First Steps Ashton Court have a large and bright nursery with purpose-designed rooms for each age group. They offer a real personal touch and like to think of their nursery as a big family!
They are big on happy children. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world.
The nursery are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.
They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They also have an app called ParentZone which parents/carers can stay informed on how their little ones are doing at nursery, with photos of their day, meals eaten and even toilet training progress.
They use 5 Little Pioneers to help share their core values with children, from making their own decisions to making a difference in the world.
At Ashton Court, they enjoy trying out yoga! They make regular trips to the Forest School, where they encourage their children to enjoy nature and play in a woodland environment. The children also learn how to handle (appropriate) risk, solve problems on their own and work cooperatively with others.

A really good nursery caters to all children’s needs. The staff are really brilliant and the communication is good. My child has grown so much and has learnt a lot from his speech to interacting and learning with other kids. The manager is really good and very understanding and also approachable.

Ashton Court Llittle Pioneers always goes above and beyond. I feel at ease dropping off my little one but the best part is they do so many activities my little one absolutely loves it. Painting arts and crafts, outdoor play, water play, tole play, shopping trips to the park and library it's just amazing.
I'm due my second child and getting the application ready now for a year's time as I will not miss out on a slot. Thanks for being amazing Ashton Court.

I changed my daughter’s nursery to this nursery in February and she has been here for a little under 2 months but I can see a massive difference from this change. She is extremely happy at Little Pioneers Ashton Court, she loves going out to nursery and even hesitates to leave at pick up time. I can
see she loves all the activities she does at nursery and she always returns home a very happy child and I wonder why I did not start my journey with Ashton Court much earlier. I’d definitely be recommending this nursery to all my friends and colleagues. Keep the excellent work up team

Fantastic, friendly nursery that has been very supportive and helped the development of my son. He loves being at nursery as the staff are extremely loving and welcoming. Food and dinners cooked are also fresh, and healthy and my son loves them!

My daughter started here in September 2020. Since birth she was in lockdown. She really enjoys this nursery and has developed independence, confidence and her speech is improving. For a toddler going in 1 day a week for the first 6 months, she's done really well. The staff are fantastic, energetic,
positive and have time and patience to discuss my daughter's development. Even when staff were off sick, they managed to consistently manage the care smoothly. The manager is highly professional and has gone out of her way to accommodate my daughter's needs. I feel confident and assured my little one is safe and happy as they regularly update the app and tell me what she is doing. I can tell my daughter is really well cared for when I pick her up and it's a joy to see her hair plaited so nicely when it gets messy in the day. My son however didn't enjoy it as much but that was 8 years ago which is why I was hesitant at first. I'm so glad I gave it a go. Every child is different.

It’s the first half term for our little boy who started at reception in September and he has already developed so much with the change of environment and people around him. He entered this new world, as one would expect, with a little trepidation but also with self-confidence, inquisitiveness, and a
sense of fun. His years at First Steps, even though disrupted by covid, have prepared him so well for this, providing a caring and nurturing environment and his early years of learning, from building blocks to phonics and numbers. We miss the staff and his friends and families, some we still see of course. We'd like to say a big thank you to First Steps management and staff for being part of our lives and wish them all the best in continuing to provide this wonderful service.

My son has been attending the nursery since he was 18 months old, he’s now 2. In that time he has come on so much he’s almost like a different child, his speech is incredible and he’s always having the best time there. The girls always let me know that he’s ok and it puts my mind at ease every time
he’s there, I couldn’t recommend this nursery enough because everyone is so welcoming and it’s such a beautiful nursery also, they take so much pride in showing off the children’s work always.

My daughter started nursery in February and I can not praise her key person, key buddy, the manager, and all the friendly nursery staff enough. She never fully settled with the childminder before starting First Steps Ashton Court, so I was anxious about how she would settle in, but her key person and
buddy helped her to feel comfortable and she settled in so quickly. She loves going to nursery and her confidence has grown week on week. It is such a happy environment for the children. I regularly receive updates on her day through the app and get information on observations from the key person on her development with home links where we are encouraged to support and secure skills she is developing in the nursery.

Can’t recommend this nursery and their staff enough! All of the team are so warm, lovely, and welcoming and seem to genuinely love their careers. Even the staff who don’t work in my son's room with him have taken their time out to get to know him and speak to him on arrival, when leaving, etc. They
all have an enthusiastic, genuine, and kind manner which makes it a lot easier leaving my child there if he is unsettled. My son struggled to settle for a good while but is getting there now thanks to the support and commitment of the staff that work with him. The food given to the children is always healthy and sounds delicious! The photo updates, nappy updates, etc. via the app are always regular and consistent too. Lots of different activities and arts and crafts take place, and staff get to know what each individual child likes and dislikes, aiming games, toys, and activities, etc. towards their likes. Children here are always safe and cared for to a very high standard.

My son loves nursery!
I'm a single mum who works full-time so he attends five days a week and it can be hard to leave your child in someone else's care for all that time without feeling guilty.
But he is excited to go every day and always comes out happy. He has great relationships with the staff
and its clear they care about him too.
Communication is good and I feel like I still know all about his day despite not being there physically.
I feel comfortable to talk to any member of staff about any quibbles and they go over and above to make sure I'm happy with the care.
I'd recommend Ashton Court to anyone. Fantastic!

I am extremely happy with the care and support my daughter receives from Ashton Court First Steps Childrens Nursery. The staff within her room go above and beyond when caring for her additional (CP) needs adapting activities and following her occupational therapist plan to help develop her fine motor
skills. My daughter loves nursery and happily talks about nursery life at home.

My daughter has happily attended the nursery and I feel it has been a home away from home. It has been a difficult few months, mainly for parents, not being able to take young children to the room etc. Although the contact via the app makes up for this and I appreciate the photos which I can view over
the course of the day - it allows me to feel part of her day. My daughter seems to enjoy nursery, being with other children and is doing well.

We have tried a few nurseries within Wolverhampton and this was the one that really made my son feel special, comfortable and at ease. His nursery nurse is absolutely amazing. Makes my son want to come to nursery and all the staff are really friendly. Management is amazing and they are thoughtful and
really polite. If I could turn back time, this is the nursery I would have wanted to go to myself.

The nursery and administrative staff are very professional, welcoming and take a genuine interest in the children. The handover at the end of the day is really useful and a great way to connect home and nursery life. The staff are always positively inquisitive of what the children do at home to enrich
their nursery experience. My children only started in September and every time we pull up they have huge smiles and get excited knowing where they are.

The care and attention given to each child is wonderful. First impressions are of a caring family unit - and the more I see, the more that this comes through. I feel even more reassured knowing how many years of experience the staff have between them. Cannot rate this facility highly enough.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.499) out of 10 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.699 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is calculated as follows: ( (109 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 143 Ratings = 4.699
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 number of registered child places is 10.2, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
