Bright Kids At Northfield in South Birmingham was established in 2004 when the two adjacent spacious semi-detached Victorian houses were fully renovated to provide ample space for children to learn and play in their small homely age group. The nursery is well-positioned close to local schools and amenities.

The nursery has an excellent outdoor play space with defined areas for climbing, growing, and creative play in addition to the traditional hard-play surfaces. This 'all-weather' outdoor area ensures access is possible all year round. With a mini-forest school planned for the future, this will become a 'natural haven' for the nursery children within the city.

With a philosophy of learning through play, children work and play together in small groups to develop skills and knowledge to become independent learners for life. Working with the new Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum under the guidance of their own fully qualified Early Years Professional.

My boys have been coming to Bright Kids for just over 2 years now. They absolutely love it!. They adore the staff who are completely brilliant with them! They've handled sensitive situations with such care and have really helped my sons development. My eldest son was struggling with his emotions, so
the nursery put together a plan for him to help him express himself, such as the emotions game, and included the other children so he never felt singled out.
The nursery itself has different activities every day for them to do, quiet areas, a lovely space outside, and lots of different themed activities. Play with their friends, the staff and individually encouraged. The nursery follows the curiosity approach, using things you would find around the house etc for play, which gives a brilliant balance compared to the toys we have at home. The children are always provided with healthy snacks and meals, and the staff always give a handover about their day, what they've done and eaten.

Two of my children have attended here so far and so will my youngest. Friendly and approachable staff, especially the Deputy Manager. My children loved coming here, they have made lots of friends, there are lots of varied activities for them to do and the staff are so caring. I was always welcomed
to call and see how they were getting on.

My daughter has been at Bright Kids since she was around 1 year old and now she is sadly approaching the end of her time at nursery. I absolutely love the setting at Bright Kids and it is wonderful to hear about the unusual things she gets up to every day. The curiosity approach seems to suit my daughter
and I would highly recommend Bright Kids. I also have a son who attends and I am excited for him to continue his journey as I have seen the benefits first hand. All of the staff are lovely and approachable and I found them to be very welcoming to all of us as a family.

My daughter is coming to the end of her time at bright kids and it's been an amazing 4 years. She has developed so well over the last 4 years and this is all down to you guys. You treat everyone like family and go above and beyond. Even throughout the difficult times, we have had with covid, the nursery
has still been there supporting us families. My daughter will miss everyone especially her keyworkers. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for future families.

I could not recommend this nursery enough. My niece has attended now for 2 years and she started out really shy and the amazing friendly staff there really supported her, brought her out of her shell and her confidence is now amazing! The staff are so approachable and friendly and are so good with the
kids, nothing is ever too much to ask of them. They also put on lovely fun days which are great!

Very friendly staff. My daughter has always been happy there. She was there for the whole of the pandemic and only a few weeks before it started so it has been a particularly challenging period handled very well by the nursery. They keep us up to date on progress regularly.

Fantastic nursery! Would highly recommend. Our son has attended since he was 8 months old. The staff have always been wonderful with him and he has enjoyed walking into nursery everyday since.

It has been a pleasure for my daughter to come into the Bright Kids nursery. The staff have given my daughter a better future. The staff are excellent and it's a friendly place to be. Not only have they helped my daughter, but both of us. She is now in reception and very confident and getting involved

The staff and management team at Bright Kids nursery have always been very supportive and have helped my daughter settle into nursery life. My daughter has settled in very quickly and gets excited each morning when walking into Bright Kids nursery. I believe she is one of if not the youngest baby in attendance and am impressed by how they involve her in all of the activities they do each day. Her independence has improved massively and
it's lovely to see how she is getting on through the online pictures. The staff are very friendly and I felt very comfortable leaving my daughter in their care when anxiously returning to work.

I love Bright Kids. The staff there are wonderful my eldest 2 went there who are now doing fabulous at school, now my youngest 2 are there. So I have had around 3 years experience with the nursery. They are fabulous. My children even do role play at home about the teachers and children which is lovely
to see. I would highly recommend Bright Kids.

Bright Kids is an outstanding nursery setting with many different facilities for the children to interact with.
My son enjoys going to nursery as he is very excited every time he has to go and all the children and staff in his class are very friendly by making him feel very welcome.
I have noticed
a big change in my son's development as he comes home being able to expand on his counting, alphabet and speech.
He has also adapted to potty training a lot better now thanks to the staff at Bright Kids, so I am very pleased with this nursery setting and will continue to spread the good word by recommending to other friends and family who have children.

Janette Moran

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2014

I began my career in 1992 when I became a parent volunteer in a nursery school. I’ve progressed to gaining my qualifications in childcare as well as education starting in 1996. In October 2013 I gained my BA Hons and in addition in February 2014 I qualified as an Early Years Teacher Status. I have collectively worked in both childcare and education for 26 years as well as raising my own four children. I’ve currently have thirteen grandchildren.


I immensely enjoy working with children and families and feel I have a lot of experience and knowledge to share. I’m really enjoying my time here at the Bright Kids Nursery Northfield where I can work alongside my team to ensure children in our care have the best possible childcare and education in a play based curriculum to support the children’s progression into school and build on their life skills.


The bright sunny rooms with stimulating activities encourage our children to be independent, critical thinkers, creative and challenge their skills and development. I am proud to be part of the Bright Kids Team.

Kerrie McCaffery

I started my career at Bright Kids Nursery Northfield as a student in June 2005. In 2006 when I qualified as Level 3 in childcare I was employed as club staff and Nursery Nurse. My career progressed to Room Leader and then to Senior Nursery Nurse.


Becoming Deputy Manager in 2014, I fully enjoy my role, and have achieved many childcare related qualifications.


I love being a mom to my two children and enjoy working with children and their families, supporting them and watching their children grow and develop.


As a long-standing member of the Bright Kids team I am very proud of what I and also what we have achieved here at Bright Kids Northfield.
