Bright Kids At Northfield in South Birmingham was established in 2004 when the two adjacent spacious semi-detached Victorian houses were fully renovated to provide ample space for children to learn and play in their small homely age group. The nursery is well-positioned close to local schools and amenities.

The nursery has an excellent outdoor play space with defined areas for climbing, growing, and creative play in addition to the traditional hard-play surfaces. This 'all-weather' outdoor area ensures access is possible all year round. With a mini-forest school planned for the future, this will become a 'natural haven' for the nursery children within the city.

With a philosophy of learning through play, children work and play together in small groups to develop skills and knowledge to become independent learners for life. Working with the new Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum under the guidance of their own fully qualified Early Years Professional.

My son has been at this nursery since November 2018 and has settled so quickly despite only doing two days per week. The biggest factor in this is the staff in the sunbeams/discoveries room. They ensured he was happy and well cared for straight away and within a couple of weeks, was bolting through
the door. The manager runs the nursery very well and responds to any questions/queries raised promptly and efficiently.

Both my children have attended Bright Kids and both have progressed greatly and love coming to nursery. The staff are lovely and are very good at communicating and interacting about their day and checking in how that have been on days off.
The events days and special occasions are always celebrated
well and always 100% effort put in to celebrate/marking the occasion.

We have been to Stay and Play here since my son was five weeks old and he is now one. The nursery is always clean and inviting. The staff are always friendly and approachable. Lots of different activities and toys for the children to play with. Thank you for all your hard work.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming. My daughter feels so comfortable where she’s playing and who with. She’s come on so much from attending this nursery with her speech and confidence. All the staff have made this happen!! Amazing team.

It was very important to find an outstanding, patient and caring nursery for my twins. Especially with their learning difficulties. So happy I chose Bright Kids. The staff have been tremendously supportive with their needs, focusing on all the areas they are delayed in or struggle with. Within one
year the twins have made huge progress, especially with their social and communication. They are very attentive in assessing them every 3 months & keeping a logbook highlighting (next steps) would recommend to anyone looking for a nursery with staff that cares about your child’s educational growth.

An amazing nursery with staff who are excellent with every child. Since my son has started his development has thrived and for this, I can only thank the staff. My daughter settled straight away in Bright Kids at Northfield. After being at a different nursery beforehand for a year, she wasn’t settled hence why we moved her.. it was a very happy moment seeing her comfortable.

My daughter is now 2 and a half and has been attending Bright Kids since she was 6 months old. She loves attending nursery and is always happy when picked up at the end of the day! Brilliant nursery. My daughter has developed very well since starting Bright Kids at Northfield.
She is always very happy when going to nursery and tells me about her day when she gets home. They do very good activities and help the children learn to a good standard. They do good meals for everyone

My son has been attending Bright Kids for just over 2 years, but since September he has become a different little boy, he has learnt so much but has improved his development dramatically. The nursery staff are amazing! They put together such a variety of activities that all the children are busy all
day and each child is involved. Recently they have grown cress which they loved watching grow, made a wormery and bird feeders. There is something new every day. There is so much to say about this nursery, they are interested in each child individually and cater for specific needs, my child is autistic and nursery have put plans in place, called in outside resources and worked closely with him to help improve his skills, they have helped him so much so that he is ready for school, I never thought he ever would be but with the nursery's help he is. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a friendly, caring, professional nursery to care for their child. My son loves it here!!

Bright Kids is a very good nursery. My Child started at the nursery when he was only 3 months old. The staff have taken good care of him since. The nursery is very clean and the staff are very caring and approachable. I always get a daily report about how my son's day has been and they always let me
know if they have any concerns. There are also toys and activities he can engage in the while in the room which keeps him occupied. Would recommend it.

This nursery has a great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and really helpful. There is lots for the children to do and learn so much. My son enjoys going and found it very hard to talk to new people until he started here. My son has learnt so much and has come a very long way since he started

I'm really happy with the care provided. My son has a great relationship with two of the girls specifically, they have supported him with his additional needs and have helped him develop to an adequate level for his age. 100% this is a brilliant supportive friendly environment for children. The environment

I couldn't of picked a better nursery for my daughter! The staff are all amazing and had a great relationship with my daughter, she knew all the staff by name and was never afraid to approach them which is so important!


They really got to know my daughter and encouraged her interests (and the

garden is amazing which was very important to her!). In all of the time she spent there I can honestly says I didn't have any problems.


I would highly recommend this nursery to everybody!

Janette Moran

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2014

I began my career in 1992 when I became a parent volunteer in a nursery school. I’ve progressed to gaining my qualifications in childcare as well as education starting in 1996. In October 2013 I gained my BA Hons and in addition in February 2014 I qualified as an Early Years Teacher Status. I have collectively worked in both childcare and education for 26 years as well as raising my own four children. I’ve currently have thirteen grandchildren.


I immensely enjoy working with children and families and feel I have a lot of experience and knowledge to share. I’m really enjoying my time here at the Bright Kids Nursery Northfield where I can work alongside my team to ensure children in our care have the best possible childcare and education in a play based curriculum to support the children’s progression into school and build on their life skills.


The bright sunny rooms with stimulating activities encourage our children to be independent, critical thinkers, creative and challenge their skills and development. I am proud to be part of the Bright Kids Team.

Kerrie McCaffery

I started my career at Bright Kids Nursery Northfield as a student in June 2005. In 2006 when I qualified as Level 3 in childcare I was employed as club staff and Nursery Nurse. My career progressed to Room Leader and then to Senior Nursery Nurse.


Becoming Deputy Manager in 2014, I fully enjoy my role, and have achieved many childcare related qualifications.


I love being a mom to my two children and enjoy working with children and their families, supporting them and watching their children grow and develop.


As a long-standing member of the Bright Kids team I am very proud of what I and also what we have achieved here at Bright Kids Northfield.
