Sixpenny Day Nursery is a purpose-built, fun and exhilarating nursery for children to learn through play.

Located in Devizes, the first Sixpenny Nursery was founded in 1989 in the village of Nursteed. Having now moved to a purpose-built setting at Roundway Hill Farm in 2012, the nursery specialises in outdoor learning, play and exercise, within its beautiful, countryside location. The nursery adopts a ‘Forest School’ learning approach, where children can develop their skills uniquely, whilst encouraging conversation about the environment and the importance of appreciating the planet.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

Each room has free-flow access to the secure garden, which includes a variety of activities, such as an allotment, an outdoor mud kitchen, and sensory areas. The children are free to explore their surrounding nature, and with a special ‘undercover’ area, they can enjoy outdoor play in all weathers. There is also a farm area, where the children can feed and care for the animals, such as the nurseries very own pygmy goats.

Children are encouraged to take part in weekly music sessions, a variety of sports, cooking, and yoga, as well as participate in the nursery’s Forest School classes. These activities provide benefits for children such as increasing a child’s confidence and self-esteem through exploration, problem solving, and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment.

With the location of the countryside, the nursery is bright and airy, with plenty to keep all the children engaged, and active. There is also lots of opportunities to be outside in the fresh air, for the children to run, play, climb and cycle.

Sixpenny is an amazing nursery, all the staff are friendly and helpful as well as professional and great at what they do. My son loves his nursery days and is thriving there too. Nothing is too much for them and they're always willing to help. Iv been using sixpenny for many years for all of my children
and will always recommend the nursery to anyone that asks.

They are a fantastic company with truly wonderful staff. The team are always friendly, approachable, and incredibly supportive. They consistently keep me in the loop about everything - whether

it's upcoming events, activities happening at the nursery, or updates on how my child is progressing. I really appreciate how they let me know if my child is excelling in certain areas or if there's anything they may need a little extra support with.


The nursery itself is always clean, tidy, and well organised, which gives me great peace of mind. It's clear that the staff take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for the children.

We absolutely love Sixpenny Day Nursery and couldn't recommend it enough. My daughter attended from the age of one right through to starting school, and my son is currently there and just about to start preschool and both have always been more than accommodated.
The staff are amazing in every room,
so friendly, supportive and always going above and beyond for the children.
They put on lovely events throughout the year, which the children really enjoy, and there's always something fun and engaging happening.
Both of my children have been incredibly happy here and have grown so much during their time at Sixpenny. It truly feels like a home from home, and I always feel confident knowing my children are being well cared for.

Having twins means everything is doubledouble the joy, but also double the challenge! Even simple things like getting them in and out of the car can be tricky, but the nursery team have gone above and beyond to support us in every way. From day one, they've been amazing always ready to help, always
understanding, and always treating my babies with so much love and care.
The staff truly get to know each child as an individual, which means both of my twins are thriving in their own ways. It really feels like a home from home warm, welcoming, and full of care. I completely trust the team to look after my little ones, and that peace of mind means everything.
The food is also AMAZING varied, and freshly prepared - I'm often jealous of their meals!
I can't thank the nursery enough for the support, kindness, and genuine care they show every single day. We're so grateful to have found such an amazing place for our twins to grow.

Can't speak highly enough of this nursery. As a dad of twins, everything's double the work, but the staff here have been amazing from day one. They've been so supportive and always go out of their way to help us out.
The outside play area is brilliant loads of space and activities, and our 2 absolutely
love it. The sensory room is fantastic too, such a great space for them to explore.
Our twins are always happy going in and come home smiling every day. Sometimes they don't want to come home! :) Couldn't ask for a better place for them.

The staff at The Old Station Nursery in Devizes are simply wonderful-friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about supporting every child. From the moment we visited, it was clear how much they care about creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident, and valued.


What

really sets this nursery apart is their unique approach to learning. With outdoor spaces, woodland areas, a mud kitchen, and even pygmy goats, children have endless opportunities to explore, be curious, and engage with nature. The Forest School-inspired activities make learning exciting and hands-on, helping children develop both skills and confidence in a fun, creative way. I can't recommend this nursery highly enough!

Sixpenny is such a lovely nursery - our minds at ease from our initial tour. Our child has been in babies for a year now and absolutely loves it. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming whilst providing excellent care. The facilities are brilliant, the ongoing refurbishments are looking fabulous
and there are great outside spaces for play. We love hearing about what the children have been up to during the day, they regularly get to participate in wonderful experiences like the recent visit of exotic creatures. It also amazes us the variety of food provided by the nursery, providing real peace of mind our child is eating well.

Our daughter has settled so well into Sixpenny, I can not recommend them enough. The staff have been fantastic and have already build strong relationships with our daughter, her days are filled with lots of stimulating activities and amazing food. At the end of the day I'm given an indept handover with
everything she's been up to throughout the day.
It's such a relief to be able to go to work and know she's being so well cared for!

My son has loved coming to Sixpenny since day one. All the staff are fabulous, the food is fantastic and he comes home everyday exhausted but happy after a full day of play. The staff have really encouraged his development and learning and he has clearly formed a real bond with all of them.

I regularly collect my niece from nursery and always love coming in to find out all about her day. The activities are varied and engaging, and my niece is always so excited to tell me all about her day! The outdoor areas are outstanding and this provides the children with incredible opportunities to
learn through the world around them. The team are always helpful and friendly, giving detailed handovers about her day! I know my niece is incredibly happy at Sixpenny and we will miss it lots when she goes to school in September!

The staff are the best thing about this nursery. They provide an excellent level of care and my child is very happy here. However, since this setting has been taken over by the Old Station Nursery Group, the fees have increased significantly. This is far, far higher than other nurseries in the area
and way above inflation / other factors like NI increase etc. Sadly the funds have not been put back into the setting and the facilities are tired. Very disappointing to see what is an excellent nursery being squeezed for profits. This is unfair on the children, parents and staff.
