worry about our children throughout the day.

My daughter started The Orange Tree Day Nursery in October 2020 and I have never felt at ease leaving her with the amazing staff. They have made me and my daughter feel like they are apart of our family. The staff and management team are friendly kind and always have time to talk. The staff are knowledgeable, aware and give me feedback at the end of the day. They are always positive and encourage this behaviour within the nursery setting. There safeguarding policy is great and all the staff members are knowledgeable and have a good understanding of this topic. I can say that the nursery is outstanding with amazing, friendly staff and management.

An excellent nursery that is well run with professional, friendly and caring staff. My daughter loves going here and she has developed so much since starting. I am very pleased I chose this nursery and I would definitely recommend it.

The Orange Tree Day Nursery & Mickleover is a fantastic nursery. Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery and she has really developed and grown during her time there! We have been very happy with the wonderful care she has received whilst at nursery.

They do amazing innovative activities and it's incredible how much they do with the kids. The app is a brilliant way to keep in touch and see pictures of what my son is doing there and hearing things he's said. I feel like we've got a real connection with the nursery and will be sad when it's time for my son to move on, he's made some lovely little friends there too. During the Coronavirus pandemic, nursery have been brilliant and I'm so grateful for how supportive they've been, don't know what we would've done without them!

Both of my children have been to this nursery over the last six years and it is truly the best. The staff are always so friendly and happy to see the children. They are always so accommodating to children’s needs. The massive garden and open space is amazing. My children always come home happy and excited about their day at nursery.

My daughter has been part of The Orange Tree family for almost a year and we couldn’t be happier that we chose this to be her nursery. As soon as I set foot in The Orange Tree, I just knew it was where I wanted my daughter to go. Every single member of staff goes above and beyond, my daughter is so happy and absolutely loves it. She is always coming home with pictures and other arts and crafts that she has made, she eats varied healthy meals each day and above all else I know I am leaving her in safe hands which puts my mind completely at ease. The outside space is incredible, unlike anywhere else you will see, the children have the most amazing outdoor setting to play in throughout the year. In these unprecedented times, we find ourselves in, the staff at The Orange Tree have kept in touch with us every step of the way and have even done video calls every morning for the children which is just amazing. We just love it there and literally don’t have a bad word to say.

I can always be sure that she is safe and well. The facilities are plentiful and clean, with a wonderful outdoor area. I have huge confidence in this nursery and feel that my daughter has grown and developed hugely from it.

Our children are both so happy as part of The Orange Tree family. The nursery itself has fantastic facilities with the best outdoor space of anywhere we visited. We love that our children use the orchard every day to explore and have fun with their friends. The staff are all professional and knowledgeable and plan activities that cover the curriculum creatively. Our children are both making fantastic progress but it is the focus on their emotional development and the encouragement to be determined, independent little thinkers that celebrate their successes that we really appreciate. I have recommended The Orange Tree to many of my friends and will continue to do so.

A fantastic nursery in a beautiful rural setting with lovely, spacious outdoor areas. The staff are warm and caring, and genuinely seem invested in your children. Activities are creative and varied, food is healthy and nutritious and the children have great fun. Highly recommended.

My daughter has now been at The Orange Tree @ Mickleover for over two and a half years. She has received a warm welcome into all three of the units she has been in and developed strong relationships with the staff. There are lots of lovely facilities at the nursery and they are constantly working on improvements and adding new learning aids and activities. Zebra Orange Tree, Mickleover has a fabulous outdoor space The Orchard which is an amazing space for the children to play and learn. We have always been very happy with the Orange Tree and I always have complete peace of mind leaving my daughter in their care. I would recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a safe, quality child care provider with excellent staff and facilities.

Absolutely delighted with our daughters first time at nursery. Previous to finding this nursery we had a bad experience with another nursery at a settling in session. We came across The Orange Tree Day Nursery through the internet. We rang and were offered a look around the next day, when we arrived we were taken to look around all rooms and explained the days routine. Lovely staff with very welcoming attitudes. We're so happy our little girl is settled here and can't thank the staff enough.

Excellent character and notion. Staff are kind, generous and been very supportive. Would definitely recommend this place based on personal experience and have no issues or quarrels in supporting them by reviews, they do a tremendous job.
