Thank you!
Our daughter has attended this nursery since November 2019 and has received excellent care from all staff in both rooms she has been in. It was a huge adjustment for me as her mum to leave her in someone else's care when she was so young as I returned back to work but the staff gave her such excellent care and always briefed me on how she had been at the end of the day. The staff have helped my daughter be weaned on to solids, to get into a sleeping routine and now to learn how to use the toilet - their expertise and guidance has been invaluable. The quality of the care is brilliant. Her key person for instance identified there may be a potential health issue with our daughter which we had not noticed as a medical issue. After several months of scans and consultant appointments, our daughter is now scheduled for surgery to resolve this matter, all thanks to the early warning sign picked up by her key person. I would recommend any parent considering this nursery to secure a place.
Both my daughters have been attending this nursery from the age of 8 months. They were very well cared for and happy to go there. The staff is outstanding, the activities great and the food superb. The reason I cannot recommend this nursery to friends and family is its affiliation with Bright Horizons. Some services affecting the parents are managed centrally, for example invoicing (and during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown also keeping parents informed). Bright Horizons' Head Office is unfortunately very poor in their communication with parents, despite their 'values' (Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect, Teamwork - copied from Bright Horizons' website). If all communication and other services were managed locally rather than centrally, I would give this nursery 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to everyone - not just family and friends!
I think it's a terrible shame that I'm not allowed into the nursery due to covid. Because it seems like my child has an absolutely wonderful time. The nursery have taught him to eat with a fork and spoon, something he has always refused to do at home. And his confidence now is incredible around my friends and their children. I put that down to him mixing within the nursery. He used to be incredibly shy.
We have been really impressed by how well the nursery has adapted to the new normal. Our son absolutely loves going and we see he grows in confidence there every day. He comes home singing songs and telling us about the games he has played. He eats everything! We especially love the little notes we get about his day, it really helps us feel connected. The staff at Talbot Woods are all kind, caring and thoughtful in their approach. We could not be happier, thank you
My daughter has been very happy at this nursery. The staff are all really helpful and friendly and I can highly recommend this nursery to others.
My daughter has attended this nursery for three years now, she was very shy and the nursery worked very hard to help her grow in confidence. I always find the staff very approachable and if we have had any questions the reception, the manageress and room manager have always been only too obliged to help. This last year, in particular, we have found the support of the nursery amazing and I always recommend them to anyone I know.
Our daughter has been attending preschool for a year and before that was at the nursery for several months too. She is a very shy child and has been wonderfully supported by all the staff to grow in confidence and take part in new experiences. All the staff are great and doing a brilliant job of preparing her for school next September. The food available to the children is also fantastic.
Talbot Woods has been my little boy's nursery since he was 7 months old. He has been through all the rooms and is just starting preschool now. The love and care he has received throughout his time here has been amazing. Staff have reassured me with all my concerns and are very passionate about the children receiving the best education and start to experiencing life.
Really happy with this nursery - all staff are really positive, friendly and professional. Hard to find another like it.
Both of my children have attended this nursery and my 5 year old (who is now at school) still speaks very fondly of his time at Talbot Woods. My younger son loves going to the nursery and has a fantastic relationship with the staff that care for him. He always comes home bubbling! I love that he gets to do a variety of exciting activities and I feel the nursery is extremely well resourced. The staff are very friendly and approachable and show genuine interest in my child. Thank you for doing such a great job!
My daughter has been attending the nursery for a year and we are extremely happy with the care given to her, in both her baby and toddler room. It was a hard transition for us as parents but with the support and guidance from the nursery workers, we felt confident.
My daughter has progressed so well, her confidence and speech particularly. She has a great bond with her key workers and other workers and I can tell that they have a genuine care for her.
I particularly like the work they do with loose parts and messy play!
I find the nursery manager extremely supportive and feel confident to approach her at any time. I can also tell that she has a real care for all the children and their development which clearly go’s through all the nursery.
I am looking forward to the new summer menu as I found the previous menu repetitive.
When my daughter started the toddler room, the staff we so reassuring and gave me really good feedback about her day. The nursery offered a good block of settling sessions, which helped my daughter transition a lot easier into nursery. My daughter has formed a lovely relationship with her key worker, who is so caring, patient and passionate about her job.
I chose the nursery because I like the way the rooms follow the interests of the child and are not topic planned. My daughter's key worker has been fantastic to follow many of my daughter's interests, especially from home. I believe this has really helped her in developing speech and self-confidence to share her ideas and experiences.
The staff are absolutely great fun, committed to their jobs and very effective in their caring roles. I am very pleased with their care and consideration of my grandchild.
My son started at 7 months in the baby room. I found weaning hard and his key worker supported us through it. He then progressed into toddlers where the support with potty training was brilliant and he has now just started pre-school so I'm excited to see him make his next developments. Each move was planned and discussed to suit him and us. Every 6 months a 1-1 review with the key worker is carried out and they genuinely want to support our children. Plenty of settling in sessions were given to ensure he was happy and confident to transition.
You become part of a community within the nursery where all staff and management are always available to discuss anything. The manager is great and really knows all her children. They make good use of the facilities within the university like the big hall and outside sports court.
All the staff work hard to provide a safe caring fun environment for the children and has always made his time there enjoyable. He enjoys it so much we are soon increasing his hours he attends as he is always asking to go more!
My daughter who is now 5 has also been to the nursery and had a fantastic grounding. So when it was time for my son there was no doubt that he would be entering a nurturing and caring environment which would help him grow socially and physically. I have always found staff willing to communicate and cooperate with us to ensure that this is a partnership and an extension of their home experience. I feel they are part of my journey in parenthood.
I have two children who attend Talbot Woods and would recommend it to anyone needing outstanding child care. Both my children absolutely love the nursery and have strong bonds with their key workers. My oldest child started in the baby room and is now at preschool and I cannot thank the staff enough for the wonderful care, education and learning opportunities they have given her. Nothing is ever too much and the staff and management are extremely welcoming and clearly have a passion for what they do. My son settled very quickly into nursery at 9 months, which put me at ease dropping him off in the mornings knowing I did not need to worry about him. I am very grateful to the nursery for the exceptional care they hare giving my children and look forward to seeing how they continue to progress in the future whilst in the care of Talbot Woods nursery and nursery school.
I am in question about meal times, as I feel there isn't really any alternatives if my daughter didn't like/want the lunch provided. I just feel a bit concerned that if she wasn't to eat the lunch, she would be hungry. Maybe a thought for alternative meals could be provided?
However, I can not thank the management enough, for the time and care provided to make myself, as a parent, feel safe and set in my decision on childcare for my child.
My son started going to Talbot Woods Nursery when he was 9 months old and is currently in pre-school. He has Haemophilia A and was diagnosed with Autism in June 2016. The support and care have been outstanding, both for him and our family. The staff and management are exceptional and put procedures in place for his safety and his additional educational needs. They adapted the rooms so that he was safe at all times and so he did not suffer from any bleeds. They provide 1 to 1 support for him which includes work time and developed 'now and next' boards so he knows his timetable for the day. If he had not attended this nursery he would not have developed and grown into the little boy he is today. He was non-verbal but is now talking in sentences and his communication and understanding has come on leaps and bounds, all thanks to Talbot Woods Nursery and the loving staff. They care so much for the children and their families and I cannot recommend them enough.

Meet the Team (3)
I started with Bright Horizons in Talbot Woods in 2018, and have worked in childcare since 2012. I gained my Early Years Teacher status in 2015, and have worked in nurseries as an Early Years Lead ever since. I have worked with every age group as a keyworker from 0-5 and gained experience in key stage one. In January 2021 I was appointed manager of Talbot Woods and I am excited to take on a new challenge, with a team I know and appreciate.
Hi, my name is Caz. I work part-time at Talbot Woods Nursery. I have worked at the nursery for 9 years now and have a foundation degree in early years. I am proud to work for Bright Horizons.
Hi, I'm Jas. I gained my Cache level 3 in 2011. I have been working for Bright Horizons for 8 years. I really enjoy working for Bright Horizons and find my job really rewarding.
