Bright Kids At Northfield in South Birmingham was established in 2004 when the two adjacent spacious semi-detached Victorian houses were fully renovated to provide ample space for children to learn and play in their small homely age group. The nursery is well-positioned close to local schools and amenities.

The nursery has an excellent outdoor play space with defined areas for climbing, growing, and creative play in addition to the traditional hard-play surfaces. This 'all-weather' outdoor area ensures access is possible all year round. With a mini-forest school planned for the future, this will become a 'natural haven' for the nursery children within the city.

With a philosophy of learning through play, children work and play together in small groups to develop skills and knowledge to become independent learners for life. Working with the new Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum under the guidance of their own fully qualified Early Years Professional.

My son has attended Bright Kids for a couple of years now and I can’t praise them enough! I searched around many nurseries before finding Bright Kids and they were the only nursery I felt comfortable leaving my boy at. My youngest is also due to start there soon and I know he will be fine, as all the
staff are great and the nursery itself is beautiful. Highly recommended!

You will struggle to find a better nursery.


We were beyond impressed with everything they did for us. We were greeted everyday with positive, professional and hardworking staff, who went above and beyond. Our daughter required additional support with her walking and this was provided without hesitation,

in abundance.


They created a safe, fun and educational environment that helped our girl confidently make many wonderful friends and helped prepare her for school. We will miss everyone dearly.

Our daughter has really come out of her since attending Bright Kids Northfield. The staff are lovely and welcoming and always look after our little girl. It's nice knowing she is in safe hands and having a good time.

It’s such a big deal when your choose what nursery your child should go to. It’s the first time leaving them with what at that time are people unknown to them. It’s a big adjustment for all involved! We went to visit Bright Kids and my son took to it straight away. After a short while of being in the
room, he was offered if he wanted to stay with the children and have a snack with them. He agreed and sat with the children. We went to carry on our tour and then went into the office to speak about possible start dates etc. We expected our son to be about five minutes before wanting us. The door went and it still wasn’t him! Twenty minutes later we had to go and collect him. This spoke volumes for us. Our son has become so much more confident and now our second son attends the setting. The staff are so good with them and it’s a lovely place.

Fantastic experience, both children really enjoy the nursery. They have both attended this nursery for 2+ years now. Staff are very polite, always smiling and show our children lots of love.
Educational level is great, the nursery have supported both of the children with their communication skills,
teamwork and friendships. Children are very confident in what they do and have built amazing friendships within the nursery setting.
The nursery cares to create amazing activities to support children with their vital skills ready for school.

Overall, we are very happy with Bright Kids, Northfield. The level of care, activities they do and the relationships they build with the children are all excellent. We feel our child has greatly benefitted from his time there, equipping him with the skills to interact with his peers and staff/adults
alike. My only negative is that they are more expensive than other nurseries, however, peace of mind we have with him being there means it's a price we are happy to pay.

This is truly a spectacular nursery. My daughter who was born prem during Covid had a lot of time with me and her father at home. As a result, she became very clingy and found separation extremely difficult to cope with. I tried another nursery before this one and I found they did not listen to my child's
needs and she was treated just like another number in the group of children.
Bright Kids is not like that at all. Two members of staff in the Investigators room made a lot of effort to get to know my child, familiarise with her ways and truly give the one-to-one attention needed to help her adjust to this important step in her life. The staff are stable so it's not a different face every time. The member of staff who has recently joined the Investigator's room is equally as attentive and makes effort to understand each child individually.
The resources and toys for the children are great - not just cheap bright plastic toys everywhere. Overall a fantastic place, I wouldn't look anywhere else.

My son started recently and after only a few visits he has settled and I do believe this is due to the staff, they all have been great and taken time to get to know him as an individual and I as a parent feel confident in the care he is receiving.

My son has been attending Bright Kids Since February 2022 and he has loved every day he has spent there. All the staff are very warm, friendly and welcoming, they are also extremely good with the children. My son struggled for a while to get used to being with other children and he got nothing but pure

Staff are very welcoming and always try to make children feel loved.
Activities are appropriate for their age and they have good routines so children know what is happening.
There is an app to keep you up to date at the end of the day so you know what your child has done, with pictures. Unfortunately,
the information you receive is very inconsistent and not all elements are filled out. Depending who has written the observation the detail can be poor to very informative.

Great staff and facilities. The children are cared for well.
Think the menu should be put online as the new app does not tell me anything about what my child has eaten only if it was most, some or none.
The staff also agree that sometimes the meals are not simple enough and some children just don't
want it.
A negative would be the price per day is extortionate compared to the average nursery price. It is even more expensive than places like London or Leamington.
For this price you would expect the staff to be on a much higher wage and for the children to have nappies provided.

I can't recommend this nursery enough. Both my children have been to and are currently at this nursery.
My youngest has progressed so much since starting. The staff are amazing and really caring towards the children and their development.
There's so much for the children to explore and to enhance

Bright Kids have looked after my children for a total of four years now and I'm pleased to have found a nursery whose staff are warm, friendly and professional.
The setting is well equipped with plenty of natural toys/resources and both my children loved/love it there.
The boys' key workers in particular
really genuinely care, it's what I love about the nursery the most.

Fantastic early years practitioners. The setting is very well equipped with exciting learning activities that my child enjoys and has really helped with his development. Facilities indoors include stationed areas to give children the ability to free play and explore, using around the home products which
gives them great awareness around safety and daily home activities as well as other play items suitable for their age groups and taste. My child has needed a little extra support and the management and key workers have kept me informed about everything and he has come a long way in such a short time. They often have events to include parents in the nursery setting which gives a great insight into my child's life when I am not there and to also get to know the early years practitioners who all seem fantastic.

My two boys are extremely well looked after and are so happy at the nursery. I have great communication with staff, I am listened to and always informed of how their day has been. The nursery is clean and fully equipped with all learning and playing toys possible. Their activities are well structured
and suited to my boy's development level and higher, to challenge them. My boys really thrive at Bright Kids.

My daughter has been attending Bright kids since April last year and she’s loved every moment. The staff are all lovely and very nurturing. They've helped my daughter's speech come on massively and really took her under their wing when she first started and was incredibly shy. Because of them she’s

For the past 4 years, Bright Kids nursery has been a second home to our child and an absolute godsend to us as parents! To put your trust into other people to help raise and guide your child really is the hardest choice to do but all the staff made it so easy and put our minds at rest. Our child has
now reached school age otherwise I'd keep her here! The staff are all friendly, approachable, and professional. The nursery is always clean and hygienic. There is a great range of facilities and resources available for all ages and most of all the children are always happy! And to us, that speaks volumes! You can't put a price on your child's happiness.

Janette Moran

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2014

I began my career in 1992 when I became a parent volunteer in a nursery school. I’ve progressed to gaining my qualifications in childcare as well as education starting in 1996. In October 2013 I gained my BA Hons and in addition in February 2014 I qualified as an Early Years Teacher Status. I have collectively worked in both childcare and education for 26 years as well as raising my own four children. I’ve currently have thirteen grandchildren.


I immensely enjoy working with children and families and feel I have a lot of experience and knowledge to share. I’m really enjoying my time here at the Bright Kids Nursery Northfield where I can work alongside my team to ensure children in our care have the best possible childcare and education in a play based curriculum to support the children’s progression into school and build on their life skills.


The bright sunny rooms with stimulating activities encourage our children to be independent, critical thinkers, creative and challenge their skills and development. I am proud to be part of the Bright Kids Team.

Kerrie McCaffery

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2005

I started my career at Bright Kids Nursery Northfield as a student in June 2005. In 2006 when I qualified as Level 3 in childcare I was employed as club staff and Nursery Nurse. My career progressed to Room Leader and then to Senior Nursery Nurse.


Becoming Deputy Manager in 2014, I fully enjoy my role, and have achieved many childcare related qualifications.


I love being a mom to my two children and enjoy working with children and their families, supporting them and watching their children grow and develop.


As a long-standing member of the Bright Kids team I am very proud of what I and also what we have achieved here at Bright Kids Northfield.
