Sixpenny Day Nursery is a purpose-built, fun and exhilarating nursery for children to learn through play.

Located in Devizes, the first Sixpenny Nursery was founded in 1989 in the village of Nursteed. Having now moved to a purpose-built setting at Roundway Hill Farm in 2012, the nursery specialises in outdoor learning, play and exercise, within its beautiful, countryside location. The nursery adopts a ‘Forest School’ learning approach, where children can develop their skills uniquely, whilst encouraging conversation about the environment and the importance of appreciating the planet.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

Each room has free-flow access to the secure garden, which includes a variety of activities, such as an allotment, an outdoor mud kitchen, and sensory areas. The children are free to explore their surrounding nature, and with a special ‘undercover’ area, they can enjoy outdoor play in all weathers. There is also a farm area, where the children can feed and care for the animals, such as the nurseries very own pygmy goats.

Children are encouraged to take part in weekly music sessions, a variety of sports, cooking, and yoga, as well as participate in the nursery’s Forest School classes. These activities provide benefits for children such as increasing a child’s confidence and self-esteem through exploration, problem solving, and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment.

With the location of the countryside, the nursery is bright and airy, with plenty to keep all the children engaged, and active. There is also lots of opportunities to be outside in the fresh air, for the children to run, play, climb and cycle.

Sixpenny is such a wonderful nursery. We have been Sixpenny parents since 2018 and the experience has been great for both our children. Right from the start in babies through to starting school the staff have always shown the highest level of care and attention to the children. Each day we have a full
handover of what they have been doing during the day, including what they have eaten and napped. This makes us feel fully involved. We also receive photos and videos of activities during the day. Both my children have been very happy during there time here and have made great relationships with all the staff.

I would thoroughly recommend Sixpenny nursery to anyone looking at nurseries. My daughter has extra sensory and food needs and they cater to her beautifully. She always has such a happy time there she doesn't really want to leave when I pick her up. They have brilliant outside space and go outside every
day if they can. They also have a wonderful sensory room. There are always planned activities the children can take part in, but often my daughter isn't interested in these and they happily leave her to play if she prefers this.

I was so nervous and worried about sending my little boy to nursery but the ladies at Sixpenny made all of my worries go away - they reassured me that his comfort would be a priority and all of his needs would be met and they have absolutely done this! My little boy had the best time at nursery now
and always has a smile on his face. They have built an amazing and trusting relationship with not only my son but with myself and my partner as parents too.
The activities they get up to on a daily basis and the photos and updates we receive daily about what our son gets up to keeps my nerves at bay and gives me reassurance that he is having a great day and enjoying himself just as much as we knew he would.
Every single staff member at Sixpenny is so warm, welcoming and kind. I'm really glad we chose this nursery and we would 100% choose it again for future children.

A lovely setting - I was anxious about sending my twins to a nursery especially as one has additional needs but I couldn't have asked for anywhere better. Incredibly inclusive, well managed and very organised SEN support. They also helped with transition to school. Highly recommend.

The one of the best nurseries in Devizes! Well run - always good communication in person and through the apps, clean, safe, varied activities every day, hot homecooked meals made on site and lots of outdoor spaces including a large meadow and woods (used for forest school as well) and can drop as early
at 7.30am which is very useful when you have a meeting at 8am! Worth the money.

Sixpenny is the most wonderful nursery. Our son has been there since he was 14 months and he's now nearly 3. Over the last 12 months, he's had the most amazing time in Toddlers. The team have been so kind and caring and he's absolutely thrived there. He's recently started in Rising 3s and I know he
will also have a fantastic time there. Every member of staff is lovely and knowledgeable. The management team are fantastic too, always greeting you with a smile and knowing the children well. I would totally recommend Sixpenny.

The experience we have received has been amazing for our daughter, the staff go above and beyond to ensure the children are happy and content in a safe environment. The settling-in process was reassuring and comforting for us both as new parents. Every day we receive the best feedback at the end of
