First Steps Ashton Court have a large and bright nursery with purpose-designed rooms for each age group. They offer a real personal touch and like to think of their nursery as a big family!
They are big on happy children. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world.
The nursery are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.
They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They also have an app called ParentZone which parents/carers can stay informed on how their little ones are doing at nursery, with photos of their day, meals eaten and even toilet training progress.
They use 5 Little Pioneers to help share their core values with children, from making their own decisions to making a difference in the world.
At Ashton Court, they enjoy trying out yoga! They make regular trips to the Forest School, where they encourage their children to enjoy nature and play in a woodland environment. The children also learn how to handle (appropriate) risk, solve problems on their own and work cooperatively with others.

The nursery invoices you for bank holidays and when questioned, you're told it’s part of the terms and conditions that you sign up for. You are expected to pay for bank holidays when the nursery itself is closed. Invoicing procedure is totally absurd.
My child was having more than one nap a day, I
would go to pick her up after work to find her asleep which then messed with her sleeping pattern at night. I was glad to get her out of this nursery and into a more professional nursery.
This nursery charges a very premium rate but if I was to rate them, they are very much below average. I would never recommend this nursery to anyone.

The nursery uses iConnect so I receive assessment reports, daily messages regarding meals, nappy changes and sleep. Which then frees up time for my child's Key-person/buddy to pass on WoW moments and personal achievements when I collect her each day.

Staff are very attentive and caring. My child gets bespoke care and attention. The indicators of being a great nursery is my child going to nursery happy and coming home happy and wanting to talk about it. Majority of the teachers have been there from early on in their careers and have successfully
developed and continue to show great passion and enthusiasm for their vocation. You can clearly see it means something to them seeing their children grow and develop in a happy and caring environment. They work extremely hard. I just hope the nursery staff and management are looked after just the same, as I have been to many nurseries and you don't get the quality of care as you do here. To add, it's clean and vibrant and hygiene is of high standards. A testament to them, it's not used as a drop of centre, parents and staff do interact well with one another. I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic staff that create a friendly, open and secure environment for my little boy. You feel like part of a big family. Staff were brilliant with my son's separation anxiety. Forest school is such a great idea

First steps nursery is a good nursery for my son and I'm pleased with the care they provide for my son. The nursery has provided all the needs for my son who has needs and they have demonstrated that they can cater for any child. this has made settled my mind and I'm always at peace when he is at nursery.
Thank you.

My daughter enjoys her time at First Steps. It is so lovely at the end of the day to see her happy and full of stories from her day. The staff are great and really get to know the children. I know she is well looked after and I appreciate all the support and care they give my child.

First Steps is an outstanding nursery. I have recommended first steps to friends family, I speak very highly of First Steps Childrens Nursery. However, since Co-op have taken over it is more of a business venture than a nursery. I know there have to be changes however I would have expected baby steps
rather than giant ones. Eg invoices, newsletters. Co-op hasn't even introduced themselves properly.

I moved my son to First Steps after a bad experience with a local nursery. Both he and I were extremely nervous to go to new child care but we couldn't have been happier with the care that was provided. My little boy has really come out of himself after starting First Steps and has made some invaluable
relationships along the way with both children and carers. There is always someone to answer the phone, pass on a message, or give you a smile. And there is always a hand to hold or a carer to cuddle at drop off time. I couldn't be happier with First Steps. I just wish we had found this sooner.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.607)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.607) out of 10 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.617 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.617
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.99 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 number of registered child places is 10.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.49
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
