The Old School Nursery (Shapwick) Ltd

My son started here in September at 2 years and 4 months and the lovely team helped me gradually get him settled having never been looked after by anyone else. He now so looks forward to his mornings there, filled with fun activities and garden time. He talks so happily about the staff and his little friends. The meals for him are wonderful too, and we even get photo updates during his time there. Can't rate highly enough.

My 2 year old son recently started at The Old School Nursery, the staff went above and beyond to ensure he settled in well. He is happy when I drop him off and happy when I pick him up which is huge relief as a parent. I highly recommend this nursery

Our child has thoroughly enjoyed their time at The Old School Nursery. Every member of staff is incredibly kind and get to know each child (even outside of their room). The Forest School provision is excellent too.

The nursery is very organized and clean, which gives me peace of mind. My little boy has settled in quickly and absolutely loves his key worker. It's been such a positive experience, and I highly recommend Old School Nursery to other parents.

We could not be more pleased to have found The Old School Nursery. It was daunting to need nursery when going back to work when my daughter was 9 months old, but all staff we met on a tour, in the office and in the room were welcoming and friendly. It's no surprise then that my daughter has loved every day in the baby room and we trust the team completely to look after her as if she was their own. We know she is safe and happy at nursery. Her learning and development has skyrocketed and she is enjoying fun and varied experiences. Communication is excellent between home and nursery, face to face at drop off/pick up, through an app and emails. It's no surprise that people recommend The Old School to us so highly and we would recommend it to every family now too!

The Old School is a home from home and I’m so happy both of my children are now here. The staff are brilliant and go above and beyond with creativity and different activities to keep the children busy. There is so much for them to do. I’m never worried once I've done drop-off for the day.

As a first-time parent, it can be daunting leaving your child somewhere new, but we felt at ease immediately, and the feeling hasn't changed. Our little boy always comes out in high spirits and enjoys all the activities they provide. At the end of each session, the lovely staff give you such a detailed report of their day and get to know your child, and their likes/dislikes just as a family member would. For us, this nursey provides everything we could want and we're grateful for their care, kindness and professionalism.

The Old School nursery is without a doubt, without question, without hesitation - the best thing that has happened to my family and children. We have sent 2 children, from 9 months old to school age here and they have ended up beginning school as confident, friendly and sociable children. We know 100% that The Old School are a huge reason for this. They are kind, patient and polite carers, teaching our children core fundamentals and a strong moral grounding that will stay with them for years to come. I cannot recommend Ewa and her team are brilliant, catering to every child's specific needs and developing beyond any Ofsted requirements. We have made friends for life for our children and other parents who have become close friends now. If you have the chance to send your child here - do it!

Old School Nursery is hands down in my opinion the single best nursery we could have expected. They provide proper support for my daughter in a friendly and professional environment. Every single member of the staff cares utterly about the children in their care. In addition, my daughter suffers from additional needs and the support we have had as a family has been utterly mind-blowing - we certainly would not have coped as well as a family without the efforts that they made to make us feel so helped, supported and loved. A parent could not hope for a better place for their child to grow, learn and develop - it is a unique place.

The nursery clearly takes pride in the work they do. They never want a child to feel left out and even have spares of things so if you forget to pack something. One of the nicest touches was the unexpected welcome package we received. We are very happy!

I cannot fault The Old School Nursery at Shapwick. My little girl has been going for 6 months and has settled in so well. The staff are so caring and I like their smaller ratios so you really feel like they know and understand your little ones. They do so many activities and crafts and at handover there is a detailed list of things your little one has been up to that day. My little girl’s key worker is amazing and gives feedback as to how she is getting on and notices lots of the little things too. There is an app we use to communicate with the nursery and they regularly upload photos of the day/activities. The children get outside every day and when a little older have access to forest school too. My little one's communication, language and self-care skills have really accelerated since attending nursery. Love this nursery, it’s a lovely place and really child-led too.

Our daughter started at The Old School Nursery in June 2023 after we relocated to the area. She'd been at nursery in London so we were nervous the impact of a big move and a change in nursery setting might have on her. But I can honestly say that moving her to The Old School was one of the best things about our move - she settled very quickly and the staff have been so wonderful - our daughter is clearly incredibly happy there. She now does three days a week - but I think if she had her way she'd like to go full time! Her days are filled with music, dance and outdoor activities and she is flourishing. We get a full breakdown of her day on pick up and it's clear the nursery is a very happy, welcoming and special environment.

We have had an excellent experience with the nursery. The staff are all amazing and have all really contributed to the development of my child's key skills. At the end of each session we get a personal debrief of what she's done in the day and what delicious meals she has had. The most important thing for me is that my daughter really enjoys going to the Old School Nursery and, in her words, "see her ladies and her friends". She comes away talking nonstop about her day and is really excited to go back.

There is really nothing I can fault about The Old School Nursery it's brilliant. My daughter is as happy at nursery as she is at home, in fact sometimes she even asks me to call the nursery on the weekend to tell them things she's done in the day! The staff are amazing, they never rush us at drop off and give a really comprehensive handover at pick up. Any milestones at home e.g. potty training or naps are implemented at the nursery happily. Transitions to new rooms and key workers are thoughtfully planned. The office and management are helpful with information about waitlists/spaces and funding queries. My daughter loves forest school mornings, trips to the park and music sessions. We'd both give the nursery a 10/10.

Fantastic nursery. Have seen a huge positive difference in our child since they started here after moving from another nursery. Our child loves it here to the point they ask to go in on their day off. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they go above and beyond to support both the children and parents. We will always be eternally grateful for the support they have shown to us.

My daughter loves everyone there as well as the structured and semi-structured activities. And forest school is a real winner! So so fortunate to have found these guys.

The Old School is the most amazing nursery around, every single member of staff is so attentive to the children and take the time to tell you all about their day when you pick them up. In the 6 months our daughter has been there she has had so many opportunities to do all sorts of activities above and beyond what we expected from a nursery setting. She has come out of her shell and made lots of amazing bonds with children and staff and loves going into school every week. Couldn't praise them all higher, the best decision we have made was to become part of the Old School family!

I would highly recommend this nursery and would award A* on every level and couldn't think of a better place and environment for our son to grow up in.

The care the children receive at this nursery is head and shoulders above any setting I have come into contact with before, my son is very happy and content here. He loves his forest school sessions every Monday and he has formed a lovely attachment to the ladies that care for him. I don’t have any complaints about the setting, it has been a real asset to my son's learning, he often comes home singing songs they have shared together throughout the day and talks about his trips to the park and animals he has seen on his walks.

Our daughter started at The Old School Nursery in September 2022, when she had just turned one. Despite me not having left her very much before, she settled extremely easily thanks to the amazing care of the staff who look after her so well. Most days when we drop her off, she is saying bye to us and waving us off before we have even passed over her bag! She has learnt and flourished so much and often surprises us with new things she has learnt which is just so wonderful to see as a parent. They also provide a brilliant range of dairy-free meals for her. We don’t have any concerns and can go to work completely confident in the fact that she is going to have a really enjoyable day and we look forward to hearing all about it when we pick her up, which the staff always take time to tell you about.
