Yew Trees Nursery in Axbridge is surrounded by fields and countryside in rural Somerset.

The staff offer children a safe, happy and nurturing environment. Classrooms provide cosy corners, stimulating resources and areas for children to explore and learn within their individual capabilities and at their own pace. The outdoor environment comprises of garden areas and meadows where the children can enjoy growing and cultivating plants and vegetables, help to look after the chickens, explore nature and gain an interest in the world around them.

Yew Trees Nursery prides itself on developing strong, curious, confident and unique children. They believe that being willing to ‘have a go’ and learn from mistakes will give the children a head start in learning.

My son recently finished his time at Yew Trees, and we were so sad to see him leave. He had a very difficult two years at the start due to his health, and the nursery was amazingly supportive and accommodating throughout. My little girl has now been there for 18 months, and she has progressed so well.
She was extremely attached to me, and her key worker in the baby room went above and beyond to help her settle and make me feel at ease. The staff are friendly and welcome each child into the setting at the start of the day. Information on what they've been up to is shared on the app, and it's lovely to get updates and see pictures of their daily activities. A real positive of Yew Trees is the setting. Children spend a lot of time outside exploring and doing lots of forestry-style activities, which is great. Overall, a wonderful nursery with great staff and management.

Yew Trees is a great nursery, and both of our children have thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Our eldest joined the baby room and went through to preschool with our youngest being partway through the same journey. The staff are great, the setting is amazing, and the activities that our children enjoy
are brilliant. They have both enjoyed every day, particularly the variety of things they do on a daily basis. The meals are excellent, and it's a real comfort to know that our children are well-nourished. It can be difficult leaving your children anywhere whilst going to work, but Yew Trees has always been a place that they enjoy going to, which makes the decision so much easier. Both of our two have formed very close bonds with their key workers and other staff, and they are really caring. Our daughter barely looks back as she marches in happily every morning, which is a great sign in our eyes!

Our two children have been in Toddlers and Pre-school and we honestly could not speak more highly of all the team at Yew Trees. Every day they offer so many fun, creative and imaginary play ideas- inside and out; from walks in the fields, exploring wildlife, painting, reading, exercise and more. The
food that is cooked on site is also incredible and it amazes me what they have been eating. All the staff have been so caring and kind, they really are the best! Every day there is an app that you can access showing you all the different things they have been doing with photos and links to their learning. As the time for preparing to school came nearer they offered more focused learning and support with transitioning from nursery to school which was fantastic.

The staff were amazing. Really built relationships with my son and the other children. So much fun was had by him and he has learnt masses as well. The app was updated daily with all the information you would need.

Yew Trees Nursery has been such an amazing business to deal with since day one. The staff genuinely care about the children, their development and their general well being. I was a first-time mum going back to full-time work when my son was 9-months-old, terrified which was an understatement, but this
has been such an amazing experience for my son and myself, he has come on leaps and bounds.


My son's key worker has just been amazing. I feel she is part of the family, she knows my son as much as myself and my partner do, she knows when something isn't right and will contact me straight away.


The only downfall to this set-up is I feel there isn't any lenience with contracted hours when children are poorly, we had an incident recently when my son was sent home with a cough to be tested for Covid (totally understand the caution), but as I had to wait for the results for 24-hours, I still was charged for the day the following day, this was disappointing.


Overall, I would highly recommend it!

Our daughter settled into Yew Trees straight away thanks to their warm, caring and fun approach. She loves it there. Staff are always friendly and accommodate extra days where they can. It really is a great nursery.

The baby room is fantastic. All the staff are sensible and extremely caring. They stick to your routines and adapt when this changes. Every day holds something different to stimulate and encourage learning/fun with the babies. They are kept clean and changed regularly and my son absolutely loved it
here. Only leaving as moving house. Best nursery around! The outdoor space is fantastic and I love that kids go outside regularly!

Where do I start with Yew Trees? My son started there from 9 months old as soon as I went back to work. He now has started school 2 weeks ago and he's getting on great and a lot of that is due to Yew Trees. The staff are amazing and just make you feel so welcome and in the 4 years that my son has been
there he's absolutely loved it and everyone there. He's learned so much and is so confident. Also through lockdown, they accommodated so well for him as me and my husband are key workers. If anyone is thinking of going to Yew Trees you will not regret it at all. Also, he will mostly eat anything now and that's all down to the delicious meals he was having.

Yew trees Nursery has been the most amazing place for my 2 boys over the past 7 years.
The outdoor space and learning are amazing. My youngest has just finished at Yew Trees and has loved the outdoor kitchen and all the animals. The staff at Yew Trees are so supportive and caring. My two boys have
had the same key worker in pre-school which has been fantastic. She has taught the boys so much and has encouraged their learning and to have their own personalities. I will miss Yew Trees so very much and so do my boys.

Yew Trees have been brilliant with my daughter, all through this Covid business they have supported parents and stayed open to help key workers so we could work. My daughter is so happy at nursery, they keep me updated throughout the day with how she is and if I feel I need to check on her, they always
respond straight away to say how she is. The staff are amazing, really caring, happy in their jobs and my daughter loves them. I wouldn't want anyone else to look after my daughter.

We have been so impressed with Yew Trees. Our twin boys have grown in confidence, learnt new skills and have made close friendships during the two years at the Preschool. Every day has been an adventure for them, and the range of activities on offer is immense. Their day is jam-packed with outdoor learning
such as forest school and exploration, off-site visits in the minibus and lots of craft/play development activities. The staff have been amazingly supportive and have given us detailed feedback every day about your their progress. They formed a really close and trusting relationship with their key workers who they will miss so much. We are so happy that we chose Yew Trees to begin their educational experience and we would definitely recommend it to others. We will miss it so much.

This nursery has been absolutely amazing so far for our 13-month-old. He thoroughly enjoys his time here. He had great settling sessions and the nursery was very accommodating during this uncertain time (both husband and I are key workers). Our son’s key worker is just fab. They have a great bond and
in a short space of time, his development has been phenomenal. The staff are so friendly and caring and they give a very detailed update of what he does each day. Hands down, a phenomenal experience so far!

Yew Trees has been a brilliant safe space for my child to learn and grow. In the last year, her speech and moto skills have developed greatly and I know some of this has come from her days in Yew Trees. There is always a wide variety of activities during the day for the children to take part in and
a great variety of healthy food. The staff are kind and patient at all time whilst teaching and nurturing.

Both our daughters attend Yew Trees. Our eldest joined in 2016, her sister in 2018. We have been blown away by their progress and the diligent caring nature of all the staff. When they head on to infant school they will hit the ground running because of the foundation work done at Yew Trees. We genuinely

Our daughter loves coming to nursery. She has so much fun. Yew Trees spend a lot of time taking the children outside. The staff are fantastic - you can tell they really care about the children and invest time planning activities for them. We get lots of feedback and the admin side of things is really

Yew Trees are phenomenal, we had our first child and after visiting a number of nurseries, the minute we stepped in (alongside our daughter with us) it was “the one”. We noticed that it was really well managed and staffed, had a fantastic atmosphere, the kids had so many different areas inside and out
that they could be playing in, good quality kit and everything just felt perfect. We’ve now had our daughter in for over six months as of December/Jan time and love the place. Our main assigned key worker is amazing, a totally lovely person and super qualified, not to mention fantastic with our daughter. We both highly recommend this nursery, there is not truly enough good things I can say! Not to lastly mention, in house food for the kids is second to none, balanced, fresh and varied. Just A class all the way guys, thank you.

When I was offered my ideal job whilst on maternity leave I was both overwhelmed with excitement and anxiety. We hose Yew Tree Nursery as it came with rave reviews from other parents we have known use it. The staff are everything one would wish for in an early years setting, they are not only competent
but filled with compassion, empathy, kindness and love for the children under their care. This, along with a willingness to want to see the children progress independently, emotionally and academically makes for a very special place. I can't think of anywhere else I would rather have my baby!

I couldn't be happier with the staff, setting and environment offered to my son at Yew Tree Nursery. He started three weeks ago and loves his time at the nursery. The staff are friendly, approachable yet professional. I know my little boy is in safe hands and well looked after. He arrives smiling and
leaves smiling (but a little bit tired too!) the day is full of fun and creative activities with great outside areas to explore. Any parent looking for a clean, safe and secure environment for their child should visit Yew Trees. Happy staff greet him/us with a smile and a warm welcome ensuring I leave feeling reassured he will have a brilliant day. Thank you to all the team at Yew Trees.

The team at Yew Tree does an amazing job at caring, nurturing and developing our two young children from the babies room through to pre-school, learning and development is a key focus and the carers continuously go the extra mile. We can't thank you enough for your dedication and hard work.

My son started here following the closure of his much loved first childcare provider. I was concerned at first as its such a large nursery but I shouldn't have been. The facilities are excellent they spent so much time outside play equipment in the nature field, with animals, gardening etc. Best of
all though are the staff who are, without exception, first rate. They are kind, knowledgeable, devoted and professional. Both my children have thrived here under their care. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
