Cotton Tails Day Nursery provides private day care for children 0-5 years old. The nursery is open Mon – Fri, 7.30am - 6pm, 52 weeks of the year excluding bank holidays.

Cotton Tails has been rated OUTSTANDING in its last three Ofsted reports. Staff pride themselves on providing a caring and safe environment that treats every child as an individual, balancing play and learning and helping them to develop to their full potential.

Cotton Tails Nursery has been open since August 1996, originally a much smaller premises, but with the demand of the childcare sector Cotton Tails has grown over the past years. In January 2013, it opened its doors to a whole new wing, now complete with extensive bright and vibrant rooms having everything available for both child and nursery practitioner.

Cotton Tails is renowned for its close parent partnership making care a complete circle, with the child in the centre.

Fantastic nursery! That good we chose the nursery for our second child. Our youngest has settled well in the first few weeks.

The staff are very welcoming to parents and children. They know the children so well and make sure that all children are cared for in the best possible way. Parents are kept informed of their children's progress and activities throughout the week, which allows us to talk with our child about her day.
My daughter has only been here just over a year but has already done so much!

Second child now attending the nursery and again cannot rate/recommend it highly enough. The staff continue to be very attentive, caring and personable. Day to day the children are engaged in a wide variety of activities and it is clear after my child's day at nursery that they are developing a great

Our son started Cotton Tails Day Nursery in June 2020, aged 1, in the height of the pandemic. From day one we were really impressed with the staff; how friendly they are and how much they knew about our son. If you pass a message on in the morning the staff know about it making it clear that they have
very good communication.
The staff seem to be very caring and personable. I thought they were amazing to have worked as hard as what they have done in such difficult circumstances in the pandemic.
We have been very impressed with the standard of learning at Cotton Tails and how much our son has and is learning.
The meals seem to be good and there are a wide range of activities for the children.
The nursery is colourful and clean.
It makes our life a lot easier knowing that our son is going to this nursery which he likes whilst we go to work.

This is a wonderful nursery. Both my children have attended and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff are fantastic and so helpful. The nursery is clean, bright and there are so many great facilities and activities for the children to do.
The SEN provision is also very good and the staff have really
gone the extra mile with my children.
Despite the limitations imposed with Covid, the care and commitment towards the children has not wavered throughout.
I cannot praise this nursery highly enough.

My son has attended Cotton Tails at Northfield since July 2020, having previously been with a childminder. I can honestly say that my son loves it there. He loves his teachers, his friends and everything they do there. He has come on leaps and bounds since attending. The staff are friendly and approachable
and always have time for you. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit and we haven't been able to go in and enjoy the regular activities with our child but the nursery have handled the situation perfectly and professionally whilst keeping the children and staff safe. I wish to thank all staff at the nursery for welcoming my son into your setting and giving him the best care and teaching possible. My only regret is not placing my son into Cotton Tails earlier than this!

I want to thank the manager and all of the staff at Cotton Tails at Northfield for all of their hard work and efforts for not only keeping my children safe, but also providing some normality whilst we all adapt to living with the pandemic.
Routine is extremely important for young children and I admire
the patience and extra efforts that have gone into continuing to make the nursery a fun and safer place to be.
The effects of this pandemic can unexpectedly be very disruptive for the nursey and parents due to a lot of external influences. I brought to the nurseries attention that I thought communications and processes between us could be a little better, and I am extremely happy to see that new measures have been introduced to make sure that we are all doing our bit in trying to keep things safe at Cotton Tails at Northfield.
Result – my children and their friends get to see, learn and play with each other every day as normal, thanks again!

My daughter joined Cotton Tails at Northfield in January 2020 and the staff there are amazing, helping my daughter with her independence. She was a clingy child but she now just walks in and waves goodbye to me. Since March 2020, the start of the first lockdown, my daughter stopped going to nursery
but I know the nursery remained open to key worker parents, making the nursery staff key workers themselves and I'd like to say a massive well done to them. Then when they re opened they put things into place: 2-metre rule, face masks, all around and what to do if your child was at nursery and became ill. None of this has appeared to effect my daughter, which is the main thing. The staff continue to give 100% despite everything going on and they have gone above and beyond to help the children be who they are today, so thank you!

I have had two children come to this nursery and I cannot praise them enough for the care they provide. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, always on hand to discuss my daughter's progress. The facilities are fantastic and the amount of activities my daughter gets to do on a day to day basis keeps

Michelle

Michelle Young

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2000

My name is Michelle Young, I am the manager at Cotton Tails Nursery. I have worked at Cotton Tails since June 2000 where I worked in the Pre-School room and then later worked in the Tinie Room which I thoroughly enjoyed.


I became the manager in 2009 which was a completely new role for me but I really enjoyed the challenge. During this time, I went on to complete my NVQ3 in Leadership and Management which has helped me in the role.


Over the years, I have grown to love my role as a manager, especially seeing all of the children grow and develop, then move on to big school.


One of my biggest aims as the manager was to maintain our OUTSTANDING Ofsted grade as it was my first Ofsted as a manager. This goal was achieved in March 2014 when we were rated OUTSTANDING for a second time. I am enjoying the challenge and enjoy working with a great team.
