Springthorpe is a large nursery located between Erdington and Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham. The nursery provides childcare and early years education for children aged 0-5 years.

At Springthorpe, they understand that choosing a nursery is a task that parents want to be as simple as possible. That’s why the passionate team are here to help you make the best choice for your child’s early education. They believe in creating calming, safe, and playful settings through an open-ended approach to early years learning.

The staff plan rich, varied, and imaginative activities which are tailored to each child’s interests and curiosities. The bespoke garden area has been designed in such a way that children can’t help but want to get outdoors (come rain or shine) and stretch those little legs.

    Children aged 0-3 years may only book full-day sessions. We do not offer half-day sessions to children aged 0-3 years. The minimum number of sessions for children aged 0-3 years is two full days per week. If you book less than three full days, one of those days must be either a Monday or Friday.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since April, and for the short time she has been there, she absolutely loves it here. Myself as a parent, I am so pleased with the nursery and cannot fault a thing. All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and always approachable for chat. I am constantly updated
with what my daughter eats, when she sleeps and what activities she does in the day via the app. She has come on leaps and bounds with her confidence since attending the nursery, and I have total peace of mind when she is there. We are encouraged as parents to be involved with our childs development, with monthly activities to do at home, and we are asked to submit information on what our children do outside of nursery. I honestly cannot think of a single bad word to say.

Management behaviour and attitude are greedy and disgusting. Springthorpe kept refusing entry for my child and requested PCR test results, even if she was not ill. Staff didn't do as much as at least measure her temperature, instead kept refusing her entry from day to day while I saw other kids walking
into the nursery with a severe cough. After contacting DfE and finding out no nursery is allowed to request PCRs for toddlers, the manager started to lie saying she never requested a PCR test.
At the top of this, I paid full month fees and stop bringing my child as the manager wouldn't let her in. A month later she was cheeky enough to call me to request another month's payment, as an excuse I was told I didn't give notice in writing, but at the same time in 1 month's time nobody even called to ask if the child is alright, if she's coming back or how she's doing, I received a phone call only when they were after money. I feel disgusted remembering this awful experience. Avoid this place!

Staff are always very friendly. My son has struggled with being upset going, but they have really looked after. He looks forward to going now, which I didn’t think would happen, but that is all down to how reassuring and wonderful the staff are. The app is excellent as we get updates throughout the

I would highly recommend this nursery. Both my two older children attended the nursery, and 10-years later, when I had my youngest, I still chose nursery. After looking at several different nurseries, I still found this one was the best.

Apprehensive to leave my son on his first day of nursery, not only me, but my son didn't want to leave me either. Not knowing the staff didn't make it any easier. However, on the first day, the moment we walked through the door, the staff made us both comfortable, to the point my son didn't look back
at me, and I had no concerns about where I left him. I called several times on his first day to check how he was, each and every time, the staff were happy to talk to me and give me an update, and at no point did they get frustrated, kept giving me verbal reassurance, and I could sense happiness in their voices. I remember being a child, many years ago, crying as I didn't want to go to nursery, my son, on the other hand, asks when he can return and play with his friends; he tells me stories about his teachers and other children. I would highly recommend this nursery, and my next child will also be going here.

My daughter started this nursery in April. She has a good relationship with the staff. The manager is fantastic; she is very welcoming and very helpful. My daughter loves outdoor play. I am very happy with the activities provided too. The nursery is clean and tidy. The environment is very welcoming.

My little boy has recently started at this nursery. He has struggled with the transition of starting nursery in general, but the staff are amazing. They are always reassuring to myself and my boy, which gives me peace of mind.
The garden facilities are his favourite, and I love how they have them

My daughter started nursery in September 2021. Amazing staff. I totally can trust the keyworker and manager; they beautifully welcomed my daughter to the nursery. So professional and supportive. I myself work with children, and it was very difficult to leave my child, but with my child's keyworker being
so supportive and the manager being so understanding, I can leave my child at the nursery without any fear.

Springthorpe Day Nursery & Pre-school have recently taken over. The staff remain the same, which has made things easier for the transition as a trustworthy relationship has already been built with staff. My child still seems very happy to attend the nursey. My name is Lucinda and I am delighted to be the Nursery Manager here at Springthorpe Day Nursery.


I have been working with children for more than 23 years and have 3 children of my own: Dylan, James and Millie.


After achieving my qualification in Early Years, all the way back in 1999, I was inspired to further my passion and enthusiasm for watching young children flourish and grow within a nurturing, home-from-home environment, which I was part of creating.


I joined Springthorpe with a wealth of experience, including 14 years as a Nursery Manager. Working with a company which has the same ethos and drive for creating an environment for your children as I do is an exciting adventure for me. I am looking forward to building relationships and working in partnership with you and your children.

My name is Bilal Iqbal and I joined Tommies Childcare in March 2024, where I am the Deputy Manager at Springthorpe Day Nursery.


I started my childcare journey as an apprentice. It began with a fervent curiosity about how children learn and grow, which led me to achieve my Level 3 qualification in Childcare and then work my way up to my new role as Deputy Manager. In this time, I have not only come to develop my passion for childcare but also my love for child development. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with children of diverse backgrounds, abilities and temperaments, honing my skills in fostering their social, emotional and cognitive development.


As Deputy Manager, I am committed to supporting families, empowering staff, and sharing my values such as believing every child is unique and deserves to be respected and encouraged to explore the world around them.
