First Steps Ashton Court have a large and bright nursery with purpose-designed rooms for each age group. They offer a real personal touch and like to think of their nursery as a big family!
They are big on happy children. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world.
The nursery are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.
They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They also have an app called ParentZone which parents/carers can stay informed on how their little ones are doing at nursery, with photos of their day, meals eaten and even toilet training progress.
They use 5 Little Pioneers to help share their core values with children, from making their own decisions to making a difference in the world.
At Ashton Court, they enjoy trying out yoga! They make regular trips to the Forest School, where they encourage their children to enjoy nature and play in a woodland environment. The children also learn how to handle (appropriate) risk, solve problems on their own and work cooperatively with others.

First Steps Day Nursery is a home from home setting with amazing staff. Both our sons have/are attending and absolutely love coming. All the staff are very friendly/happy and welcoming and can't do enough for both children and parents. Our son's development has definitely excelled during their time
here.

Ashton Court has been very good through my daughter's transition to nursery. This is something as a first-time parent I was very anxious about. We have seen the progress she has made already after only a month. We look forward to the updates we get on a daily basis about what our daughter is getting
up to.

Overall the atmosphere and energy is always upbeat and staff are always welcoming, even staff who do not work with my child all make an effort to address me and my son. Any minor concerns I have as a parent always get addressed promptly. These are extremely small issues but the staff will always take
note. They get to know the characters of children and are happy to adapt to their needs.

My son has been attending this nursery since he was 13 months old. He is now 2 and a half years old and I am very pleased with how the nursery is preparing him for school. I am pleased with how the nursery encourages parents to take part in activities centred around the nursery and children. I am also
pleased with how they keep you up to date with your child's development. Overall, I am very pleased with the service I have received from Ashton Court First Steps Nursery in the last few years which has enabled me to carry on with my full-time education.

He absolutely loves going, they are
focused on achieving the best out of your child and all have a positive nature. I have a great relationship with all members of staff and they are always there to help with my enquires
A* nursery, wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Management in-house is excellent but I haven’t met anyone from the Co-op Childcare yet.

Very happy with this nursery. My child is happy and confident. Learning and interacting with other children. Has so much fun whilst being there. She does get upset in the morning when I drop her off but after the staff reassure her she is fine within minutes and is off playing. I would recommend this
nursery and I have not a bad word to say about it.

My Son has been going to Ashton Court Nursery for 2 months now. He is under 1 years of age and I was very apprehensive to send him to nursery so young, however, the staff are so lovely and friendly and professional and I instantly knew I was making the right choice sending him thereupon meeting them
all for the first time. The difference in his development at home since he has been going for 2 months is brilliant.
I didn’t realise that they concentrate so much on progression and was happy to know just how much effort is put into every child there.
They are currently working on his walking, he’s trying new foods every day and he gets excited every time we get near the gate as he knows where he is going.
I also like the fact that I am able to bring some things from home like his blanket and familiar toys if need be to relax him.
I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone.

A wonderful organisation with talented, experienced, committed and fun loving staff. I've sent both my children here over the past five years and remain consistently impressed with their standards.
First Steps is a lovely community and both of my children have been/are currently very happy here. Management
is hands-on, all staff very approachable and helpful. They have a great gauge of reading children and noticing their tiny cues and their personalities emerging. It's a loving environment where children will blossom, giggle, learn and explore beautifully.

My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery, she has bonded so well with all the staff who are always so friendly and helpful. They always take part in many different activities and she is so excited to tell me about her day when she gets home. My daughter's key workers always keep me informed about
her progress which I couldn't be happier with. I wouldn't send my daughter to any other nursery and we will both miss Ashton Court First Steps when she starts school in September.

All staff are welcoming to both myself and my son. The whole nursery is nurturing and creates a homely environment for all children. My son has created close bonds and relationships with all members of staff and children throughout all age ranged classes. My son loves all the activities - especially
singing and he is always bringing his experiences home to talk about.

All of the team at First Steps Compton are so warm and welcoming, I feel like signing myself up.
The nursery is run extremely well and the manager is easy to approach and very hands-on.
The initial settling in period was tough. My husband would call to check up on our daughter four to five times
a day, however, the staff were always really friendly and understanding which made it easier.
Our daughter's first key worker was wonderful - a true gem who always gave plenty of cuddles and attention which really helped her settle in.
Our daughter absolutely adores her current key worker - her current key worker has really taken the time to get to know our daughter as an individual and her development has flourished as a result of her personalised approach and expertise.
The nursery team post daily updates and photos on the ParentZone app which as a busy full-time working mum are great. They also post regular developmental observations which give insight into continuing her development at home.
I couldn’t be happier.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.607)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.607) out of 10 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.617 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.617
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.99 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 number of registered child places is 10.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.49
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
