The Old School Nursery (Shapwick) Ltd

I can honestly say that The Old School Nursery (Shapwick) is such a fantastic place. My son has been going since he was 10 months old (he is now nearly 2) and he absolutely loves it. The staff are fantastic and caring, I look forward to receiving his daily reports about activities and what he has eaten. They have given me so many ideas for meals at home as it all sounds delicious! With baby number two on the way there is no way I will be sending them anywhere other than The Old School Nursery. Thank you so much to the team, you are all fab!

We could not wish for a better nursery to send our little boy to. The whole experience is simply outstanding and we feel very privileged that he gets such a good start in life. The staff are absolutely fantastic; they are so caring, kind and really take the time to build relationships with the children and parents. Our son is always happy to run in at morning drop off and then has a big smile on his face at the end of the day. The staff organise such a wide range of activities for the children and each day is very varied. The photos that we receive on the Famly app are just further evidence of how happy he is there. The nursery is the most beautiful setting and they really make use of the outdoor space and Countryside that are available to them. We cannot recommend the nursery enough.

Both our sons regard this wonderful nursery as their second family! Continuous attendance by one or both 2017 to 2023. Helpful caring staff are worth their weight in gold. There is an incredible variety of activities from forest school to music to mud kitchen, gymnastics, cooking, walks, playground, gardening, pet care and crafts. They are nurturing and give loads of help with teaching the kids life skills like dressing and potty training before starting school. My sons eat better at nursery than they do at home! Highly recommend!

The manager is an absolutely brilliant and empathetic captain at the helm, who is hugely experienced within this field.

I have nothing but absolute praise for The Old School Nursery. My daughter absolutely loves going. She started at two-and-a-half years and looks forward to her nursery days. They have such lovely members of staff who are all so welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. I find it so easy to leave my daughter there knowing she is going to be looked after so well by lovely, caring members of staff. They communicate daily about activities the children have done and what the children have had for lunch, all of which are cooked fresh on-site. Thoroughly recommend.

Great all-around experience. Our child is always very excited and clearly enjoys the two mornings a week attended. Enjoys the hot lunches provided, often eating two portions and also the opportunity to be outside when the weather permits. The care and attention received has had a positive effect on development. Would recommend.

Our son started at The Old School Nursery in September 2022. We have had nothing but a positive experience here. Our son loves to attend and is learning new things every day. The staff are fantastic, welcoming and knowledgeable. The nursery has been particularly supportive in accommodating our son's allergy. We feel very lucky that our son attends such a loving nursery.

I have had two other children attend The Old School Nursery. Therefore, when my baby girl came along I knew I would not even contemplate sending her anywhere else. The staff are fantastic and the setting/environment is fabulous.

Great place. Great staff. Happy children. The staff at The Old School Nursery are exceptional. They really know their stuff. They are passionate about what they do and it shows. The care they take and the bonds they build are brilliant. My son has very happy memories of his time there and my daughter thoroughly loves going. There has never been a time when my children have not wanted to go. There have been several times when they haven't wanted to leave as they were having such a good time. My son left in August to go to school. He was very well prepared by the pre-school team. He was well socialised, confident and happy. My daughter has been in all 3 rooms over the last couple of years. All the staff have been amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of them. The pandemic inevitably caused them some issues which they dealt with brilliantly ensuring the children received the best possible care. My wife and I have been incredibly happy we chose the nursery for our children.

A wonderful and special place for little ones. After a house move, our 3-year-old daughter recently changed pre-school and started at The Old School. The change in her was instant and amazing to see. She has always been pretty shy and would always cry in the morning, asking to stay home which has been very upsetting for us as parents. Since starting at the Old School, she's been nothing but happy to go and has made so many new friends in a very short amount of time. From the first day, the staff have been nothing but caring and going above and beyond to make her feel welcome and make sure that she could explore her interests (as well as trying new things). The food is healthy and lovely and they have catered to her vegetarian diet straight away. The activities are amazing and so thoughtful. We feel that the staff are really taking the time to know her and make her feel special. We couldn't be happier knowing she's happy where she is.

Our little girl has been at the Old School Nursery since she was 7-months-old. She's now 3-years-old and still absolutely loves her days at nursery. We have never doubted the level of care, compassion and attention she gets at Nursery. Next year, our little girl will go to school and we will be sad to leave the Old School Nursery.

An incredible nursery for your little ones with amazing access to the outdoors as well as amazing extras like music and gymnastics. Our daughter started back in January 2022 and has got on incredibly. She has settled in straight away and every staff member we have engaged with has been so kind. They have put us at complete ease and were always so happy to receive calls when I was checking in on her, at the beginning. A truly magical place for your little ones to grow.

A simply amazing place! Our daughter left the nursery for school 2.5-years ago after, one son is in his final months with the nursery before starting school, and our youngest has just started, so we have had the full experience of the nursery from babies through to pre-school and never before have I met such a wonderful team of people, that create the most amazing place for children to learn, play, love, grow and understand more about themselves.

Always met with a smile, the nursery gets to know your child as an individual; they know everything they need to know about them and keep parents fully informed and updated. Leaving our youngest child was extremely hard as he had been very poorly as a baby, however, I knew there was no safer place, and this team spent time ensuring they knew everything they needed - they went above and beyond and he has absolutely flourished.

We adore The Old School Nursery! He was quite anxious about changing nurseries due to the lockdown - we need not have had worried! The staff have been amazing at settling him in and making us feel welcome. He always comes home with stories of all the fun things he has been up to. The staff have gone above and beyond to make everything feel safe during the pandemic without the children missing out on fun activities. The outdoor space is awesome, and the activities he gets up to seem really tailored to his hobbies and interests. There is great communication with home too - it's great to know we are 'singing from the same hymn sheet' so to speak when dealing with issues like potty training and kind hands.

My daughter has now been attending The Old School Nursery for 8-months. At first, I was worried that my little girl was going to be so young when starting nursery, but she has settled in so well, and that’s all down to the amazing staff at The Old School Nursery. I feel so comfortable leaving her in their care, and I know that she has an amazing time. I cannot thank the staff enough, particularly during the Covid pandemic. They do an amazing job.

My 11-month-old started here this year, and he has settled amazingly. Even though I have worked in a nursery myself, my first-time mum nerves took over, and I was worried about how my little boy would settle after spending the majority of his life in lockdown. He has done amazingly well, and is even sleeping there, which is something I never thought would happen due to only sleeping at home! Within just one week of starting, he was sleeping there, eating everything and feels happy to go with any member of staff. This is all due to the caring nature of all the staff, and the setting is warm and engaging! I love seeing the observations on the app of all the fun he gets up to, and my little one does not stop chatting and babbling when we get in the car to go home! In these tricky times, the staff have managed to create normality for my child, and I can’t thank them enough.

As all parents are when first looking for a nursery for there child, we felt very apprehensive about where to send our son. We looked at a few different nurseries, but The Old School Nursery really stood out for me and my husband. We loved that it is a family atmosphere, they promote outdoor activities and its beautiful countryside location. The manager was nothing but helpful when enquiring for a placement with all our questions. Even now, our sons been attending a few months, it's never too much of a hassle to answer any queries I may have. The staff are welcoming, and our boy beams when he sees them, which I think says a lot. When I pick him up, he's just as smiley, which tells me he's had a good day. I'm also impressed with the varied food that is offered when he attends nursery. We would highly recommend The Old School Nursery and will certainly be sending our next little one there.

The Old School Nursery provides such a loving and welcoming environment for our child (and all the other little people!). You can tell how well the staff build a bond with the children by the smiles and giggles at drop off time! I cannot fault this wonderful team and feel very lucky to have our child looked after by them.
