She enjoys everyday she spends at nursery and is always in a rush to go in, reaching out for the member of staff who greets her at the door, especially if it's her key worker, Annabelle, who she absolutely adores.
The staff here have been welcoming and friendly since the beginning and we are so grateful that she secured a place here, we feel confident leaving our daughter with everyone there.
Her development and understanding has grown exponentially since attending the Old School Nursery, and while this could be with age, there is no doubt her attendance here has contributed.
Love from Ewa and the Team xx
The old school nursery has been amazing with my daughter. She started at 8 months old and the staff were so supportive and reassuring. My daughter is so happy to see the staff in the mornings and has lovely bonds with them all. They have lots of lovely activities going on everyday and my daughter has so much fun. The staff have also been amazing with helping me sleep train my daughter too!

Our son has been at The Old School for nearly a year now and we have nothing but praise for the nursery. He started at 14 months old and the welcome pack we received reflected the managements complete understanding of how difficult it is to entrust your child with others. They feel family orientated because they are. Several of the staff have children who currently or have previously attended the nursery themselves. Ewa is wonderful and her love and enthusiasm for the children's care carries down through all the staff. The birds and the bees team are amazing. Our son loves them and has absolutely flourished since starting. The nursery came highly recommended within the local area and very from the first visit it was easy to see why. The services the nursery provide, from long opening hours, nutritious food, sundries and all the activities are invaluable for us. And far more importantly we have very happy son who loves going to nursery.
Regards Ewa xx
The Old School Nursery in Shapwick is simply superb. My little boy is absolutely thriving there under their compassionate and thoughtful care and we are incredibly grateful for all of their adaptations to support his individual needs. He eats well, sleeps well and plays well and the staff go above and beyond every day to make sure that he is happy and confident and that we are constantly kept in the loop. We know that this nursery is the perfect fit for our family and are grateful that he is being so well looked after and learning so much away from home. I would, without doubt or question, recommend The Old School to every new family.
We do feel blessed that you have chosen the OSN to be a part of your families journey.
Regards Ewa xx
Our son has recently started attending The Old School Nursery and we couldn't be more delighted. He's almost four, and this is his third setting, so we feel qualified to state that The Old School Nursery is a different level entirely! Ever since the day he started, he has been on top of the world, with a noticeable increase in confidence. There is a very personal vibe at the nursery; the staff are so friendly and seem genuinely invested in the child. We get loads of updates on the app as to the fantastic activities they lay on, which we obviously love seeing. The forest school is what really attracted us - the fact that it's included and that it's based on an actual working farm (dream come true for a tractor mad little boy!) Can't wait to see how our sons blossom here :)
Dear Tessa, thank you so much for your lovely words to share with the team, they truly mean the world to us. D has settled so incredibly well and we love that he has become a part of TOSN family and we are able to share his journey. Ewa x
Since the settling in days my daughter and us as parents have been made to feel very supportive. As a new mum I was extremely anxious about my daughter starting but all staff we have had interactions with have made it an enjoyable experience.

My son has attended the The Old School Nursery for the last 5 months and we have seen such progress in his development. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and helped put my mind at rest when leaving him in their care. I really enjoy the updates and end of the day report. It's great to hear all about the different activities he has taken part in and all the scummy meals and snacks he has been offered. He now goes willing in, at each drop off.
Thank you for your lovely feedback to share with the team. It means so much to us. C has settled in so well and we love been a part of his special journey TOSN family. Ewa xx
Being the first child we were apprehensive about him going to nursery and how he would respond. We had two settling in sessions where he met his lovely key worker Mia and he immediately felt relaxed in her company as she played with him and smiled at him warmly.
Every day since we have dropped him off he reaches his arms out to go to Mia and when we mention going to 'nursery' he smiles and giggles. We were met by the owner Natalie during our settling in sessions and she took us around the nursery once again. She is just so lovely, warm, informative and caring and really took the time out of her no doubt busy day to help us feel at ease. We get photo updates during the day and a report as to what he has eaten at the end which is generally 'all of it' and 'seconds!'
During recent flooding the nursery did all they could to stay open which was no doubt appreciated by all of the parents.
Fantastic nursery.

A little extra is that not just staff in your child room know them everyone knows all the children - I was so impressed at a Christmas Fayre when all staff knew my little one! The staff really do take a huge interested in your child's journey with them!
Dear Charlotte, what lovely feedback to share with the team. It truly means so much to us. We absolutely love E and it's so special to see her now up and about walking and enjoying all that is on offer at the Nursery :)
My son has always been extremely happy to go into nursery every morning and looks forward to engaging in a range of daily activities. The forest school facilities make this nursery stand out from the rest and provide opportunities for children to learn and develop practical skills that they would use in day to day life. My son has had his needs supported and the staff always listen to my communications about how my son is getting on. My son fondly talks about all the staff and gets on well with them all. I would highly recommend The Old School Nursery to any new parents.
What lovely feedback for the team. We absolutely adore L and I have loved watching him grow and develop into a very special little boy. He always chats to me when I go upstairs and greet them in the morning and gives me the biggest smile. He is very precious :)
The staff are lovely, welcoming and extremely professional. Im kept informed always, my Son loves the food, and we are very happy with all the care he is receiving. Would highly recommend, and very greatful to all the Team at The Old School Nursery that take care of our little boy!
What lovely feedback to share with the team, it really means so much to us. J has settled in so well and so quickly and we love having him being part of the OSN family x
Such an incredible and unique nursery which I can't wait to see him grow up through.
Thank you for your lovely words. They do mean so much to us. G has settled so well and already feels a part of the OSN family in such a short space of time. :)
We couldn't be more thrilled with our experience at The Old School Nursery! There is by a huge range of engaging activities that keep the child entertained, challenged, and learning. Whether it's arts and crafts, sensory play, or outdoor exploration.
What really stands out, is the incredibly caring, knowledgeable, and dedicated nursery room staff. They go above and beyond to make every child feel special, and you can see how much they truly care about the children. They are always so thoughtful and attentive, not only to the children's needs but also to the families. They take the time to learn about each family, which creates a real sense of community.
The staff makes you and your child feel welcomed each day, and you can tell they truly miss the children when they're away. Their thoughtful approach makes it easy to trust them completely.
They are incredibly accommodating when unexpected situations arise. They handle everything with professionalism and a reassuring kindness.
What a lovely review and it means so much to us, thank you xx
We have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Old School Nursery. We had heard great reviews before our daughter started there at 10 months old but our experience has exceeded our already high expectations. We love how much the staff seem to really know and care about the children and we have been so impressed by all the different sensory activities which are arranged every week and all the healthy food options she has been exposed to. Ultimately, the main thing is seeing how happy our daughter is when she arrives at nursery every day, which is all you can hope for from her childcare experience. We feel so lucky that we found the Old School Nursery.
What a lovely review for us to share with the team :) It means so much to us, so thank you. xx
Both my children are currently at the nursery and I cannot ask for a better environment. They are both really excited to go and the development of my children is great. The staff are always willing to share advice and are always super helpful. Lots of opportunities to go outside.
Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We really appreciate it :)
The Old School Nursery is a great nursery. My little boy loves it. The staff are so nice and friendly, they make him feel very comfortable. He is very shy, but since he started, his confidence has grown so much. He is always excited to go, he really enjoys the food and the forest school is a great experience.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It means so much to us all :) xx
We can't thank the staff and team at The Old School Nursery enough! We moved to the area in October 2023 and our 2 year old joined the caterpillar class and really enjoyed attending, doing fantastic activities, forest school and making new friends. Fast forward to today he is now in butterflies in his final year before school and has continued to flourish with his learning and phonics. The staff are really caring and genuinely interested in our son which makes it all the more comforting to know when we send our 14 month daughter in September 2025. Would highly recommend this nursery to anyone!
What lovely feedback for the team, it means so much to us thank you.
All the staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. My daughter has built up some lovely relationships with many of the staff. She talks very fondly of the nursery between sessions.
Our experience with the nursery has been excellent and we are excited for the experiences yet to come during my daughter's time at the nursery, as I'm sure it will continue to be fantastic.
Thank you for such lovely feedback. It means so much to us.
Our son has been at The Old School Nursery for nearly a year and a half. It's a lovely nursery, they are all so lovely and caring. Our son loves going in to see all his friends and he adores all the team. He's been in birds and the bees and now caterpillars. We have been very pleased with the care and nurture he receives. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nursery that gives that little extra. We really appreciate the team at The Old School Nursery from the office that have great communication to the lovely ladies that daily take care of our boy.
What a lovely review, it means so much to us to receive such lovely feedback
My 2-year-old started The Old School Nursery in January 2025 and so far we have seen an incredible improvement in his eating, drinking and speech. The Old School Nursery is a warm environment that encourages learning through play. Every member of staff that you meet - from the office to the nursery rooms, are friendly and inviting. Members of staff who are not involved in the direct care of your children still make an effort to get to know your child and their personality and because of this; I have no worries or concerns about sending my son here. The food on offer is great. The smaller ratios are great as the children get further support and guidance than some of the bigger named establishments. My son particularly enjoys the crafts and activities on a typical day-to-day. He does 3 afternoons a week as there was hardly any space, it's that good! He joins 3 full days a week as of Sept 2025, and his baby sister joins in January 2026. As soon as I viewed the place I fell in love!
Thank you so much for the lovely review, it means so much to us.

After 7 years working as a nanny and child minder in the USA and UK I decided I wanted to work in a Nursery environment gaining qualifications in Early Years. It soon became apparent that the Nurseries I worked in did not provide the very best quality childcare and I decided to open my own. After gaining a Diploma in Business Studies in 2002 I opened the doors to The Old School Nursery with three children and six full time staff.
We have now created a ‘home away from home environment.’ where your precious little ones will learn, grow, flourish and be loved and cherished. With 25 amazing, highly experienced and qualified staff we will do all we can to support you and your child during your journey with us.

I have worked in Child Care since 1998 and completed my NVQ Level 2 in a rural day nursery. Since moving into the village I wanted to try something different and was fortunate to gain the position of Nursery Cook at The Old School Nursery. I now have my Health and Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
