Springthorpe is a large nursery located between Erdington and Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham. The nursery provides childcare and early years education for children aged 0-5 years.

At Springthorpe, they understand that choosing a nursery is a task that parents want to be as simple as possible. They believe in creating calming, safe, and playful settings through an open-ended approach to early years learning.

The staff plan rich, varied, and imaginative activities which are tailored to each child’s interests and curiosities. The bespoke garden area has been designed in such a way that children can’t help but want to get outdoors (come rain or shine) and stretch those little legs.

Minimum sessions for children aged 0-3 years:
Children aged 0-3 years may only book full-day sessions. We do not offer half-day sessions to children aged 0-3 years. The minimum number of sessions for children aged 0-3 years is two full days per week. If you book less than three full days, one of those days must be either a Monday or Friday.

Apprehensive to leave my son on his first day of nursery, not only me, but my son didn't want to leave me either. Not knowing the staff didn't make it any easier. However, on the first day, the moment we walked through the door, the staff made us both comfortable, to the point my son didn't look back
at me, and I had no concerns about where I left him. I called several times on his first day to check how he was, each and every time, the staff were happy to talk to me and give me an update, and at no point did they get frustrated, kept giving me verbal reassurance, and I could sense happiness in their voices. I remember being a child, many years ago, crying as I didn't want to go to nursery, my son, on the other hand, asks when he can return and play with his friends; he tells me stories about his teachers and other children. I would highly recommend this nursery, and my next child will also be going here.

Great nursery with great staff. My son loves to go there, not even one cry. Lots of activities with kids that teach them. Good communication with them, daily updates and friendly management. Highly recommended.

My daughter started this nursery in April. She has a good relationship with the staff. The manager is fantastic; she is very welcoming and very helpful. My daughter loves outdoor play. I am very happy with the activities provided too. The nursery is clean and tidy. The environment is very welcoming.
I would recommend this nursery to all new parents.

My little boy has recently started at this nursery. He has struggled with the transition of starting nursery in general, but the staff are amazing. They are always reassuring to myself and my boy, which gives me peace of mind.
The garden facilities are his favourite, and I love how they have them
playing outdoors as much as possible.

My daughter started nursery in September 2021. Amazing staff. I totally can trust the keyworker and manager; they beautifully welcomed my daughter to the nursery. So professional and supportive. I myself work with children, and it was very difficult to leave my child, but with my child's keyworker being
so supportive and the manager being so understanding, I can leave my child at the nursery without any fear.

Springthorpe Day Nursery & Pre-school have recently taken over. The staff remain the same, which has made things easier for the transition as a trustworthy relationship has already been built with staff. My child still seems very happy to attend the nursey. If I have any concerns, staff are very quick

My child's childcare in Springthorpe is absolutely amazing. The staff are always very welcoming, professional, and my daughter looks forward to going to the nursey. They have all facilities for children, and the staff are very supportive in developing my child, informing me on her day to day activities
and how to best support her at home. Very pleased by the day centre and can't recommend it enough.

My daughter recently started here after transferring from another nursery.
The staff and the facilities at the nursery have been amazing for my daughter's settlement.

Thank you for taking the time to discover Springthorpe Day Nursery. My name is Lucinda Rumble (call me Lou), and I'm the Nursery Manager here. I have more than 20+ years' experience in early education and am a Mum of three myself.


Since earning my childcare qualifications in 1999, I've spent my career creating learning environments where every child feels seen, nurtured, and encouraged. I believe I bring a wealth of leadership to the team here, having spent more than 15 years as a Nursery Manager.


I joined Tommies because our ethos here matches my own. We focus on warm relationships with families, provide thoughtful care for the children entrusted to us, and create purposeful learning opportunities through play that develop confidence and independence.
