I cannot fault the care of my child's key worker, who is great. Care overall is good and staff are usually friendly. However, the morning drop-offs are often chaotic with staff in the room not always acknowledging my child and seeming overwhelmed. I have also had issues being able to leave my child due to staff not being ready to receive her (the session starts at 7.30 am but staff are not always in the room by this time). Perhaps staff need to be employed 15 minutes before the session start time to allow them time to prepare?
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I am very happy that you feel you have the care and support from your Key Person. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care, learning and development at Windmill Hill so I am sorry to hear your feedback of the morning transition...
The staff are very friendly and have really helped my daughter settle in well. We like hearing how she has got on each day and the staff are helping her develop. It is a lovely nursery and my daughter is excited about coming to the nursery.
My daughter has continued to develop well and enjoys nursery. Her speech has noticeably come on since starting in the new room at age 20 months. The environment is safe and well looked after. Most pleasing overall is to staff and management who are excellent at their jobs.
Our son is enjoying his time in the Butterflies room. He has made friends since he transferred from another nursery and has been made welcome by the staff. Potty training has not been a problem, as our son has been practising at home but has been able to make the big jump into spending the majority of his days nappy free thanks to the support and patience of the room's staff.
We are very happy with how well our daughter has settled in Windmill Hill. She has been attending the nursery for just over a year now and she fully enjoyed every room she has been in. We are very impressed with the way the nursery days are structured, with lots of activities, teaching and play, confirmed by how keen our daughter is to go to nursery in the mornings and by how happy and stimulated she comes home. We would warmly recommend Windmill Hill and are very happy to have chosen this nursery for our daughter.
After finding it a little difficult to be left, our daughter has really settled into life at Windmill Hill. The staff have been excellent and helped with her development and natural desire to explore. The day meets provide give an excellent overview of the day and the online log demonstrate the range of activities they do with the children.
My daughter has been attending the nursery since 7 months old and loves it!! The staff are fantastic and care for the children so well. My daughter's interests are always met and there is always a range of activities. The nursery is easy to get to.
Couldn't wish for more. I will miss this amazing, happy place!
I think Windmill Hill Day Nursery is excellent. I leave my daughter there with complete confidence and peace of mind, knowing my daughter is well looked after and cared for.
My daughter has been at Windmill Hill since a baby and staff in all the rooms are so lovely and I can’t recommend it enough.
I’ve been extremely impressed with the preschool room with effort and activities in place getting the children prepared for school.
My daughter has flourished here and has been attending since she was 8 months old (She is now 3). The staff have always been extremely supportive, particularly during some very difficult personal circumstances.
Couldn’t recommend this nursery more. I’ve felt so happy and reassured leaving my son in the care of the staff and he is so happy to go every week, so I know he loves it too! He does an excited dance every time we pull up to the car park! The staff are all so caring and work so hard to create an amazing nursery. The settling in process is excellent, and I love how they involve parents with everything - especially the online learning journeys.
My son attended this nursery since he was 10 months old until he left for school.
During these years the nursery has made significant investments in renovating the facilities (indoor and outdoor). I had the impression that keeping the focus on this aspect may have caused that other areas (at least equally important) didn't receive all the attention they needed. This may explain why they have lost the "Outstanding" rating in their last OFSTED inspection.
Overall the nursery's service is good. However, I wouldn't recommend it over any other local nursery as I don't think it is any better or worse than most of them. Unless the location is convenient (that was my case). On the negative side, the management didn't fulfill my expectations of efficiency.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We continually invest in both our nursery environment and colleagues to ensure the children have the best facilities, resources and practitioners to enhance their learning and development.
We were disappointed to receive a Good Ofsted rating...
Windmill Hill has been an inspirational part of my daughter's life between 1-4 years of age. The nursery uses early years foundation framework to encourage and monitor progression in a child's development. This has been a key part in helping my daughter become a very independent pre-schooler, ready for the transition to school, with the right level of education through play. The management and staff at Windmill Hill Swindon are fantastic and show a huge amount of care and dedication to all children who attend, which gives comfort, knowing your child is well cared for. The nursery facilities are well maintained and invested in, creating a wonderful setting for children.
Windmill Hill Nursery has been wonderful for our daughter. She started there when she was around 7 months old and is now nearly 18 months. The staff in both rooms (Caterpillars and Ladybirds) have always shown great care and attention, they always make us as parents feel welcome, and you can see how much they genuinely care about the children they're looking after. Facilities are plentiful, well looked after, fun, and educational. I always feel like I can ask the staff anything! Our daughter absolutely loves her time here and always comes home ready for a nap but happy. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about sending their child here.
My daughter loves dancing and always seems to like the various activities they do with them.
Having used two Swindon nurseries previously for my son, I can notice a marked difference in the way this nursery performs.
My daughter is always happy and stimulated after a day at nursery, which makes it much easier for me, knowing she is settled in her surroundings.
All of the staff are happy and helpful and clearly enjoys their time with the children.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff and facilities.
With the recent addition of the 'parent zone' app, I can truly see how stimulated and engaged my daughter is every day.
I really cannot say enough positive things about Windmill Hill Swindon. From the moment my daughter started her settling-in sessions, she has loved it. The staff, facilities, the fact the majority of the toys are from natural materials, the food - everything is great. The amount my daughter has come on development-wise and in her confidence is so fantastic. The bond she has with the ladies in her room. Would recommend this highly.
We are so pleased that we chose Windmill Hill Nursery for our two-year-old twin boys since they have started there, their confidence has blossomed so much. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, from the day I was shown around this nursery stood out a mile for me. It's very clean, inviting and the facilities for the children are perfect. The garden (since the refurbishment) is great for any child who loves to be outside, my boys love the bikes and the race track.
Thank you, everyone, at windmill hill.
On the whole, it is a good nursery. Communication in the preschool room could be better. If a child is ill on drop off and you tell a staff member, it isn't always passed on to all staff. Very little information is given on pick up unless asked for. My child's key worker has shown a lot of interest in her well being which is nice to see.
