First Steps Ashton Court have a large and bright nursery with purpose-designed rooms for each age group. They offer a real personal touch and like to think of their nursery as a big family!
They are big on happy children. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world.
The nursery are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.
They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They also have an app called ParentZone which parents/carers can stay informed on how their little ones are doing at nursery, with photos of their day, meals eaten and even toilet training progress.
They use 5 Little Pioneers to help share their core values with children, from making their own decisions to making a difference in the world.
At Ashton Court, they enjoy trying out yoga! They make regular trips to the Forest School, where they encourage their children to enjoy nature and play in a woodland environment. The children also learn how to handle (appropriate) risk, solve problems on their own and work cooperatively with others.

My son has been at Ashton Court for over 3 years, and it has been a really positive experience for him and for us! The practitioners are really friendly, caring and very supportive, they know my son very well and always know the right way to support his development. They always respond to his individual
needs and invest a lot of time in coming up with new ways to engage with him. It is a happy, bright, friendly environment, I am kept informed and receive lovely photos and updates regularly. Very happy with the nursery, staff are hardworking, devoted, professional, kind and very caring and would highly recommend. Thank you all and many thanks to Blue room for helping my son transition to the new room, he seems very happy there!

Our son has been attending this kindergarten for the past three years, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The teachers and staff are incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely care about each child's well-being and development. Over the years, we've seen our son grow in confidence, curiosity,
and social skills, and we know the nurturing environment at this kindergarten played a huge role in that.

My son is enjoying the nursery and the company of the staff and his key buddy.
When attending his first few days at the nursery, my son was very unsettled, however he has gain confidence whilst being there. My son enjoys participating alongside with other children and gained him the boost that he needs
although I strongly feel when relating to the app, I am not notified of any pictures relating to my son.The app could improve on posting more pictures. Overall I feel the staff and management are doing a tremendous job in looking after my son, so thank you very much.

Over the festive season, the nursery put on a breakfast with Santa on a Saturday morning. It was a really good event. Ticketed and older siblings were allowed to attend. Good range of breakfast cereals, yoghurts, sausage sandwiches (including vegetarian), juices, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Santa
came to visit everyone in each room. Then after breakfast we were able to go into the Grotto to talk to Santa who also gave a present. There was colouring to keep the children entertained and they also played with the toys in the room. For our first breakfast with Santa experience this was a relaxed event and thoroughly enjoyed by myself and my two children who attend Ashton Court. The staff volunteered to help out and I hope it's an event that is repeated again.

We picked this nursery back in 2022 because it was the closest to home and nice and small. I didn’t want my first getting lost in a big nursery.
Overall we love the nursery, the staff are great! My oldest has grown so much for being there. My only thing is the food is not great! I feel like for the
premium price, they need to do a better job at providing more variety and nutrition. It’s either beans, soup or a pasta bake. And the chef is the cleaner. So for me, I’d expect a chef for the nursery fees we pay.
However, we will be sending my daughter in a few week's time, so we’re happy enough with the care provided. Another thing that has disappointed me recently is there are fewer photos on the app. I understand this is due to staffing issues, but what they capture is great! The most important thing for us is that our children are happy and developing and they are! This is why we will continue to send all our children here.

We couldn't be happier with the care provided by Ashton Court. The staff care for our children as they would their own with an abundance of love and kindness. Both my children love their time at nursery and it is clear to see how beneficial it is being for their development. The staff constantly update
the activities on offer across the rooms, as parents we are kept involved and there is a real focus on child lead learning.

I am so glad we decided to send our children to Ashton Court as it feels like leaving our children with family.

Positive experience with settling my daughter.
Feel like even though she's settled with key staff she can still struggle with others. Feel that other staff could interact more.

I have been with Ashton Court for over 5 years now through my 1st and 2nd child. The staff throughout have been wonderful and really got to know my children. My girls have really felt at home here and have created really lovely relationships with staff over the years. The social development I saw in
both of them has been incredible. I completely trust everybody here and think everybody does a fantastic job.

My daughter has been with Little Pioneers since she was 1 year till she is 4.5 years old. We absolutely loved each and everything about the nursery.
The manager and her team are exceptionally good and contributed a lot to my child’s development.
I always thought that potty training was the most
difficult thing for me but my daughter’s teachers made it so easy and trained her in just 3 days!
They all deserve a massive thanks for their efforts. My daughter still misses her nursery and teachers because it was like a second home to her.

We have two daughters at the nursery and both of them are always happy to come in. The staff are fantastic! Always goes that step further to create an amazing atmosphere in each room. We really love the fact that kids take part in many Montessori - based activities. They learn something new every day.
We feel super confident as parents to leave both our daughters with the staff. Each day we pick them up they don't want to go home. I think that means something! I highly recommended it! It make us feel like we were at home.

My daughter started Ashton Court Nursery after two failed attempts at another nursery. My daughter would cry all the time. Changed 2 nurseries in 2 months. But when I got my daughter here she just loved this place. She got used to this place within a month. She did take some time to know everyone. Everyone
here is so amazing. Both my nephews were in the same nursery.

I can't thank you enough for the efforts that these girls put into looking after our children. To her key workers and cookie-(that's what my daughter calls her) are amazing girls. My daughter absolutely loves them. And yes can't thank their Manager enough for making everything happen. She is definitely the heart of Ashton Court. Thank you for looking after my daughter and thank you for everything.

Just the app needs some upgrades.

Ashton Court Llittle Pioneers always goes above and beyond. I feel at ease dropping off my little one but the best part is they do so many activities my little one absolutely loves it. Painting arts and crafts, outdoor play, water play, tole play, shopping trips to the park and library it's just amazing.
I'm due my second child and getting the application ready now for a year's time as I will not miss out on a slot. Thanks for being amazing Ashton Court.

I changed my daughter’s nursery to this nursery in February and she has been here for a little under 2 months but I can see a massive difference from this change. She is extremely happy at Little Pioneers Ashton Court, she loves going out to nursery and even hesitates to leave at pick up time. I can
see she loves all the activities she does at nursery and she always returns home a very happy child and I wonder why I did not start my journey with Ashton Court much earlier. I’d definitely be recommending this nursery to all my friends and colleagues. Keep the excellent work up team

My daughter started here in September 2020. Since birth she was in lockdown. She really enjoys this nursery and has developed independence, confidence and her speech is improving. For a toddler going in 1 day a week for the first 6 months, she's done really well. The staff are fantastic, energetic,
positive and have time and patience to discuss my daughter's development. Even when staff were off sick, they managed to consistently manage the care smoothly. The manager is highly professional and has gone out of her way to accommodate my daughter's needs. I feel confident and assured my little one is safe and happy as they regularly update the app and tell me what she is doing. I can tell my daughter is really well cared for when I pick her up and it's a joy to see her hair plaited so nicely when it gets messy in the day. My son however didn't enjoy it as much but that was 8 years ago which is why I was hesitant at first. I'm so glad I gave it a go. Every child is different.

Have known Ashton Court nursery for over 10 years if not longer as my teenage son used to attend and now my daughter does. I have always loved the staff they are truly amazing, the last month has been very difficult for my family and Ashton Court have been so supportive, their attention to detail with
my daughter, I couldn't ask for anything more or better. I love the daily information I get each day, my daughter laughs, never hear she has not been happy and as a busy mother that keeps me at ease throughout the day. She loves nursery and seeing all the ladies there, loves eating and sleeping and when thinking about nurseries for my daughter I didn't hesitate. I knew Ashton Court was going to be the place for her and most of the staff who looked after my son are there so we get a warm welcome even after over a decade of not being in attendance after my son left to attend school. This will always be our nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.607)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.607) out of 10 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.617 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.617
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.99 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Ashton Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 number of registered child places is 10.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.49
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
